El Pasado Domingo, 19 junio, se realizó una vigilia en honor a la víctimas del ataque en la discoteca Pulse, donde más de 50,000 personas se reunieron para recordar y mostrar respeto a los afectados. On Sunday, June 19th, a vigil in honor to the victims of the attack at Pulse was realized where more than 50,000 people met remembering and showing their respect for the affected.

The library’s services and resources are a vital support system for many residents and we’ve made this branch a focal point for everyone.”
The Buenaventura Lakes Branch Library, located at 405 Buenaventura Boulevard in Kissimmee, has recently reopened after undergoing significant improvements to the interior and exterior of the building.

Volusia County and the City of Orlando recently have passed rules similar to Osceola’s. The ordinance will take effect in 30 days and applies countywide, unless the cities of St. Cloud and Kissimmee choose to opt out.

IRS Warns Consumers of Possible Scams Relating to Orlando Mass Shooting Washington ― The Internal Revenue Service issued a consumer alert about possible fake charity scams emerging due to last weekend’s mass shooting in Orlando, Fla., and encouraged taxpayers to seek out recognized charitable groups.
• Don’t give out personal financial information — such as Social Security numbers or credit card and bank account numbers and passwords — to anyone who solicits a contribution. Scam artists may use this information to steal a donor’s identity and money.
When making donations to assist victims the terrible tragedy, there are simple steps taxpayers can take to ensure their hard-earned money goes to legitimate charities. IRS. gov has the tools taxpayers need to quickly and easily check out the status of charitable organizations.
• Don’t give or send cash. For security and tax record purposes, contribute by check or credit card or another way that provides documentation of the gift.
While there has been an enormous wave of support across the country for the victims and families of Orlando, it is common for scam artists to take advantage of this generosity by impersonating charities to get money or private information from well-meaning taxpayers. Puerto Rico - Noticias / News Gobernador depone ante el Comité Descolonizador de la ONU Nueva York – El gobernador de Puerto Rico Alejandro García Padilla se dirigió, el lunes 20 de junio, al Comité Descolonizador de la Organización de las Naciones Unidas (ONU) para exponer la incompatibilidad que recientemente ha mostrado Estados Unidos en su postura frente a su relación con Puerto Rico. El primer ejecutivo reclamó la ayuda del comité para que dentro del marco de la legalidad internacional y el Pacto Internacional de Derechos Civiles y Políticos, adoptado por la Asamblea General de la ONU, su relación con Estados Unidos se defina nuevamente basada en los principios de igualdad, respeto y el derecho a la autodeterminación del gobierno puertorriqueño. Estados Unidos le otorgó al pueblo de Puerto Rico la oportunidad de adoptar una constitución propia, la cual fue aprobada por el gobierno estadounidense y ratificada por el pueblo puertorriqueño. Sin embargo, Estados Unidos recientemente ha mostrado un cambio contradictorio en su postura que ha agravado la crisis fiscal por la que atraviesa el pueblo.
García Padilla aseguró que Estados Unidos ha pasado a establecer que Puerto Rico no se transformó en un ente político soberano y que bajo su estatus constitucional como territorio carente de soberanía, Puerto Rico está sujeto al poder plenario del Congreso. Consecuentemente, ante esta realidad, el país no tendría otra salida que acoger la legislación que actualmente se propone en el Congreso como solución a la crisis, aunque esto implique una crisis política tras ser sometidos a una Junta de Control federal con amplias facultades y poderes sobre el gobierno de Puerto Rico. El ejecutivo invitó a los miembros del Comité a “que lleven el caso de Puerto Rico ante la Asamblea General de la Organización de Naciones Unidas, y ante su Comité de Derechos Humanos, para que se encausen los procesos necesarios para el ejercicio del derecho a la autodeterminación en cumplimiento con las normas de legitimación establecidas por esta organización y el derecho internacional aplicable”.
Governor deposes before the UN Decolonization Committee New York - The Governor of Puerto Rico Alejandro Garcia Padilla spoke on Monday, June 20, to the Decolonization Committee of the United Nations (UN) to expose the incompatibility that the United States has recently shown in their stance with their relationship with Puerto Rico. The Chief Executive asked for the help of the committee so that within the framework of international legality and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, adopted by the General Assembly of the UN, its relationship with the United States is defined once again based on the principles of equality, respect and the right to self-determination of the Puerto Rican government. The United States gave the people of Puerto Rico the opportunity to adopt its own constitution, which was approved by the US government and ratified by the Puerto Rican people. Consequently, faced by this reality, the country would have no alternative but to welcome the legislation currently proposed in Congress as a solution to the crisis, even if this means a political crisis after being subjected to a federal Control Board with broad powers over the government of Puerto Rico. The Executive invited Committee members to "take the case of Puerto Rico before the General Assembly of the United Nations, and before its Human Rights Committee, so that the necessary processes for the exercise of the right to self-determination in compliance with the legitimacy standards set by this organization and the applicable international law, may be prosecuted."

Major Airport Construction Project to Impact Travelers at Orlando Airport Orlando, FL — The $3.1 billion Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) approved by the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority board, is taking shape at Orlando International Airport. Osceola County, Sheriff Breaks Ground on New Training Facility Osceola County, FL – A new training facility for the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office will prepare deputies for the realties faced in modern-day law enforcement. Officials broke ground Wednesday morning at the 101-acre site in east Osceola County. The first phase is budgeted at $13.7 million, while a second phase has a proposed budget of $5.4 million. “This training center will provide for all of the training needs, of not only the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, but law enforcement agencies throughout the area,” said Sheriff Bob Hansell. “The citizens of the county deserve the most highly trained deputies to respond to their issues. The county and the county
commissioners have worked well with us knowing the great need for this complex.” Phase 1 will include road improvements, a 300-yard shooting range, two pistol shooting ranges, a terrain shooting range, a ‘shoot house,’ and areas for driver training, including a skid pad. “Public safety is always the number are priority. Orlando City Vuelve a la MLS Después de la Tragedia Orlando, FL - ¿Qué haría usted ante la tragedia inenarrable? ¿Cómo se sentiría? ¿Qué diría? ¿Cómo trataría a las personas que le rodean? El 18 de junio, Orlando City volvió a jugar MLS después de un descanso de tres semanas para la Copa América Centenario contra el San José Earthquakes. Orlando City returns to MLS after Tragedy Orlando, FL - What would you do in the wake of unspeakable tragedy? How would you feel? What would you say? How would you treat the people around you? On June 18, Orlando City returned to MLS play after a three-week break for Copa América Centenario against the San Jose Earthquakes. Every Orlando City match is infused with emotion, but this match was unique for a truly painful reason. Grief is a difficult emotion to process, and people do it in various ways. For many, hate and anger is an admittedly satisfying release of grief. It feels good to be angry and it’s very easy to allow hate to consume you. This match was an opportunity for the people of Orlando to reject that tempting descent into the very hate than
had victimized them. Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer addressed the importance of the match in helping the city move forward after such a horrific attack. However, what happened during the match wasn’t the focus of the world’s spotlight. It was the simple fact that the match was played; that people from all different backgrounds came together and, while wearing #OrlandoUnited t-shirts and waving rainbow flags, continued the healing process for a wounded city. With the whole world watching, 37,194 people proved that hate and anger would never have a place in a city as united as this one, only love. Walking onto the field to the tune of the Beatle’s “All You Need is Love,” Orlando City players donned rainbowcolored wristbands and black armbands in solidarity
with a traumatized LGBTQ+ community. The crowd, in unison, sang the national anthem. In the 49th minute, the ball was kicked out of play and silence overcame the normally raucous stadium in remembrance of the innocent victims who died as a result of the shooting. When Orlando City defender scored the match’s first goal in the 67th minute, he ripped off his rainbow wristband and waved it to the crowd, thumping the #OrlandoUnited patch on his jersey. Hines was asked after the game why he made these gestures. It was indeed more than just a game; it was a statement. The last second equalizer by San Jose, as hard as it was to stomach for a grieving fan base, won’t take away from the fact that almost 40,000 people left the stadium more united than they could ever be.
