City of Kissimmee Offers “Turkey Camp” KISSIMMEE, — The City of Kissimmee is calling all kids! It’s time to get out the house and enjoy some fun, because good times are back at our Turkey Camp. Join us for 3 fun filled days of activities and field trips from Monday, November 21 to Wednesday, November 23. The Kissimmee Parks and Recreation Department is offering Turkey Camp for ages 5-13 years. Camp will be held at the Berlinsky Community House (300 E. Monument Avenue, Kissimmee). The fee is $65 per child for all 3 days. This price includes admission to field trips/transportation and supervision from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm. Campers must bring a packed lunch/snacks each day. Field Trip destinations include Airheads (11/22) and Regal Cinemas to watch “Moana” rated PG (11/23). Registration deadline is Wednesday, November 16th; registrations taken after this date are subject to availability and will be charged a $10 late fee. State - Noticias / News Gobernador Scott premia a seis comisionados oficiales con medallas por heroísmo Tallahassee, FL - Durante la reunión de 25 de octubre del Gabinete de la Florida, el gobernador Rick Scott reconoció seis agentes de la Comisión de Conservación de Pesca y Fauna de Florida (FWC por sus siglas en inglés) con la medalla de heroísmo por su valentía y servicio de ayuda a las familias en el condado de Hernando durante el huracán Hermine. El gobernador Scott dijo, "el huracán Hermine fue el primer huracán en golpear a nuestro estado en más de una década, y me siento orgulloso de nuestros muchos socorristas que valientemente respondieron al llamado

Governor Scott Awards Six Officers with Medals of Heroism Tallahassee, FL – During October 25th meeting of the Florida Cabinet, Governor Rick Scott recognized six Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) officers with the Medal of Heroism for their bravery and service assisting families in Hernando County during Hurricane Hermine. Governor Scott said, “Hurricane Hermine was the first hurricane to hit our state in more than a decade, and I am proud of our many first responders who
bravely answered the call to help those in need. These six FWC officers are some of the many heroes who did not hesitate to put their own lives at risk in order to assist families affected by the dangerous flooding caused by this storm, and I am honored to recognize them with the Medal of Heroism today. While it is always important to have a plan in place and be prepared for any storm, we know our many first responders stand ready to keep our families safe and protected.” The following first responders
were recognized with the Medal of Heroism Award: •Lieutenant Kevin Grover •Officer Robyn Bergwerff •Officer Dave Spradlin •Officer Dan Fagan •Officer Scott Peterson •Officer Justin Henry FWC Commission Chairman Brian Yablonski said, “I want to thank Governor Scott for his support in honoring these six FWC officers. These six FWC officers helped conduct search and rescue missions and responded to many requests for assistance and evacuation during and immediately following Hurricane Hermine. Evacuations were performed using FWC boats and FWC vehicles due to high amounts of flooding. Their brave actions helped rescue many Floridians, including a pregnant resident and her child with water in their home. FWC officers immediately responded and helped safely evacuate both the mother and her 4-yearold daughter so a transport vehicle could take them to a safe residence.

NASA - Noticias / News Nave especial Cygnus conectada a la unidad modular de la Estación Espacial y materiales de la recién La nave Orbital ATK Cygnus (izq.) se puede ver a través de la ventana del módulo Cupola a bordo de la Estación Espacial Internacional el 23 de octubre de 2016. La estación robótica de trabajo principal para controlar el brazo robótico Canadarm2 está localizado dentro de Cupola y fue usado para capturar al Cygnus a su llegada. La tripulación de la Expedición 49 descargó aproximadamente 5,000 libras de material científico para investigación, alimentos

The cargo aboard the Cygnus will support dozens of new and existing investigations as the space station crews of Expeditions 49 and 50 contribute to about 250 science and research studies. XVI Semana Binacional de Salud Kissimmee, FL - El pasado sábado, 22 de octubre, el consulado de Colombia en Orlando y su Cónsul General, Eliana Pedrozo Eljach, llevó a cabo la XVI Semana Binacional de la Salud. También estuvieron presentes el Cónsul de México en Orlando, Juan Sabines Guerrero y la Presidenta de la Comisión del Condado Osceola, Viviana Janer. La feria contó con el apoyo de la Asociación Médica ColombianaAmericana (COAMED por sus siglas en inglés). Durante el evento se ofrecieron servicios médicos gratuitos y educación sobre salud. Entre los estudios médicos ofrecidos se hicieron audiometrías, exámenes visuales, presión arterial, glucosa, colesterol, mamografías, pruebas de cáncer del colon, VIH, vacunación contra la gripe y clases de Zumba entre otros. La actividad se realizó exitosamente en el Osceola Heritage Park en Kissimmee, donde también se hicieron trámites de pasaporte, autenticaciones, notarizaciones y autorización de salida de menores.
XVI Binational Health Week Kissimmee, FL - Last Saturday, October 22, the consulate of Colombia in Orlando and Consul General, Eliana Pedrozo Eljach, held the XVI Binational Health Week. Also present were the Consul of Mexico in Orlando, Juan Sabines Guerrero and Viviana Janer, Chairwoman of Osceola Commission. The fair was supported by the Colombian-American Medical Association (COAMED). During the free event medical and health education services were offered. Among the medical studies offered hearing tests, eye exams, blood pressure, glucose, cholesterol, mammograms, colon cancer screening, HIV, influenza vaccination and Zumba classes among others they were made. The activity was successfully held at Osceola Heritage Park in Kissimmee, where passport formalities, authentication, and authorization notarization departure of minors were also made.

Condado Osceola, FL - El pasado martes, 25 de octubre, la Cámara de Comercio del Condado Kissimmee/Osceola celebró el Debate para la Comisión del Condado Osceola 2016 en el Ramada Gateway Hotel. Antes de que el evento se iniciará hubo un enfrentamiento por parte del candidato no partidista por el Distrito 3, Tony Ferentions, cuando este llegó y cuestionó el por qué no había sido invitado a debatir. Ferentinos afirmó, además, que se trata de una discriminación contra los candidatos no partidistas (NPA, por sus siglas en inglés).
Osceola County, FL - Last Tuesday, October 25th, the Kissimmee/ Osceola Chamber of Commerce held the Osceola County Commission Debate 2016 at the Ramada Gateway Hotel.
Después de discutir con el Sr. John Newstreet, presidente de la Cámara, este permitió que Ferentinos tomara parte en el debate, sin embargo, el candidato se negó a participar debido a no haber recibido previamente una invitación. El candidato republicano, Dr. Iván Rivera, quien sí fue invitado al debate, estuvo de acuerdo con Ferentinos y también se negó a participar y de manera similar llamó a esas acciones discriminatorias. En general, los candidatos que son independientes o deben ser añadidos a mano, no toman parte en los debates políticos tradicionales. La mayor parte de los debates se organizan con dos partes opuestas, que en los E.U. son el Partido Republicano y el Partido Demócrata.
Tras el incidente, el evento salió como estaba previsto, hubo tres candidatos a la Comisión del Condado Osceola presentes; Jed Suhl para el Distrito 1, Brandon Arrington para el Distrito 3, y Fred Hawkins para el Distrito 5. Uno de los temas abordados durante el debate fue en lo que respecta a la aplicación de una política actual del condado. La política que los candidatos discutieron tuvo que ver con las minorías y las mujeres dándoles acceso a contratos del Condado, hace unos 6 años una política establecida eran al menos el 25% de todos los contratos que debería dar a las minorías. Before the event started an issue was raised when non-partisan candidate for District 3, Tony Ferentinos, arrived questioning why he had not been invited to debate. Ferentinos further stated that this is discrimination against NPA candidates. After discussing, John Newstreet, President of the Chamber, allowed Ferentinos to take part in the debate, however, the candidate refused to partake due to him not previously receiving an invitation. Republican candidate Dr. Ivan Rivera who was invited to the debate agreed with Ferentinos and refused to participate and similarly called the actions discriminatory. Generally, candidates who are non-partisan or write in do not take part in traditional political debates. Most of the debates are organized with two opposing parties, which in the U.S. are; Republican and Democratic Party. Following the incident, the event went as planned, there were three Osceola County Commission candidates in attendance; Jed Suhl for District 1, Brandon Arrington for
District 3, and Fred Hawkins for District 5. One of the issues addressed during the debate was in regards to enforcing a current county policy. The policy the candidates discussed concerned minorities and women accessing contracts from the County. The policy was established 6 years ago and ensured that 25% of all county contracts should be given to minorities. All candidates agreed that further improvements need to be made in order to gain a larger contract percentage towards minorities and females. Likewise, all candidates agreed the two main sources of income within Osceola are; tourism and agriculture. The candidates discussed how they would like to enforce the development of both areas to further benefit the community. Each agreed that changing the Kissimmee Convention and Visitors Bureau from County managed to privately managed now called Experience Kissimmee was working effectively. The candidates have long term plans to deal with the development of the infrastructure in order to accommodate for the increasing population.

Inmigración / Immigration USCIS anuncia regla final de ajuste de tarifas de solicitudes y peticiones de beneficios Washington, D.C. – El Servicio de Ciudadanía e Inmigración de Estados Unidos (USCIS, por sus siglas en inglés) anunció el 24 de octubre de 2016 una regla final publicada hoy en el Registro Federal que ajusta las tarifas requeridas para la mayoría de las solicitudes y peticiones de inmigración. Estas tarifas entrarán efecto el 23 de diciembre. USCIS está financiado casi en su totalidad por las tarifas pagadas por los solicitantes y peticionarios de beneficios de inmigración. USCIS Announces Final Rule Adjusting Immigration Benefit Application and Petition Fees Washington, D.C. – U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services announced on October 24th 2016, a final rule published in the Federal Register today adjusting the fees required for most immigration applications and petitions. The new fees will be effective Dec. 23. USCIS is almost entirely funded by the fees paid by applicants and petitioners for immigration benefits. The law requires USCIS to conduct fee reviews every two years to determine the funding levels necessary to administer the nation’s immigration laws, process benefit requests and provide the infrastructure needed to support those activities. Fees will increase for the first time in six years, by a weighted average of 21 percent for most applications and petitions. This increase is necessary to recover the full cost of services provided by USCIS. These include the costs associated with fraud detection and national security, customer service and case processing, and providing services without charge to refugee and asylum applicants and to other customers eligible for fee waivers or exemptions.
USCIS Director León Rodríguez. "We are mindful of the effect fee increases have on many of the customers we serve. That’s why we decided against raising fees as recommended after the fiscal year 2012 and 2014 fee reviews. However, as an agency dependent upon users’ fees to operate, these changes are now necessary to ensure we can continue to serve our customers effectively. Nuevo Centro Educativo de Construcción FTC Kissimmee Opens Doors of New y Tecnología abre sus puertas en FTC de Construction Trade and Technology Education Kissimmee Center Kissimmee, FL - El Florida Technical College, Recinto de Kissimmee, abrió oficialmente el jueves, 27 de octubre, su nuevo Centro Educativo de Construcción y Tecnología. Kissimmee, FL – Florida Technical College Kissimmee Campus officially opened on Thursday its new Construction Trade and Technology Education Center. The facilities are a state-of-the art training ground in a myriad of construction disciplines, including welding, electrical and HVAC. The construction industry is currently generating almost as many jobs in Central Florida as the hospitality industry. En Español - Desfile Puertorriqueño Desfile Puertorriqueño de la Florida Kissimmee, FL - Como ya es tradición cada año, El Desfile Puertorriqueño de la Florida bajo el Centro Cultural Puertorriqueño, se llevará a cabo nuevamente celebrando su Sexto Aniversario. FAFSA - Noticias / News Cambios en proceso de solicitud de ayuda financiera se beneficiarán estudiantes universitarios Orlando, FL - Para los estudiantes que se inscriben en la universidad, y solicitan ayuda financiera, esta se ha hecho un poco más fácil. Comenzando con el año escolar 2017-18, dos grandes cambios tendrán un impacto el proceso de solicitud gratuita para ayuda federal a estudiantes (FAFSA). Starting with the 2017-18 school year, two major changes will impact the Free Application for the Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). First, FAFSA forms can be filed as early as October 1, 2016, instead of January 1, 2017. In addition to relieving deadline pressure for high school seniors and returning college students, this allows more time to explore financial aid options and meet state and school deadlines. Students and parents are encouraged to utilize this extended period and apply early to increase their chances of securing funding. Second, students (and parents, as appropriate) will be required to report income and tax information from an earlier tax year. For example, on the 2017-18 FAFSA, filers will report their 2015 information. Estimating currentyear taxes – and then re-entering the correct numbers at a later time – is now a thing of the past. “Submitting FAFSA paperwork is a crucial first step for students
who need monetary assistance, so we’re glad to see these changes taking effect,” said Ray Larsen, vice president for collective impact at Heart of Florida United Way. Throughout America, there is a need for more awareness about the financial aid process. Locally, fewer than half of all high school seniors completed a FAFSA application last year. Sheriff - Police - Noticias / News Detienen tres sospechosos por estafa con 3 Suspects Arrested for Skimming Device dispositivo de escaneo Scam Based on the information, detectives Condado Osceola – Los agentes del Sheriff del Condado Osceola arrestaron a Ciprian-Viorel Vartollomei, Marius Sandu y Tamas Lorinc Falvi y los acusaron de Uso de un Dispositivo de Escaneo. Dos restaurantes de estilo asiático fueron robaron dentro de los límites de la Ciudad de Kissimmee entre el domingo, 23 de octubre de 2016 y el lunes, 24 de octubre de 2016. Kissimmee Police Arrest Man for Business Burglary Kissimmee, FL – Kissimmee police arrested 39-year-old John Scalise for burglary to a business. Two Asian style restaurants were burglarized within the City of Kissimmee between Sunday, October 23, 2016 and Monday, October 24, 2016. The businesses affected were China Bell located at 4382 W. Vine Street and Osaka’s located at 3155 W. Vine Street. The method of operation fit other burglaries that occurred in neighboring jurisdictions. The Kissimmee Police Department’s Special Operations and Investigations Division conducted an operation based on this burglary trend. During the operation, detectives witnessed John Scalise forcibly enter New

Orlando City terminó su temporada Orlando, FL - Con una de sus mejores actuaciones en el campo hasta la fecha, la temporada llegó a su fin. Con la victoria 4-2 sobre D.C. United, los leones jugaron su último partido en el Camping World Stadium frente a 30,022 aficionados. Kevin Molino, que ha estado con el club durante 6 años, abrió el marcador para Orlando. Kaká duplicó la ventaja con un tiro fácil al fondo de la red. DC respondió añadiendo presión a su ofensiva y consiguió su primer gol a los 43 minutos de juego. Cristian Higuita hizo el tercer gol a los 49 minutos con un potente tiro desde la parte superior del campo. DC anotó su gol final en el minuto
78, pero Orlando mantuvo la posesión del balón en los minutos restantes del juego. Julio Baptista marcó el punto final para Orlando justo antes de finalizar el tiempo regular. Orlando, FL - With one of their best performances on the field to date, the season ended. In the 4-2 victory over D.C. United, the Lions played their final match at Camping World Stadium in front of 30,022 fans. Kevin Molino, who has been with the club for 6 years, opened the scoring for Orlando. Kaka doubled their lead with an easy shot to the far post. D.C. responded adding pressure to their offense and got their first goal in the 43rd minute of play. Cristian Higuita made it 3 goals in the 49th minute with a powerful strike from the top of the box. D.C. scored their final goal in the 78th minute but Orlando maintained possession for the remaining minutes of the game. Julio Baptista scored the final point
for Orlando just before the end of regulation. This win was an incredible send off to an otherwise mediocre season. Orlando finished in 8th place. Orlando City will play the 2017 season in their completed stadium. Coach Kreis believes their win over D.C. was a sign of things to come and left fans with a great vision of what to expect next season.

Orlando Magic abre su temporada regular Orlando, FL - El Magic de Orlando abrió su temporada regular en casa el miércoles por la noche contra el Heat de Miami. La organización honró a las víctimas del tiroteo en la discoteca Pulse. Ellos levantaron una pancarta con el número 49, por el número de víctimas, y Orlando United. A un paso de los shows en vivo, los chicos se enfrentaron el último reto de Los Middle Rounds: grabar su primer un videoclip. Los jueces los dividieron en cuatro bandas. La primera de ellas fue Futuro, conformada por Taishmara, Andrea, Jeidimar, Edward y Alex La Torre. “Can’t Stop Dancing” de Becky G y J. Balvin fue el tema con el que los chicos trabajaron árduamente.

La Banda The last episode of the Middle Rounds in La Banda was an emotional roller coaster, 16 moved to the next round of La Banda, while eight said goodbye to their dream. Just one step from live shows, the performers will be challenged with their last test of the Middle Rounds: film their first music video. The judges divided the group in four bands. The first one of them was ‘Futuro’, formed by Taishmara, Andrea, Jeidimar, Edward, and Alex La Torre. “Can’t Stop Dancing” performed by Becky G y J. Balvin was the song with which the group worked very hard. The next turn was for ‘Milenios’. Abdiel, Fabyán, Alondra, Sofía, Verónica and Abel demonstrated with “Cake By The Ocean” that their passion in rehersals paid off and knowing that they had the last chance to perform in front of the judges was not an obstacle to shine on their music video. After seeing the final product, the fans selected ‘Urbanos’ band as the best. The judges on the other hand, decided that Danelly and Christian will participate of the life show. After a long deliberation, Laura, Mario and Wisin decided the 16 participants that would continue to the next round. They are: Zhamira, Fabyán, Verónica, Taishmara, Abel, Sofía, Félix, Garmandy, Abdiel, Megamy, Brian, Aimeé, Edward and Alondra.
