Cameron Preserve aligns with our strategic initiatives to address affordable housing in this community.” “Our goal is to help homeless families, including those living in motels, doubled-up with family or friends, living in cars, tents, and so forth into permanent housing,” she added. “Often these families just need a little help, and the result of this project will be that we can get them into stable living situations.” The first phase of Cameron Preserve will include 100 1-, 2- and 3-bedroom apartments that will be leased to families at or below 80 percent of Osceola County’s median income. Cameron Preserve also goes hand in hand with the County setting aside additional funding for rapid re-housing as it seeks to address its homelessness issue. “Providing affordable housing is a complex issue faced by cities and counties across the nation. Cameron Preserve is a step in the right direction as we look for successful solutions to helping our residents in need for housing,” said Commissioner Peggy Choudhry, whose district includes the development. “Our goal is to help families to become self-sufficient, which results in a long-term reduction in social services and an overall improvement in education and health for those we assist.”

Día de las madres / Mother's Day 9 países celebran El festival del día de la madre Colombia, Eliana Pedrozo Orlando, FL- Ser Colombia organizó con la colaboración del Consulado de México. Nueve países latinos se unen para festejar la Fiesta a las Madres en Florida Central. Tuvo como sede el Consulado de México. La Fiesta a las Madres, organizada por Ser Colombia con el respaldo de nueves países latinos, significó un espacio de encuentro y de exposición de cultura de los participantes: México, Colombia, Ecuador, Bolivia, Perú, Argentina, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica y República Dominicana. A esta celebración acudieron autoridades, para respaldar el encuentro de la familia latina: el alcalde de Kissimmee, José Álvarez y los Comisionados de Orlando, Tony Ortiz y Robert Stuart, quienes leyeron una proclama para sumar oficialmente a la Ciudad de Orlando la Fiesta a las Madres. La presidenta de Soy Colombia, Margarita Parra subrayó el reconocimiento a los Cónsules de

9 countries gather to celebrate Mother’s Day Orlando, FL - Ser Colombia collaborates with the Consulate of Mexico to organize the Mother’s Day festival. 9 Latin countries gather to celebrate Mother’s Day in Central Florida as well as the headquarters of the Mexican Consulate. The Mother’s Day festival, meant a space for meeting and exhibiting culture of the participants: Mexico, Colombia, Ecuador, Bolivia, Peru, Argentina, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica and Dominican Republic. For this celebration authorities came to support the meeting of the Latino family: Mayor of Kissimmee, Jose Alvarez and Orlando Commissioners, Tony Ortiz and Robert Stuart, who read a proclamation to officially add to the City of Orlando the Mother’s Day festival. Soy Colombia’s president, Margarita Parra underlined the recognition to the Colombian

Artists from the different participating countries recited, danced, sang, with their rhythms and talents to celebrate Latin mothers and the entire community of Central Florida. Shooting investigation Osceola County, FL- On May 16, 2017, Osceola County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of an aggravated assault in a construction area near Myers Road and Rob Way, in Kissimmee. A construction worker reported he was shot at by an unknown person, while operating a construction vehicle. Deputies responded to the area and while checking the area for suspects, they observed a male leaning out of the second story window of a residence with what appeared to be a rifle. Deputies worked quickly to secure the area and ensure that people in

the Campbell Cove and Eagle Bay neighborhoods were safe. The Osceola Sheriff’s Office SWAT team responded to contact the suspect and he cooperated and was taken into custody. This is currently an active scene and the investigation is ongoing. The suspect has been identified as Eduardo TorresBonet D.O.B. 6/25/96. Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office at (407) 348-2222. Shooting investigation Osceola County, FL- On Saturday, May 20, 2017, at approximately 11:30 P.M., Osceola County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the area of the Florida Turnpike near MM 200, in reference to a report of a possible drunk driver. A deputy could spot the vehicle near MM 196 and stopped the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle, described as an adult male, was not cooperative and fled from the traffic stop. The deputy checked the area and spotted the driver at the Pilot gas station (3050 E. SR 60 in Yeehaw Junction). The deputy approached the driver to place him under arrest, but the male was uncooperative and fled on foot from the gas station. The deputy pursued the suspect and made numerous attempts to take him into custody, but the driver became violent.

Carlos J. Garcia Petrovich D.O.B. 10-21-79 During the physical fight, the deputy fired his service weapon, hitting the suspect. The suspect was later pronounced deceased at the scene. This is an ongoing investigation being conducted by The Florida Department of Law Enforcement. The suspect has been identified as Carlos J. Garcia Petrovich D.O.B. 10/21/79.

Wibit Inflatables are modular water inflatables which come together to form various courses, features, and obstacles for swimmers to test their skills on. Witbit Wednesday courses at the Aquatic Center will test speed, balance, and smart thinking. Participants, who must be at least 6 years old, can attempt to make their way across the competition pool one at a time while crossing hurdles, steps, and a challenging wiggle bridge. The normal $5 admission fee for the Bob Makinson Aquatic Center will include access to the Witbit Inflatable obstacle course which will

be open from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Wednesdays. The Witbit course will be available every Wednesday until the end of the 2017 season. The Parks & Recreation Department does not recommend participation in a Witbit course for women who are pregnant or those individuals with medical conditions such as back or neck injuries and those who have undergone recent surgeries. a penalty kick, yet completely misses when he hits the post. It seems to be that Larin always stands in the right place at the right time, but when he faces a one on one chance he tends to miss it. At last when minute 81 hit, once again David Villa scored another goal, leaving Orlando City fans in disappointment. This soccer match was a tough one especially since the Orlando City soccer players didn’t have chemistry on the field and didn’t attack as much as they should have. The Lion’s suffered their first home defeat, while NYCFC leaves with victory on their shoulders.

The raccoon climbed onto a 13,200-volt piece of electrical equipment inside the utility’s Airport Substation at 11:59 p.m. Tuesday, causing three

primary feeder lines to fail. The substation, one of 10 serving the Kissimmee area, is located off Hoagland Blvd., just south of the Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway. Utility crews restored one feeder at 12:47 a.m., one at 12:48 a.m. and one at 12:53 a.m. The raccoon did not survive.
