On Networks and Netflix, Valencia Grad advances sound career in NYC By Jimmy Sherfey The recent proliferation of streaming content has given viewers quite the wave of quality TV – a wave that Valencia sound grad Kelly Rodriguez, 26, has been skilled enough to ride. If you’ve gotten into Aziz Ansari’s “Master of None,” VH1’s “The Breaks,” ABC’s “Quantico,” you may have heard her sound design. Rodriguez credits her professional ear to a passion for music, and the technical knowledge acquired in the Valencia College sound technology program. Almost immediately after earning her A.S. in Sound and Music Technology in 2015, Rodriguez moved to New York City and started doing grunt work as an intern at a post-production facility. Now she’s a member of the Motion Picture Editors Guild, designing sound for a wide variety of projects featured on Netflix, as well as conventional networks such as USA and AMC. In addition to gaining credits on a host of popular scripted series, she recently worked on the Susan Lacy documentary, “Spielberg,” which premiered at the New York Film festival in front of more than 1,000 people – including the iconic director himself. The documentary is now on HBO. Currently, Rodriguez is working on “Happy!” featuring comedian Patton Oswalt and “Law & Order” alum, Christopher Meloni. Hurricane Irma leaves its mark on Osceola levels have gone down and recovery in County By Peggy Choudhry - District 1 County Commissioner Hurricane Irma made for some tense times as it passed through Osceola County. In some areas, the effects were more noticeable than in others. Overall, Osceola County is doing its best to help residents. Immediately after the storm, a damage assessment of homes and businesses in Osceola County was conducted by staff from the County and the Property Appraiser’s office. This was a key so that on September 13th residents were eligible for individual assistance from FEMA. Operation Blue Roof is another program available to communities across the county. Operation Blue Roof assists eligible homeowners with professional roofing of temporary tarps on damaged roofs that qualify for the program through the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Individual and community-wide recovery continues. County, State and FEMA staffs are working with individuals in need in a variety of ways including temporary housing, roofing assistance, debris removal, food-stamp assistance, small-business loans and other ways. FEMA is accepting applications for individual assistance at disasterassistance.gov or 1-800-621FEMA (1-800-621-3362). As we try to return to normal, lake
flooded areas such as Good Samaritan Village continues. Several homes and structures in Good Samaritan were damaged by flooding and will take some time to repair. Because Good Samaritan is a private community, the County will be working closely with their insurance company during recovery and rebuilding. Debris is a big question for residents. If you have any questions, there is a Debris Hotline at 855-866-5650 that is being staffed 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday. There is a lot of debris around the county and it could take some time for the contractor to haul it away. Please be patient. The hurricane season continues through November. We’ve already seen the devastation wrought by Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. At the beginning of October, we opened a Maria Hurricane Reception Center in order to provide citizens coming here with resources to get their lives back together. During the meeting, which was held at the Government Command Center, located at the Pedro Rosselló Convention Center, the cameral leader emphasized the need to rebuild the island's electricity grid, as well as extending the greatest possible assistance to the thousands of Puerto Ricans who have gone to Florida, particularly the Kissimmee area, following the clash of María. Other issues were also touched upon, including the communications and services that the city could provide. Next to the President of the House was the Secretary of the Government, William Villafañe, as well as a handful of officials from the state of Florida. According to the most recent news reports, over 27,000 Puerto Ricans have traveled to the United States since María entered the island 23 days ago. The vast majority of these have gone to Central Florida. Kissimmee is a city in Central Florida with over 70,000 inhabitants, almost 30,000 of these are Puerto Ricans, an amount that is expected to double in the coming months. Méndez Núñez y Álvarez have a long-time friendship. The two leaders held a talk on the Capitol during the month of August on issues related to the implementation of economic development measures that would benefit residents of both jurisdictions.

Scott Issues Updates on State Action to Assist Puerto Rico Washington, D.C. – Governor Rick Scott provided an update on resources being deployed to Puerto Rico to assist with recovery and response efforts following Hurricane Maria. This is what the State of Florida is doing to support Puerto Rico: MILITARY SUPPORT •The Florida Air National Guard's 101st Air and Space Operations Group (AOG) continues to coordinate all military airflow in the Joint Operations Area through the execution of the AOC's Regional Air Mobility Coordination Center (RAMCC). To date, they have coordinated nearly 1,300 flights, bringing nearly 7,000 personnel and 10,000 tons of cargo in support of Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. •The 202nd Red Horse Squadron (202 RHS) is sending 26 Airmen and a Disaster Relief Beddown Set (DRBS) to Puerto Rico via sealift out of JAX Port. The 202 RHS is a construction and engineering squadron. The DRBS will support 150 personnel. La Autoridad de Acueductos y Alcantarillados de Puerto Rico reitera que el agua del pozo Santa Rosa es segura San Juan, PR - El Presidente Ejecutivo de la Autoridad de Acueductos y Alcantarillados de Puerto Rico (PRASA), Elí Díaz Atienza, reiteró que el Departamento de Salud, PRASA y la Agencia de Protección Ambiental (EPA) confirmaron que el agua del pozo Santa Rosa en Dorado es seguro, no representa una amenaza para la salud y cumple con los estándares de la Ley de Agua Potable Segura. "En PRASA tenemos un compromiso inquebrantable con la salud, el bienestar de nuestros constituyentes y el suministro de agua potable a todos los puertorriqueños. Los pozos que utilizamos como oasis para abastecer a nuestra gente con agua potable
cumplen con los criterios establecidos en el ámbito federal y las leyes y regulaciones locales, el agua es segura. Además, y reafirmando nuestra posición, el personal de la oficina regional de la EPA ha validado nuestra posición", dijo el funcionario público. Díaz Atienza agregó que "los resultados de las pruebas realizadas estuvieron por debajo del Nivel Máximo de Contaminación (MCL) lo que significa que cumplimos con los estándares requeridos". También afirmó que, por otro lado, el pozo Maguayo en Dorado, que ha estado cerrado por varios años, no ha cumplido con los criterios establecidos y no es seguro.

Robo a mano armada St. Cloud, FL - El 14 de octubre de 2017, aproximadamente a las 06.20 horas, oficiales del departamento de policía de St. Cloud respondieron a un robo a mano armada en 4485 13th Street, Circle K. La investigación reveló que el sospechoso en la foto entró en la tienda, mostró una pistola, apuntó al empleado y exigió dinero. El sospechoso salió con $70.00 y huyó del área a una dirección desconocida. El sospechoso fue descrito como un hombre blanco o hispano, aproximadamente 5'10 - 6'0, 215240 libras, con pantalones deportivos grises, camisa negra con logo Oakley, un sombrero negro / rojo y una máscara de esquí "esqueleto”.

Investigation revealed the pictured suspect entered the store, displayed a handgun, pointed it at the clerk, and demanded money. The suspect made off with $70.00 and fled the area in an unknown direction.

Condado Osceola, FL - El martes 10 de octubre de 2017, a las 11:15 A.M., oficiales del sheriff del condado Osceola respondieron a una llamada de alarma en 3137 Britannia Blvd, Apt. C. en Kissimmee. Cuando llegaron se encontraron con un hombre, identificado como Scott Dougals Waddell D.O.B. 29/7/72 mientras investigaban más, descubrieron un hombre fallecido
dentro de la residencia. La victima había sido identificada como Nicholas Anthony Corvino D.O.B. 21/04/87, que parecía sufrir una herida de bala. Waddell y Corvino eran compañeros de habitación, pero Waddell no cooperó con los detectives. La investigación llevó a la detención de Waddell por asesinato en primer grado. Este fue un incidente aislado y nos gustaría agradecer a los investigadores y oficiales por su dedicado servicio. Death Investigation Osceola County, FL - On Tuesday, October 10, 2017, at 11:15 A.M., Osceola county sheriff’s deputies responded to an alarm call at 3137 Britannia Blvd, Apt. C. in Kissimmee. When deputies arrived, they met with a male, identified as Scott Dougals Waddell D.O.B. 7/29/72. As deputies investigated further, they discovered a deceased male inside the residence. The deceased male has been identified as Nicholas Anthony Corvino D.O.B. 4/21/87, who appeared to suffer from a gunshot wound(s). Waddell and Corvino were roommates but Waddell was not cooperative with detectives. The investigation led to the arrest of Waddell for first degree murder. This was an isolated incident and we would like to thank investigators and deputies for their dedicated service.

At the scene deputies learned that Matthew J. Gannett D.O.B. 1/23/64, stabbed a family member and fled the scene. The victim was taken to a local hospital where he was treated for his injuries and is in stable condition. The
investigation led detectives to obtain an arrest warrant for Attempted Murder against Gannett, who was later arrested by the Orlando police department. This was an isolated incident and we would like to thank investigators and deputies and the Orlando Police Department for their dedicated service. Otra temporada amarga termina para Orlando City Orlando, FL - El domingo 22 de octubre, la tercera temporada del Orlando City Soccer Club en la MLS terminará oficialmente. Bueno, de hecho, ya terminó desde hace varias semanas. Al igual que los dos años anteriores, Orlando no participará en los playoffs, pero sin lugar a dudas, esta temporada ha sido la más decepcionante y desesperante de todos. Pero para decepcionar, primero hay que crear grandes expectativas. Y eso es lo que Orlando City nos hizo creer a todos al comienzo de la temporada. Seis victorias en los primeros siete juegos, incluyendo cinco seguidos en casa (un récord de la MLS). Another bitter season ends for Orlando City Orlando, FL - On Sunday, October 22nd, the third season of the Orlando City Soccer Club in MLS will be officially over. Well, in fact, it’s been over for several weeks now. Just like the two previous years, Orlando will not be participating in the playoffs, but without a doubt, this season has been the most disappointing and uninspiring of them all. But to disappoint, one has to create high expectations first. And that’s what Orlando City made us all believe at the beginning of the season. 6 victories in the first 7 games, including 5 in a row at home (an MLS record). By early May, the Lions had the best record in the league, the best new stadium in the league, and the best part is that it was all without Kaká, who had played only 20 minutes in the whole season. But then, an almost inexplicable losing streak began, where every achievement done at the beginning of the season was flushed down the toilet. Orlando City’s season died down slowly and painfully, falling from first place, then from the premium playoff spots, then from even playoff contention, and into their current spot: 2nd-worst in the East Conference. Elimination came early for the Lions, 3 matches before
the season ended. One of the few highlights of the season is the newly created rivalry against the most recent team to join the league: Atlanta United. Out of the three times they played this season, all of them were full of emotion, goals, and last-minute heroics from Atlanta. Two ties, including a 3-3 in Mercedes-Benz Stadium that broke the assistance record for an MLS game (previously held by Orlando City), and a 2-1 win by Atlanta. To make things even worst, Kaká has announced his farewell from the team and the city. In tears, the Brazilian star played his last game in a purple uniform, in the 0-1 defeat at home against Columbus Crew. Will Orlando City improve or get worse after Kaká is gone? We still don’t know that, but for sure the amount of money paid to him could very well be spent on several players to reinforce the squad. It’ll be a long wait from now to the start of next season, but in the Orlando City headquarters they must be thinking about it and planning for it now, because their goal, and what everyone in this city wants, is to see the Lions play in the playoffs for the first time.

Él compartió y platicó como si estuviera en la sala de su casa con mucho cariño y las escenografías de cada canción cambiaban siendo cada vez mejores e increíbles, preguntaba las canciones que el público pedía para complacerlos y regresó después de terminado el show, tres veces pues el público no dejaba de pedirle más. Solo podemos decir que fue un show sensacional y que la gente salió feliz.

Arjona performed and pleased his fully intrigued audience who sang all of his songs.
He shared and spoke as if he were in the living room of his house with much affection. The stage visuals of each song became better each time. Arjona asked the audience what songs they would like him to sing to please them. He returned after the show ended three times, in which the audience kept asking him for more. We can only say that it was a sensational show and that people came out happy.
