Además, Albert es un cliente de Meals on Wheels.

Osceola County, FL – On Saturday, January 20, the Home Depot Foundation supports employees who volunteer to make improvements to the home of a local senior Veteran, along with the AmVets in St. Cloud. Osceola Council on Aging (OCOA), volunteers from The Home Depot and AmVets in St. Cloud helped to build a 40ft+ wheel chair ramp, installing smoke alarms, and CO2 detectors for Navy Veteran Albert Sturzenegger who was surprised to receive the wheelchair ramp and is very excited to now be able to get out of his house more easily. He served in the Navy from 1942-46 as a Hydraulic Inspector stateside for three plus years during WWII.

AmVets of St. Cloud will be donating a gas-powered Auger to assist the Osceola Council on Aging staff in the future to save time in the preparation of building wheel chair ramps for Veterans and seniors in our community. The project finished by the volunteers installing a 20- ft. lighted flag pole to celebrate the service that the Albert Sturzenegger and his family have provided to this great nation. These improvements will help Albert move freely throughout his home, and he will be released from the hospital due to these improvements since he has trouble moving his wheel chair around and suffers from other medical issues. In addition, Albert is a Meals on Wheels client.

Siemens y BRIDG se asocian para desarrollar la fabricación de semiconductores Kissimmee, FL – Siemens anunció el 25 de enero una asociación con BRIDG para impulsar el desarrollo de tecnologías Twin Digitales para la industria de los semiconductores al proporcionar la cartera de software PLM de Siemens para permitir las actividades de investigación y desarrollo de BRIDG. La Fortaleza-San Juan, PR - El secretario de Asuntos Públicos y Política Pública, Ramón Rosario Cortés, se reunió con diversos líderes del sector privado para ver el mensaje del gobernador Ricardo Rosselló Nevares sobre la transformación de la Autoridad de Energía Eléctrica (AEE). “Tuvimos la oportunidad de intercambiar impresiones sobre el mensaje con líderes del sector privado al igual que lo hizo el gobernador con todo el Pueblo en los pasados años. Ninguna persona racional puede objetar la idea de transformar a la AEE porque lo que tenemos simplemente no funciona”, señaló el titular de Asuntos Públicos. Rosario Cortés añadió además que “no es culpa de los empleados de la AEE sino de muchos años de malas decisiones al mantener un sistema monopolizado que no responde a los mejores intereses de los puertorriqueños. Los empleados de la AEE serán pieza importante en esta transformación”. El gobernador anunció esta semana, en un mensaje al Pueblo su intención de vender los activos de la AEE para que el sector privado esté a cargo de la generación de la energía eléctrica en Puerto Rico. Además, la propuesta del gobernador propone una concesión a término definido para la distribución y transmisión de energía. Ello, con el fin de terminar con el monopolio de la producción y venta de energía en la Isla y promover la inversión y competencia en beneficio del consumidor como ocurre en otras jurisdicciones de los Estados Unidos. No rational person can object to the idea of transforming PREPA because what we have simply does not work, "said the head of Public Affairs. Osceola County McCloud honrada por los Visionarios de Osceola durante el evento de Martin Luther King, Jr. Condado Osceola, FL El trabajo de Celestia McCloud es manejar una gran variedad de programas dirigidos a ayudar residentes desventajados del condado Osceola. Pero no importa cuán desalentadora es la tarea – desde combatir la falta de vivienda a manejar la Sección 8 a velar por los servicios de Veteranos, McCloud siempre aborda su misión con una sonrisa y una actitud de “sí, se puede”. Esa actitud es la razón por la cual McCloud es honrada por los Visionarios de Osceola durante su trigésimo (30mo) banquete anual celebrando la vida del Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., según dijo Anna Pinellas, miembro fundador de los Visionarios de Osceola. “Es basado en su trabajo y liderazgo. Ella está llevando a cabo una magnífica labor y eso conlleva mucho,” dijo Pinellas, quien sostuvo empleos similares con la ciudad de Kissimmee y el condado de Osceola antes de retirarse, hace una década. McCloud está muy orgullosa del trabajo y logros alcanzados por su Departamento de Servicios Humanos, pero su mayor orgullo es su gran equipo que continúa creciendo. McCloud is very proud of the work Human Services has accomplished but she is most proud of the great team she continues to build. She also appreciates the support of County Commissioners and County administration. “It’s always great to be recognized by the community in which you work,” said McCloud. “I always remember something my mother said that is helpful as a provider of services. She always said, ‘Do as much as you can, for as many people as you can, for as long as you can.’ And that’s what I’ve tried to do – and what I instill in my staff to do as well.” McCloud has been with Osceola County for 7 years. Se abre periodo de reinscripción para salvadoreños con Estatus de Protección Temporal Washington — El Servicio de Ciudadanía e Inmigración de Estados Unidos (USCIS, por sus siglas en inglés) anunció el 18 de enero, que los beneficiarios actuales del Estatus de Protección Temporal (TPS, por sus siglas en inglés) bajo la designación de El Salvador que deseen mantener su estatus hasta la fecha en que entra en vigencia la finalización del programa el 9 de septiembre de 2019, deben reinscribirse entre el 18 de enero de 2018 y el 19 de marzo de 2018. Re-registration period now open for Salvadorans with Temporary Protected Status Washington — U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced on January 18th., that current beneficiaries of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) under El Salvador’s designation who want to maintain their status through the effective termination date of Sept. 9, 2019, must re-register between Jan. 18, 2018, and March 19, 2018. Re-registration procedures, including how to renew employment authorization documents, have been published in the Federal Register and on uscis.gov/tps. All applicants must submit Form I-821, Application for Temporary Protected Status. Applicants may also request an Employment Authorization Document (EAD) by submitting a completed Form I-765, Application for Employment Authorization, at the time of filing Form I-821, or separately at a later date. Both forms are free for download on USCIS’ website at uscis.gov/tps. USCIS will issue new EADs with a Sept. 9, 2019, expiration date to eligible Salvadoran TPS beneficiaries who timely reregister and apply for EADs. Given the timeframes involved with processing TPS re-registration applications, however, USCIS recognizes that not all reregistrants will receive new EADs before their current EADs expire on March 9, 2018. Accordingly, USCIS has automatically extended the validity of EADs issued and currently valid under the TPS designation of El Salvador for 180 days, through Sept. 5, 2018. On Jan. 8, Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen M. Nielsen determined that the statutory conditions supporting El Salvador’s TPS designation on the basis of an environmental

disaster are no longer met. Secretary Nielsen made her decision to terminate TPS for El Salvador after reviewing country conditions and consulting with appropriate U.S. government agencies. To allow time for an orderly transition, she also delayed the effective date of the termination for 18 months from the current expiration date of March 9, 2018. As a result of the delayed effective date, El Salvador’s TPS designation will end on Sept. 9, 2019. Salvadorans with TPS may wish to consult with qualified immigration attorneys or practitioners about their eligibility for another immigration status or benefit, or whether there is any other action they may want to take regarding their individual immigration circumstances. The college’s new Bachelor of Applied Science in Business and Organizational Leadership (BASBOL) is designed to provide access to a bachelor’s degree for students who have earned an Associate of Arts (AA) or Associate of Science (AS) degree in any discipline. The degree is designed to help A.S. graduates add business skills on top of their previously learned industry skills. For A.A. graduates, completing this business degree will also prepare them for leadership positions in industry. When the program launches in the summer 2018 semester, students will be offered core classes including business law, marketing management, and management theory, with a focus on supervision and management. This bachelor’s degree program is ideal for people in supervisory roles who cannot advance into management without a bachelor’s degree, Valencia officials say. “We can offer classes that will not only lead to a bachelor’s degree, but will provide students education in a field that will directly help them in their current role. What they learn in class on Tuesday, they will be able to apply at work on Wednesday,” said Terry Allcorn, dean of business and hospitality at Valencia’s West Campus.

The new degree program, which will be housed at Valencia’s West Campus, will also be beneficial for recent college graduates who want to start their own business, say college officials. College leaders worked with local business executives and University of Central Florida officials to tailor a business program that meets the needs of the Central Florida business community. Classes will be held every Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. for approximately 9 weeks, based on the schedule. The Academy will end with a graduation celebration. The Orlando Magic Youth Foundation Distributes $1 Million to 27 Central Florida Organizations Orlando, FL - Through the Orlando Magic Youth Foundation (OMYF) checks totaling $1,004,000 were presented to 27 grantee organizations in a surprise ceremony on January 23 at the Amway Center. Over the past 28 years, more than $23 million has been distributed to local nonprofit community organizations through the OMYF. The OMYF All-Star team was announced in the spirit of the NBA Draft as each nonprofit organization was recognized and presented with an OMYF jersey or specialty basketball. Representatives were greeted by Orlando Magic Chairman Dan DeVos, Magic CEO Alex Martins, Magic Community Ambassadors Nick Anderson and Bo Outlaw, Magic Vice President of Social Responsibility/ OMYF President Linda Landman Gonzalez and the OMYF team. With funds raised by the OMYF, a total of $1,004,000 million in grants was distributed to these charities. This marks the tenth time that $1 million has been distributed through the OMYF since inception. In addition to the OMYF All-Star team announcement today, these organizations will be honored ingame tonight when the Magic host the Sacramento Kings. After an extensive five-phase process,

which began in April of 2017, the beneficiaries were recommended by the OMYF Board and then approved by the McCormick Foundation’s Board of Directors. The Orlando Magic and the DeVos family are committed to making a difference in Central Florida. Each year, the Magic gives more than $2 million to Central Florida by way of sponsorships of events, donated tickets, autographed merchandise and grants.
