Phillips Hospital abrirá una expansión de $20 millones al público Orlando, FL - El Hospital Dr. Phillips de Orlando Health recientemente dio a conocer su nueva expansión de $20 millones en el quinto piso del hospital, que fue diseñado para proporcionar espacio adicional para facilitar la creciente comunidad y mejorar la calidad de la atención para pacientes quirúrgicos. El nuevo espacio, que antes de la construcción era un espacio creado después de un proyecto de renovación en 2008, incluye un cómodo salón familiar y 48 habitaciones privadas de última generación que cuentan con espectaculares vistas al lago y a International Drive. Además, el piso cuenta con un aula de Joint Camp para educar a los pacientes y sus seres queridos antes y después de la cirugía, y un gimnasio de rehabilitación separado para apoyar la recuperación.

Phillips Hospital recently unveiled its new $20 million expansion on the hospital’s fifth floor, which was designed to provide additional space to facilitate the growing community and enhance the quality of care for surgical patients. The new space, which prior to the build out was a shell space created after a renovation project in 2008, includes a comfortable family lounge and 48 stateof-the-art private rooms that feature spectacular lakefront and International Drive views. Additionally, the floor boasts a Joint Camp classroom for educating patients and their loved ones before and after surgery, and a separate rehabilitation gym to support recovery. The expansion increases the total number of hospital beds from 237 to 285. It adds 42,000 square feet to the hospital and provides a modern space for all surgical patients. The ribbon-cutting ceremony for the fifth floor was held on Feb. 7 and attended by Orlando Health team members, business and community leaders. At the ceremony, Thibaut van Marcke, president of Orlando Health Dr. P. Phillips Hospital stated that the development builds on the hospital’s longstanding approach to delivering superior care and supporting the needs of the community. Located in southwest Orlando, Orlando Health Dr. P. Phillips Hospital has been serving the local community, as well as visitors from across the United States and around the world for over 25 years. Last year, the hospital had 15,575 acute care admissions which was an increase from 13,794 in 2016. The new floor will increase capacity by 20 percent and allow the hospital to expand in other service areas. The new floor will open to the public later this month.

Puerto Rico News Puerto Rico - La Cámara de Representantes de los EE.UU. aprueba legislación de socorro por terremoto Washington, D.C. - La Cámara de Representantes de los Estados Unidos aprobó la Ley de Asignaciones Suplementarias Adicionales para el Desastre, 2020 H.R.5687 que asignaría dólares de ayuda para desastres críticos para Puerto Rico. Este financiamiento federal se produce después de la serie de terremotos en curso en Puerto Rico que han continuado afectando a la isla desde el 28 de diciembre de 2019. Este proyecto de ley proporcionará más de $4.7 mil millones para necesidades educativas, transporte, reparaciones de infraestructura y medidas de alivio de desastres. Puerto Rico - U.S. House of Representatives passes earthquake disaster relief legislation Washington, D.C. - The U.S. House of Representatives approved the Additional Supplemental Appropriations for Disaster Relief Act, 2020 H.R. 5687 that would allocate critical disaster relief dollars for Puerto Rico. This federal funding comes in the aftermath of Puerto Rico’s series of ongoing earthquakes that have continued to affect the island since December 28, 2019. This bill would provide over $4.7 billion for educational needs, transportation, infrastructure repairs, and disaster relief measures. It also includes critically important provisions that would allow Puerto Rico to comingle funds provided in this legislation with previous emergency supplemental in dollars. Additionally, the supplemental includes an increase for Puerto Rico’s Nutritional

Assistance Program (NAP) that provides the necessary funding to ensure that families on the island have access to much needed nutritional assistance. “We thank Members of Congress for their swift action to ensure that thousands of U.S. citizens residing on the island can have access to muchneeded resources so that they can continue to make a full recovery,” said Jennifer M. Arecibo Observatory discovers moon orbiting near-Earth asteroid Orlando, FL - Scientists at the Arecibo Observatory in Puerto Rico have discovered a moon orbiting the near-Earth asteroid 2020 BX12. Orbiting moons have been detected in fewer than 15% of all near-Earth asteroids. Arecibo radar images released Feb. 10 indicate that the moon is about 230 feet wide, compared to the asteroid it orbits, which is about 540 feet wide. The asteroid was discovered earlier this month by the NASA-funded ATLAS survey being conducted from the Mauna Loa Observatory in Hawaii. The object is defined as a potentially hazardous asteroid because of its size and proximity to Earth, although it poses no danger at this time and is currently moving away from Earth. In January 2020, the Arecibo Observatory, which is funded by the National Science Foundation and which UCF manages under a collective agreement, suspended telescope operations as a result of a series of earthquakes striking the southern part of the island. Shortly after resuming operations this month, the world’s most powerful planetary radar made the discovery of the moon orbiting 2020 BX12. Luisa Fernanda Zambrano-Marin, a science operations associate at Arecibo and graduate student from the University of Granada in Spain, says she was excited about the team coming together to continue observations despite the on-going caution about big earthquakes. She was running the observation of the asteroid where the images were taken on Feb.4-5 and worked with the team to derive the estimates for the properties of the asteroids.

“We are more than glad to be able to resume observations, especially when we get to observe asteroids as interesting as 2020 BX12”, says Anne Virkki, the head of the planetary radar group at the Arecibo Observatory. For more about the moon go to www. naic.edu/~pradar/ In addition to the discovery of the moon, the radar data revealed that the asteroid is likely round, possibly similar in shape to the asteroid 101955 Bennu. NASA’s OSIRIS-REx spacecraft is visiting Bennu right now for a first-ofits-kind American mission to collect samples and return them to earth. From the changes in position of the moon during the radar observations, the scientists were able to determine that while the larger asteroid rotates about once every 2.8 hours, the moon likely rotates at the same speed as it orbits the bigger asteroid – approximately every 50 hours or less. The Earth’s moon is similarly “tidally locked,” meaning it completes one rotation and one orbit over the same amount of time (one month). The team of scientists, engineers, and telescope operators from the Arecibo Observatory responsible for the observations include: Virkki, ZambranoMarin, Sean Marshall, Dylan Hickson, Anna McGilvray, Johbany Lebron, Israel Cabrera, Yoliett Velez, Juan Marrero, and Adrian Bague. UCF manages the NSF facility under a cooperative agreement with Universidad Ana G. Méndez and Yang Enterprises, Inc. Definitely! It is normal to always feel fear of the unknown and especially the decisions that depend on you and affect your future and the future of a group of people.

Es normal siempre sentir temor a lo desconocido y sobre todo a las decisiones que dependen de ti y afectan tu futuro y el futuro de un grupo de personas. Todos los días nacen grandes ideas, pero también mueren muchas, el éxito de que crezcan o mueran no dependen de lo novedosas que sean o del capital financiero que tengas, dependen más de la organización de tus ideas y del plan de implementación para desarrollarlas. A changed Champions League is back After over two months, we’ll finally have the best football in the world back. But, since the draw was made until today, the main candidates have undergone several changes.

Vuelve la Champions… y mucho ha cambiado Después de más de dos meses, por fin tendremos de regreso al mejor futbol del mundo. La cuestión, es que desde que se hizo el sorteo a esta fecha, los principales candidatos han pasado por muchos cambios. Ninguno más grande que el del Barcelona. Le dieron las gracias a Ernesto Valverde, tras caer con el Atlético en la super copa. El momento fue extraño, pero su salida se pedía a gritos. Llegó Quique Setién, y no han cambiado mucho. Muchos pases, mucha posesión, pero poca efectividad. Y si a eso le sumamos que Suárez y Dembelé estarán fue el resto de la temporada, y que no firmaron a nadie en el mercado de invierno, el Barça necesitará más que nunca de Messi, Griezmann, Vidal y Ter Stegen. Su rival, el Napoli, también cambió de entrenador, en un claro paso hacia atrás: del multicampeón Ancelotti al inexperimentado Gattuso. El Real Madrid, en cambio, está más optimista que en diciembre. Ya son líderes de La Liga, Courtois está teniendo un gran año, es el equipo menos goleado de Europa, poco a poco aparecen Jovic, Isco o Kroos, y Benzemá es el mejor del equipo.
