Los Patrones de la Biblioteca de la sucursal de Buenaventura Lakes vieron todo esto y más en pantalla durante la "Gran Re-apertura" el martes. "La biblioteca es sin duda más atractiva y fácil de usar, como resultado de este proyecto", dijo La Presidenta de la Comisión Viviana Janer. Patrons of the Buenaventura Lakes Branch library saw all this and more on display during a “Grand ReOpening”. “The library is definitely more inviting and user-friendly as a result of this project,” said Commission Chairwoman Viviana Janer. “I’m delighted the county had the foresight to make this investment in our citizens’ future. The library’s services and resources are a vital support system for many residents

The Buenaventura Lakes Branch is the first of the County’s libraries to complete renovations, which are part of a $5 million program launched earlier this spring. Work in St. Cloud is scheduled for August, followed by work at the Kissimmee branch.

Osceola County Approves Option for Cannabis Citation Osceola County, FL – Law enforcement officers in Osceola County now have the option of issuing a $100 civil citation to anyone found with 20 grams or less of marijuana or marijuana paraphernalia after County Commissioners unanimously approved a new ordinance. “Jail is not always the best option in cases that involve someone who has made a mistake and is caught with a small amount of marijuana,” said Commission Chairwoman Viviana Janer. “This is a tool for law enforcement that will help keep some young people out of the system, so their futures aren’t marred by a lapse in judgement. Across the country, cities and states have taken measures to relax marijuana rules. Just last year, the Florida state legislature passed the Charlotte’s Web law allowing the sale of marijuana for certain medical uses. Volusia County and the City of Orlando recently have passed rules similar to Osceola’s. The ordinance will take effect in 30 days and applies countywide, unless the cities of St. Cloud and Kissimmee choose to opt out.

El centro es uno de 60 centros ya instalados en el país. Los centros de tecnología son parte de un esfuerzo constante que lleva a cabo el programa de LULAC para Empoderar a Ciudadanos Latinos en América con tecnología y asegurar que la comunidad Latina tenga acceso al uso de tecnología confiable y productiva. AT&T provides technology for Empowerment Centers for Latinos in America LULAC Orlando, FL – Last Friday, June 24, the League of United Latin America Citizens (LULAC) Institute, with the support of AT&T, unveiled a newly upgraded Technology Center with state-of-the-art equipment in Orlando. The new center located at the Latino Leadership, Inc. facilities, is one of 60 such centers around the country. The centers are part of an ongoing effort led by LULAC’s Empower Hispanic America with Techonology program to ensure that the Latino community has access to dependable and useful technology. Upgrades to the center included computer equipment, office applications software, and technology curriculum.
Latino Leadership, Inc. serves the Hispanic community in Central Florida through several key programs, including the Santiago & Friends Family Center for Autism which provides culturally – and linguistically – sensitive services to families impacted by autism. Visitors to the center will have access to equipment to make their resumes and job applications and complete college works. The technology will also be used for GED preparation, investigation and search of assistance programs, access to online services and programs for citizens to find work. The Center is located at 8617 E. Colonial Drive, Suite 1600, Orlando, FL 32817 and is open from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

We Remember the 49 Lives Lost in Orlando with 49 Flags for 49 Days Tallahassee, FL– On June 24th, as a memorial of those who lost their lives during the Orlando terror attack, Governor Rick Scott directed 49 Florida state flags to be placed in front of the Florida Historic Capitol in Tallahassee for 49 days. Under each flag displays the name, age and photo of every victim of the terror attack. Governor Rick Scott said, “The memory of this horrific tragedy will never be forgotten, as well as the legacies of each of the 49 victims. While we can never completely heal from the pain of such loss, we continue to be reminded of each life taken in Orlando and their individual impact on so many. We mourn with the families and loved ones as they grieve, and ask all Floridians to continue praying for those affected by the terror attack in the coming days. This memorial will be a place to remember and honor their lives.”

El evento fue organizado por la Cámara de Comercio Hispana de Metro Orlando con la colaboración de la comunidad hispana. Major Airport Construction Project to Impact Travelers at Orlando Airport Orlando, FL — The $3.1 billion Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) approved by the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority board, is taking shape at Orlando International Airport. A key component of the progress, that will impact everyone departing the airport to the south, can be seen with the re-routing of southbound Jeff Fuqua Blvd. The new route takes travelers on a sky bridge overlooking the future Intermodal Terminal Facility (ITF) and South Airport Automated People Mover Complex. The new roadway opened to traffic on June 8, 2016. The multi-year plan of major capital projects establishes target years for implementation of projects based on expected annual passengers, as well as establishing options for funding. The program of investment and improvement is linked to GOAA’s strategic goals and projects are developed from the Authority’s Master Plan process. The CIP for FY 2016-2023 includes projects to enhance the North Terminal Complex (NTC), construction of the South Airport Automated People Mover (APM) Complex and Intermodal Terminal Facility (ITF), along with funding for the $1.8 billion South Terminal Complex (STC) Phase 1-Terminal C project to begin in early 2017. The objectives of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority’s Capital Improvement Plan are to both upgrade and create new facilities that will set the standard for excellence in customer service. Projects include: •North Terminal Complex •Airside 4 •South Airport APM Complex & Intermodal Terminal Facility •South Terminal Facility Phase Construction on Phase 1 of the South Terminal Complex could begin as early as the first quarter of 2017 and be operational by 2019.

Festival de la Familia, 2do Aniversario de Plaza del Sol Kissimmee, FL Plaza del Sol celebró su 2do aniversario el sábado, 25 de junio, con el Festival de la Familia un evento lleno de música, regalos, actividades y sorpresas. En el Festival las familias disfrutaron de la presentación de Anna y Elsa de Frozen, princesas de Disney, rifas de bicicletas para niños, un torneo de Domino con Domino USA, de una exposición de carros y pintura de rostro, juegos e inflables para niños. Además de las actuación de la cantante de bachata, Giselle Tavera, y la presentación del Centro Integral de
Artes. Sobre un total de 50 niños fueron a casa con nuevas bicicletas. Water parks, pools and other aquatic facilities around the globe hosted local lessons in an attempt to break the Guinness World Record.
This was St. Cloud’s sixth year participating in this worldwide attempt to break the record. Beginners learned how to be safe in and around the water and intermediate-and-above swimmers can refresh their skills. The lesson plan for the participants included safety, entry, breathing/ submerging, floating and strokes.
