Huracanes / Hurricanes Finaliza temporada de huracanes récord por los próximos dos meses. Cualquiera 2017 Condado Osceola, FL - A pesar de que finalizó el jueves la temporada de huracanes récord 2017, los esfuerzos de recuperación del condado Osceola continuarán durante el futuro previsible. El recogido de escombros, reparaciones a negocios y residencias, y el recibimiento a los evacuados del Caribe son varios de los asuntos a los cuales el condado se enfrentará. Debris removal, continuing repairs to businesses and homes, and welcoming evacuees from the Caribbean are among the issues that the County will face. Officials said that Osceola County residents’ preparedness contributed to a transition to recovery. The 2017 season was the seventh most active on record, according to the end-ofseason summary released Thursday by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. On October 6, the County opened

the Hurricane Maria Reception Center and to date more than 2,000 families have received services from the facility located at 320 N. Beaumont Avenue. Irma passed through Osceola County, leaving flooding and debris in its wake, and the county was the first in the area to begin debris collection. The County’s contractors have begun its second pass of debris collection – focused on construction debris and large trees – but the effort is expected to continue for two months. Anyone with specific questions about debris collection should call 407742-7750. The hurricane season, which officially started June 1, made the records books as the most expensive ever, with $202.6 billion in damages, according to federal reports. That includes the costs when Hurricane Harvey hit the Gulf Coast and Texas, Irma in Florida and the Caribbean islands, and Maria, whose effects are still being felt in Puerto Rico and in Central Florida as evacuees arrive here daily. In Osceola County, the cost of Irma-related repairs to public structures and other expenses from Category 5 Irma is expected to top $20 million. The time frame is when hurricanes are most likely to form, but forecasters also point out that storms can and do occasionally form out of season.

We are problem-solvers and advocates for our citizens. My goal is to continue working on the strategic planning initiatives we have agreed upon as a Commission.” As outgoing Commission Chairman, Arrington said he was proud of all that was accomplished. “It was a great year,” said Arrington. “I feel like we were able to keep the county moving forward, after taking the time to be deliberative and lay the groundwork for our future over the last several years. Adopción / Adoption 45 niños locales encuentran "Familias por Siempre" en el Día Nacional de la Adopción (Ocho de ellos fueron adoptados en el condado Osceola) Orlando, FL - En los juzgados de la Florida Central el 17 de noviembre, 45 niños se unieron oficialmente con sus nuevos padres durante las ceremonias de adopción en los condados Orange, Osceola y Seminole como parte del "Día Nacional de Adopción". Sus edades van desde los más pequeños hasta adolescentes, los niños se encontraban entre los miles de niños que participaron en las celebraciones que tuvieron lugar en todo el país en noviembre. Ocho niños fueron adoptados en el condado Osceola. CBCCF espera aumentar la conciencia sobre la cantidad de niños que aún necesitan hogares permanentes y amorosos. CBCCF is hoping to raise awareness of the number of children who still need permanent, loving homes. In the tri-county area, approximately 143 children in foster care are available for adoption – among thousands nationally. Several community members attended the event to show their support, including the judges who oversaw the ceremonies in each county. “The greatest opportunity for a human being to succeed is in the foundation of a loving and supportive family,” said Judge Patricia Strowbridge. “One of the honors bestowed on a Judge is the ability to make that union between adoptive families and their children legally binding through the process of adoption.

Haciendo historia: La primera clase del programa de Artes Culinarias en Español de Florida Technical College da inicio oficialmente a clases en el recinto de Kissimmee. The Small Business Council’s (SBC) mission is to support the backbone of America’s job population through educational and networking opportunities, and by monitoring issues that affect small business economies in Osceola County. The SBC hosts an annual Chamber Business Academy at which business owners and operators learn how to build and grow their businesses. This five week course is taught by experts in the fields of sales and marketing, finance and administration, HR and legal, and more. Furthering its mission of education, the SBC hosts a variety of seminars throughout the year, and has pledged to help recruit business mentors for Osceola County high school students. During the breakfast celebration, success stories were presented and business Academy Graduates received their completion certificate. Kissimmee/Osceola County Chamber of Commerce President John Newstreet congratulated Florida SBDC at UCF and all the success stories and gave an update on the Kissimmee chamber. Orlando, FL - El pasado viernes 1 de diciembre, desde un nevado Moscú, se realizó el sorteo de la fase de grupos de la Copa del Mundo. Treintidos selecciones, divididas en 4 bombos, conocerían a sus rivales del próximo junio en el verano ruso. Indudablemente, hay candidatos, hay promesas, y hay solamente animadores. Nadie puede negar que la suerte juega un papel fundamental en un mundial. El momento exacto en que algún exfutbolista famoso muestre el nombre de tu país escrito en un papel dentro de una bolita, puede significar la diferencia entre realizar un gran mundial, para alegría de millones, o bien, que el trabajo y planeación de años se vayan al traste.

Para mala suerte, la de Panamá, quien jugará su 1º Copa del Mundo tras una clasificación milagrosa. está ubicado en el Grupo G, junto a Bélgica, Inglaterra y Túnez. Otro que corrió con mala fortuna es Perú, quien fue sorteado al que bien podría ser considerado el “Grupo de la Muerte”: Francia, Dinamarca y Australia. Y Argentina, si bien es candidata al título, no tendrá ningún partido fácil en su grupo. Nigeria (por 3º mundial consecutivo), Islandia (la sensación de la Euro) y Croacia (Modric, Rakitic y compañía). Por otra parte, Colombia y Uruguay contaron con buena fortuna al momento en que Diego Maradona sostenía el papel con su nombre. La garra charrúa va al grupo más fácil, el A, donde se enfrentará a un débil anfitrión, Rusia, así como a Egipto y Arabia Saudita. Los cafetaleros están en el último grupo, el H, donde se medirán a Polonia, Japón y Senegal. Ambos sudamericanos deberían pasar en primer lugar de su grupo.
