Homenaje A Ti Mujer ¡Homenaje a ti Mujer 2016! Como cada año y este es el 6to, Tu Revista Mujer, llevó a cabo su evento “Homenaje a ti Mujer”. Bajo la dirección de sus organizadores Jackie Méndez y Omayra de los Santos pudimos disfrutar de un evento muy cuidado con muchos lindos detalles y sobre todo con mucha emotividad, donde se rindió tributo a 12 mujeres que por diferentes motivos se han distinguido en nuestra comunidad. Y han hecho cosas importantes en las diferentes áreas donde se desenvuelven.

En el evento y con la colaboración y voz de Sandra Carrasquillo, Mariela Chópite y Omayra de los Santos, se leyeron las biografías de cada una de ellas, donde pudimos conocer más de sus vidas y compartir cosas muy personales que nos inspiran y motivan para que todas las mujeres puedan brillar y cada año sean más las mujeres a las que se les siga otorgando este reconocimiento. Muchas felicidades a Jackie y a Omayra por esta gran idea.

Homenaje a ti Mujer 2016 As every year and this is the 6th, Tu Revista Mujer, held its event "Homenaje a ti Mujer". Under the direction of coordinators Jackie Mendez and Omayra de los Santos, we were able to enjoy a wonderful event with many beautiful details, and above all very touching, where 12 women who for various reasons have distinguished themselves in our community, received tribute. They have done important things in the different areas where they are active. At the event, and with the collaboration and voices of Sandra Carrasquillo, Mariela Chópite and Omayra de los Santos, the biography of each of them was read through which we were able to learn more about their lives and share very personal things that inspire and motivate us so that all women can shine and each year more women can continue to receive this recognition.

Osceola County Servicios de Animales del Condado Osceola comienza iniciativa de verano Condado Osceola, Fl – El Departamento de Servicios de Animales del Condado Osceola está participando en un concurso único en su clase con dos refugios de animales de la Florida Central para aumentar el número de animales que consiguen un "hogar para siempre" durante una temporada cuando normalmente aumenta la demanda de servicios. Animal Services Begins Summer Push Osceola County Osceola County, Florida – Osceola County Animal Services is joining a unique competition with two other Central Florida animal shelters to increase the number of animals that find “forever homes” during a season when demand for services typically increases. In a challenge to boost adoptions, rescues and reclaims in the months of June, July and August shelters in Osceola, Orange and Seminole will strive to increase their numbers from those same months in 2015. The shelter with the highest percent increase will be named the victor. “It’s great to see the three shelters teaming up to increase

awareness about shelter pets and the need to place these animals in loving homes,” said Cheryl Grieb, Vice Chairwoman of the Osceola Commission. “The competition months will offer exciting deals and incentives for adopters and volunteers. For those considering adoption, this is the best time to save a life and score for the shelter and the pet.” In total, approximately 2 million residents among the three counties will see adoption promotions and messages for responsible pet ownership. Each shelter will be reducing standard adoption fees by at least 50 percent.

IRS - Noticias / News Estafa sobre falso “impuesto federal para estudiantes” Washington — El Servicio de Impuestos Internos (IRS) emitió una advertencia a los contribuyentes sobre las llamadas telefónicas falsas de estafadores pretendiendo ser del IRS exigiendo el pago de un impuesto inexistente, el impuesto federal para estudiantes". Latest Scam Involving Bogus “Federal Student Tax” • Pretending to be from Washington — The Internal Revenue Service issued a warning to taxpayers about bogus phone calls from IRS impersonators demanding payment for a nonexistent tax, the “Federal Student Tax.” Even though the tax deadline has come and gone, scammers continue to use varied strategies to trick people, in this case students. In this newest twist, they try to convince people to wire money immediately to the scammer. If the victim does not fall quickly enough for this fake “federal student tax”, the scammer threatens to report the student to the police. “These scams and schemes continue to evolve nationwide, and now they’re trying to trick students,” said IRS Commissioner John Koskinen. “Taxpayers should remain vigilant and not fall prey to these aggressive calls demanding immediate payment of a tax supposedly owed.” Scam artists frequently masquerade as being from the IRS, a tax company and sometimes even a state revenue department. Many scammers use threats to intimidate and bully people into paying a tax bill. They may even threaten to arrest, deport or revoke the driver’s license of their victim if they don’t get the money. Some examples of the varied tactics seen this year are: • Demanding immediate tax payment for taxes owed on an iTunes gift card. • Soliciting W-2 information from payroll and human resources professionals (IR-2016-34) • “Verifying” tax return information over the phone (IR-2016-40)

If you get a phone call from someone claiming to be from the IRS and asking for money and you don’t owe taxes, here’s what you should do: • Do not give out any information. Hang up immediately. • Contact TIGTA to report the call. Use their IRS Impersonation Scam Reporting web page or call 800366-4484. • Report it to the Federal Trade Commission by visiting FTC.gov and clicking on “File a Consumer Complaint.” Please add “IRS Telephone Scam” in the notes. • If you think you might owe taxes, call the IRS directly at 1-800-8291040. Toy clinic at new pediatric unit Kissimmee, FL – On Saturday, June 4, Osceola Regional Medical Center and Nemours Children’s Health System hosted a community open house at the hospital’s newly opened, state-of-the art Pediatric Department. The $7 million facility includes a six-room pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) – the first in Osceola County. The 14,000-square-foot expansion

more than quadruples the size of the previous pediatric area. In addition to the PICU, the department includes eight pediatric private rooms and a recently renovated Pediatric Emergency Department. During the open house, attendees toured the new facility and met with hospital staff. Children brought dolls and plush animals to a “toy clinic” for a pretended check-up.

Hispanic Business Conference & Expo Cámara de Comercio Hispana celebra con éxito la Conferencia y Exposición Hispana de Negocios "Como hablar 'Millennial'", y "Acceso Orlando, FL - La Cámara Comercio Hispana de Metro Orlando (HCCMO, por sus siglas en inglés), presentó con éxito La Conferencia de Negocios y Exposición Hispana (HBCE, por sus siglas en inglés), que se llevó a cabo el pasado fin de semana en el Centro de Convenciones del Condado Orange. SBA y HCCMO firman Memorando de Alianza Estratégica Orlando, FL - La Administración de Pequeños Negocios (SBA, por sus siglas en inglés) firmó un Memorando de Alianza Estratégica (SAM, por sus siglas en inglés) con la Cámara de Comercio de Metro Orlando (HCCMO, por sus siglas en inglés), el viernes, 3 de junio, como parte del seminario Acceso al Capital durante la Conferencia y Exposición de Negocios Hispanos de la HCCMO. The Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Metro Orlando Celebrates Successful Hispanic Business Conference & Expo Orlando, FL - The Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Metro Orlando (HCCMO) presented the Hispanic Business Conference & Expo (HBCE) from June 2-4, 2016 at the Orange County Convention Center. The HBCE further emphasized the interests of the local business community, consumer community, and corporations at this year's event. The HBCE began on Thursday, June 2nd with a Connecting the Dots Speed Networking session, followed by an Employee Resource Group forum, and culminated with a Business reception event. The day was filled with more than 400 enthusiastic professionals of all levels of the business community. The HBCE program continued the following day with another business focused agenda that started with a welcome breakfast featuring a C-level panel discussion on The Power of the Latino Vote. Breakfast was followed by four different workshops focused on key areas in the business community; International Trade, Public Affairs, Marketing, and Professional Development. Topics in these sections included "How to Speak Millennial," and "Access to Capital." More than 700 professionals attendes the conference luncheon that featured a C-level panel discussion on Lessons in Leadership. The closing of the Business Conference gave way to the commencement of the consumer expo portion of the HBCE. SBA and HCCMO signed Strategic Alliance Memorandum Orlando, FL - The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) signed a Strategic Alliance Memorandum (SAM) with the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Metro Orlando (HCCMO), Friday, June 3, as part of the Access to Capital seminar during the HCCMO Hispanic Business Conference and Expo. The purpose of the SAM agreement is to develop a mutual understanding and a strong working relationship between SBA and the HCCMO to foster small business development and expansion, especially within

Kissimmee, FL – Kissimmee Utility Authority publicó el 1ro de junio, su Manual de Huracanes Osceola 2016, una guía de preparación integral gratuita que se ofrece anualmente a los residentes del Condado Osceola.

Barreto, el ganador del gran premio en 2016, del concurso de arte por estudiante para el calendario de la utilidad, estaba de la mano de su familia y compañeros de clase para presentar oficialmente el vehículo a la comunidad. Utility Unveils New Energy Conservation Vehicle conduct free home energy audits Kissimmee, FL – With the assistance of second grader Onixxjoe Barreto of Sunrise Elementary School, Kissimmee Utility Authority unveiled a newly-wrapped vehicle in its energy conservation fleet. Barreto, the grand prize winner in the utility’s 2016 student calendar art contest, was on hand with his family and classmates to officially introduce the vehicle to the community. The van features Barreto’s name, artwork and photo and will be used by utility technicians over the next year to

Open to Osceola County students in kindergarten through fifth grade, the annual art contest is designed to promote energy conservation among students and their families. KUA Releases 2016 Hurricane Preparedness Guide Kissimmee, FL – Kissimmee Utility Authority released on June 1st its 2016 Osceola Hurricane Handbook, a free comprehensive preparedness guide offered annually to Osceola County residents.

A partnership between KUA, Osceola County, the cities of Kissimmee and St. Cloud and the UF IFAS Extension in Osceola County, the 40page handbook features an illustrated monster named Stormy who tests the storm readiness of area residents. The guide includes information on emergency shelters, evacuation routes, generator safety and power outage restoration as well as helpful telephone numbers, a disaster supplies checklist and a tropical cyclone tracking chart. The handbook can be downloaded from KUA's website at www.kua.com/ hurricane. Printed copies of the handbook will be available beginning mid-June in the lobby of KUA's customer service center, located at 1701 W. Carroll Street in Kissimmee. Sheriff - Noticias / News Arrestan sospechoso de Asesinato en Primer Grado Condado Osceola – Los detectives del Sheriff del Condado Osceola detuvieron a Elvis Paul Tillett y lo acusaron de Asesinato en Primer Grado. La investigación comenzó el 5 de junio, aproximadamente a las 3:12 p.m. cuando los agentes respondieron al 312 Mariana Way en Kissimmee. A su llegada encontraron a la víctima, un hombre de 29 años, tirado en el pavimento con una aparente herida de bala. La víctima fue transportada al Centro Médico de Poinciana, donde poco tiempo después murió.

Openings for June 13 Self-Defense Awareness Program for Women

Elvis Paul Tillett (DOB 12/23/58), 312 Mariana Way, Kissimmee custody but he did not cooperate with the investigation. Based on the evidence and witness statements, Tillett was charged with First Degree Murder and booked into the Osceola County Jail with no bond.

Osceola County - The Osceola County Sheriff's Office has openings for a selfdefense awareness program for women scheduled for June 13 at 6:00 p.m. Self Defense Awareness Familiarization Exchange or SAFE is designed to educate women on how to protect themselves if they should become a victim. The 2-hour class teaches that 90% of self-defense is awareness, risk reduction and avoiding confrontation, while only 10% is physical.

“Taking responsibility and educating yourself is the first step in staying safe. Although you may not be able to prevent an attack from occurring, there are ways to protect yourself and lessen your chances of becoming a victim,” states Sheriff Hansell. Two Suspects Arrested for Sexual Battery Osceola County – On June 5th at approximately 5:33 a.m., Osceola County Sheriff's deputies took a report of a possible sexual battery. The victim told deputies she and a friend were staying at a local hotel in Kissimmee. On June 4, they met two men and invited them back to their hotel room. The victim's friend said she fell asleep and when she woke up she witnessed the suspect having sex with the victim, who was unconscious. The other man, later identified as Isaac Pierre, held the friend down and did not allow her to call for help or assist the victim. The men eventually left the room and the victim's friend called law enforcement.

The victim was taken to a local hospital and it was determined she may have been given unknown drugs. On June 6, detectives located the suspect, identified as Leedrew Wallace-Harris, a registered felon and he cooperated with the investigation. Based on his statements, Harris was arrested and charged with Sexual Battery, Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was booked into the Osceola County Jail. A felony warrant was obtained for Pierre for Principle to Sexual Battery and Battery. On June 7, he was located and booked into the Osceola County Jail with no bond.
