Poinciana - Noticias / News Personal de enfermería asume rol de "persona mayor por un día" Poinciana, FL - Asistentes de enfermería certificados (CNA, por sus siglas en inglés) del Poinciana Medical Center recientemente se pusieron guantes de tela, guantes de goma y gafas para experimentar lo que se siente ser un paciente anciano - y practicar sus habilidades para cuidado a las personas mayores. Los pacientes mayores con frecuencia tienen deficiencias sensoriales, tales como pérdida de sensibilidad en las manos y visión reducida. En un esfuerzo por proporcionar un cuidado experto para estos pacientes, los CNA completaron la formación para convertirse en Asociados en Cuidado de Pacientes Geriátricos. Tomaron parte en actividades prácticas para experimentar de primera mano las limitaciones comunes de los pacientes. También comieron el almuerzo llevando guantes y gafas.
"Esta formación da a nuestro personal la oportunidad de no sólo mejorar su educación sanitaria, sino también de obtener una mejor comprensión de las necesidades específicas de la población de edad avanzada", dijo Sheree Halterman, Directora de Cuidados Intensivos y Unidades de Cuidados Progresivos del Centro Médico de Poinciana. "El objetivo es dotar al personal con los conocimientos y herramientas necesarias para hacer un impacto duradero en nuestros pacientes; para hacerles saber que estamos aquí para ellos". La capacitación forma parte del programa del hospital Mejorando el Cuidado de los Enfermeros para Healthsystem Elders (NICHE, por sus siglas en inglés), un estándar a nivel nacional por su excelencia en el cuidado de ancianos. El hospital, un centro de HCA North Florida, recibió la certificación NICHO en noviembre del 2015.
Nursing staff take roles as “Seniors for a Day” during hands-on training Poinciana, FL – Certified nursing assistants (CNAs) at Poinciana Medical Center recently donned mittens, gloves and glasses to experience what it’s like to be an aging patient – and practice their skills caring for seniors. Older patients often have sensory impairments, such as loss of sensitivity in their hands and reduced vision. In an effort to provide expert care for these patients, the CNAs completed training to become Geriatric Patient Care Associates. They took part in hands-on activities to experience common patient limitations first-hand. They also ate lunch wearing their gloves and glasses. “This training gives our staff the opportunity to not only further their
healthcare education, but also gain a better understanding of the specialized needs of the elderly population,” said Sheree Halterman, Director of Poinciana Medical Center’s Intensive Care and Progressive Care units. “The goal is to equip the staff with the knowledge and tools needed to make a lasting impact on our patients; to let them know that we are here for them.” The training is part of the hospital’s Nurses Improving Care for Healthsystem Elders (NICHE) program, a nationwide standard for excellence in senior care. The hospital, an HCA North Florida facility, received NICHE certification in Nov. 2015.

City of Orlando Announces New HOLA Office Coordinator Orlando, FL – Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer is pleased to announce the selection of Ana L. City of Kissimmee Launches New Logo and New Progress Website Kissimmee, FL - The City of Kissimmee announces the launch of a new City logo and a new website, to help better communicate with the public the services, activities and projects the City is involved with. The new logo will be used in conjunction with the City’s official seal and will be visible on business cards, advertisements and marketing collateral. The new website, www. kissimmee.org/progress, will help keep the community informed about current City infrastructure projects, including start and completion dates, project costs and renderings. “The launch of the new logo will help better identify all of the services and programming the City offers every day and compliments our official seal, which reflects the great history we have here in Kissimmee. The new website will be a onestop shop for the public, so they
can stay up to date on where and when projects are being completed all throughout the City” said City Manager, Mike Steigerwald. The creation of the new logo involved a several month-long process that involved input from community stakeholders, City staff and Commissioners. MCO Aeropuerto / Airport - Noticias / News OIA da Pasos Firmes para Asegurar Agilidad durante la Temporada Alta de Verano Orlando, FL - Con un crecimiento de doble dígito en el último año y como terminal para el destino más visitado del país, la Greater Orlando Aviation Authority (GOAA) ha tomado una función de industria líder para garantizar un acceso eficaz y más rápido a través del proceso de control de seguridad en el Orlando International Airport (MCO). OIA Takes Strong Steps to Ensure Expedited Travel during Busy Summer Season Orlando, FL - With double-digit growth in the past year and as the connector for the most visited destination in the country, the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority (GOAA) has taken an industry leading role in ensuring efficient and quicker access through the security screening process at Orlando International Airport (MCO). GOAA Initiatives for Efficient, Customer-Focused, Passenger Security Screening: •GOAA is actively managing the queues in front of both checkpoints •GOAA personnel, including contract Ambassadors, are active at the checkpoints performing non-security functions (i.e. assisting passengers with divesting of metal objects, water, weapons and providing information about identification and documents needed for expedited screening along with moving of divesting bins) •GOAA has started the process to introduce privately staffed and operated employee-only security checkpoint lanes to facilitate more passenger throughput for regular security checkpoint operations, freeing up TSA personnel for more direct expedited customer service • GOAA meets with TSA officials on a daily basis to review and anticipate
peak travel times and assign personnel accordingly • GOAA has invested in software to help analyze checkpoint wait times to better anticipate and respond to fluctuations in traffic patterns • GOAA continuously monitors various social media platforms to identify any positive or negative trends for real-time public response to checkpoint activities • GOAA has collaborated with TSA to redesign checkpoint signage to better inform travelers of steps in the screening process • GOAA has initiated customer-friendly terminal entertainment to help reduce stress for travelers prior to entering the security checkpoints Also, in order to keep passengers informed, since its release, the Orlando International Airport app has been downloaded by thousands of iPhone and Android users to enhance their MCO travel experience. The app was developed to provide flight information and ease airport wayfinding through the use of 1,000 wireless beacons. Orlando International became the first U.S. airport to employ beacon technology to facilitate Blue Dot real-time navigation throughout the entire airport complex. Veterans Day Celebración del Día de los Veteranos Orlando, FL - El pasado lunes, 30 de mayo, la Fundación del Parque Memorial de Veteranos de la Florida Central (CFVMPF, por sus siglas en inglés) celebró su ceremonia del Día de la Recordación en el Orlando VA Medical Center en Lake Nona. La Junta Administrativa del CFVMPF y veteranos de toda la Florida Central (Brevard, Lake, Orange, Osceola, Seminole y Volusia) celebraron el Día de los Caídos en el CFVMPF Memorial que rinde homenaje a los caídos del Ejército de los Estados Unidos, la Infantería de Marina, la Armada, la Fuerza Aérea y la Guardia Costera. Se añadieron seis nombres a sus paredes - uno de la Segunda Guerra Mundial; cuatro de la Operación Libertad Duradera; y uno de la Operación Libertad Iraquí. Estos fueron: Joseph L. Schiro, EE.UU. Veterans Day celebration Orlando, FL - Last Monday, May 30, the Central Florida Veterans Memorial Park Foundation (CFVMPF) celebrated its Memorial Day Ceremony at Orlando VA Medical Center at Lake Nona. The CFVMPF Board of Directors and veterans from all over Central Florida (Brevard, Lake, Orange, Osceola, Seminole & Volusia) celebrated Memorial Day at the CFVMPF Memorial that honors the Fallen from the United States Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard. They added six names to their walls - one from WWII; four from Operation Enduring Freedom; and one from Operation Iraqi Freedom. They include: Joseph L. Schiro, USA (Orlando, Orange County); Joshua L. Wheeler, USA (Brevard County); Pablo A Ruiz III, USA, (Melbourne, Brevard County); John C. Bratton, USA (Kissimmee, Osceola County); Todd William Weaver, USA, (Melbourne, Brevard County); and Luis Melendez Sanchez, USAF, (Oviedo, Seminole County)
“The Central Florida Veterans Memorial Park Foundation (CFVMPF) also unveiled a new mobile app feature to enable visitors to the Memorial to learn more about the individuals on the walls,” said De Voorhees, CFVMPF President. “The ceremony highlighted those Gold Star families who have lost loved ones whose names are represented on the Memorial walls. With the unveiling of the six new names our living memorial will total to 1186 names dating back to World War I from the six counties the new VA Medical Center will serve (Brevard, Lake, Orange, Osceola, Seminole & Volusia).” The Veterans Memorial, it is located at 13800 Veterans Way, Lake Nona. Signs will be placed along access roads leading to the VA Medical Center at Lake Nona. Access is through the main gate at the VA Medical Center.

A steering committee with two Osceola members will oversee the flow of funds, officials said. The research conducted will be years ahead of others in the fields of nanoelectronic manufacturing and product development – a scientific discipline where lifechanging discoveries are fueling the explosive growth of products used every day, everywhere, and by everybody. The Design Center will help local companies such as Photon-X, the subject of the second approval on Monday. The company currently is conducting key aspects of nanotechnology research overseas. The combination of the design center and Project Nano’s location here will accelerate the commercialization of sensor and phonics technologies, thus spurring the growth and attraction of hightech companies and high-wage jobs in Osceola County. Scott Calls on President Obama to Immediately Fund Preparedness to Fund Zika Fight Hialeah, FL – On June 1st., Governor Rick Scott sent a letter to President Obama calling on his administration to immediately provide items to prepare for the possible spread of the Zika virus. The letter addresses the failure of Congress to take immediate action to approve funding by the start of Hurricane Season, June 1, and before Zika transitions to a mosquito-borne illness in the United States. Governor Rick Scott said, “The fact that Congress has not taken immediate action to protect our nation from Zika before hurricane season began and we have entered the heart of summer heat, heavy rainfall and a growing mosquito population, is profoundly disappointing. However, in order to best protect the 20 million people in Florida and our many visitors from the spread of Zika, I cannot waste
any time on disappointment. Florida needs action from the federal government now.” Governor Scott is asking President Obama to fulfill requests made by over 20 counties, cities and mosquito districts in Florida for mosquito prevention to combat the Zika virus, along with requests Governor Scott already detailed to Health and Human Services Secretary Sylvia Burwell in May. The world-famous Brazilian footballer met his wax figure this week at a private unveiling at FC Barcelona’s training ground Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper in Spain. The new figure will travel to its permanent home, in Madame Tussauds Orlando in Orlando, Fl, this summer. Neymar da Silva Santos Junior was very involved with the creation of his figure and met with Madame Tussauds artists to have measurements taken in Barcelona. He chose the figure’s pose to reflect his goal celebration from the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, which he called “the most important moment of my career.” He scored four goals for Brazil until he was sidelined by an injury that forced him to miss the rest of the tournament. The figure is outfitted in a Brazilian national team kit donated by the soccer star himself.

St Cloud - Noticias / News Operación "Track Mark" St. Cloud, FL - En un esfuerzo por combatir la actividad ilegal de narcóticos dentro de los límites de la ciudad de St. Cloud, la División de Servicios de Investigación del Departamento de Policía de St. Cloud, en conjunto con las unidades especializadas de la Administración de Control de Drogas (DEA, por sus siglas en inglés), terminó una investigación de tres (3) meses dirigida a la venta y entrega de heroína por toda la ciudad. En las primeras horas de la mañana, del 25 de mayo de 2016, la operación de órdenes de arresto "Track Mark", fue ejecutada. Un total de seis (6) órdenes de registro fueron realizadas dentro de los límites de la ciudad de St. Cloud y más de cincuenta (50) órdenes de arresto fueron emitidas. Como
consecuencia de la redada; 29 gramos de heroína, 202 gramos de cocaína, 14 gramos de metanfetamina, 2 gramos de metadona, y 3 armas de fuego fueron incautadas, lo que resultó en dieciocho (18) arrestos por delitos graves. Hay un total de nueve sospechosos (9) por delitos graves que siguen en libertad. Hasta el momento, dieciocho (18) detenidos han sido trasladados a la Cárcel del Condado Osceola. Además, órdenes de arresto por delitos graves fueron emitidas para personas que siguen en libertad. Operation “Track Mark” St. Cloud, FL- In an effort to combat illegal narcotic activity within the city limits of St. Cloud, the St. Cloud Police Department's Investigative Services Division in conjunction with specialty units from the U.S. Department of Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), ended a three (3) months investigation targeting the sale and delivery of heroin throughout the city. In the early morning hours, of May 25th, 2016, a warrant roundup sweep: Operation - “Track Mark”, was executed. A total of six (6) search warrants were served within the city limits of St. Cloud and over fifty (50) felony warrants
were issued. Subsequent to the round up; 29 grams of heroin, 202 grams of cocaine, 14 grams of meth, 2 grams of methadone, and 3 firearms were seized, resulting in eighteen (18) felony arrests. There are a total of nine (9) felony suspects still at large. Thus far, eighteen (18) arrestees have been transported to the Osceola County Jail. Additionally, felony warrants were issued for individuals who are still at large. Orlando City vuelve a empatar Orlando, FL - Orlando City viajó a la ciudad de Nueva York para enfrentarse al NYCFC. A la manera típica de Orlando, este partido se redujo a los últimos segundos. El dramático final que resultó en un empate 2-2 parece ser lo más consistente que Orlando hace a su favor: una manera de mantener a los fanáticos colgados de sus asientos hasta los momentos finales y hacerles sentir esperanza de nuevo.

The dramatic finish that resulted in a 2-2 draw seems to be the most consistent thing Orlando has going for them: a way to keep fans hanging on till the final moments and make them feel hope again. Orlando City has come back from losing so many times this year that those who watch week after week get lost in the excitement of pulling off a draw when they had been down a few goals the majority of the match. Supporters have watched Orlando make silly mistakes that cost goals, make aggressive fouls that result in cards, and get out played for the majority of this season. But the joy and belief that comes rushing over someone who watches their team play mediocre at best, to then draw or almost win a match is a feeling like no other. Suddenly you forget their erroneous ways and want to cheer and support and love. It’s time to face reality.
Orlando City has many more matches to play and win a spot in the playoffs. But too little too late is the theme of another professional franchise in this city. We don’t need two with that mantra. Kevin Molino has been getting more comfortable on the pitch. Molino was the leading scorer for Orlando when they played in the USL League. We missed Molino last year while he recovered from an injury. He’s back. And showing what a fantastic scorer he is. In the final seconds of the match against NYCFC, Molino got his head on across from Cyle Larin to score Orlando’s second goal and secure a point on the road. Molino also played a role in Orlando’s first goal of the match when he found Julio Baptiste who was able to fire a shot into the net. Orlando has some time off before their next match. Orlando will host the San Jose Quakes at Camping World Stadium on June 18th.
