Orlando City inaugurates new training facility in Kissimmee Kissimmee, Florida - In a landmark moment of Club investment, Orlando City SC cut the ribbon at the Orlando City SC Training Ground on Friday morning. Housed in Kissimmee, the new facility will serve as the permanent and exclusive home for Orlando City SC of Major League Soccer (MLS), Orlando City B of the United Soccer League (USL League One), and the Orlando City Development Academy - putting the entirety of the Club’s development pyramid under one roof for the first time in its history. “Our soccer IQ keeps growing in Central Florida, is great to see Orlando City here in Osceola County, it has been said for a long time "Vamos Orlando" and now it's time to add "Vamos Osceola"” mentioned Osceola County Commissioner, Viviana Janer, during the ribbon cutting ceremony. "This is a very special day for our Club. The opening of our own, state-of-the-art training facility is a monumental step towards our long-term vision for the organization and has been something we have been looking forward to since day one," said Orlando City CEO Alex Leitão. "After opening our first-rate soccer stadium downtown in 2017, we have continued to work toward our commitment to put Orlando City over
the top when it comes to recruiting top talent and supporting player development. With the opening of this new facility, we are very excited about the impacts it will have, both on and off the field, for our entire development pyramid across the First Team, Orlando City B and our Development Academy." The 20-acre training complex features four fields - three natural grass and one artificial turf - with each natural grass field comprised of Latitude 36 Bermudagrass, the same playing surface found at Exploria Stadium. In addition, the facility will house a fitness, training and recovery center, a players’ lounge and a meal room. In addition, the Orlando City Training Ground will feature the first Audi Performance Center as part of an MLS-wide initiative to further elevate the game of soccer in North America. Also located on the grounds of the facility is Osceola County Stadium, a 5,400-seat venue set to become the new home of Orlando City B. The former baseball park will undergo a full redevelopment to become a soccer-specific field, set to host OCB matches and other events. The First Team will begin its preseason training at the Orlando City Training Ground on Monday, January 20.

City of Kissimmee - Gateway Airport Aeropuerto Kissimmee Gateway experimenta aumento en el tráfico aéreo Kissimmee, FL - La Torre de Control de Tráfico Aéreo (ATCT por sus siglas en inglés) del Aeropuerto Kissimmee Gateway (ISM) reportó un aumento en el tráfico aéreo en el 2019 en comparación con el 2018. “ATCT manejó 134,375 operaciones terrestres (aeronaves que despegan y aterrizan en ISM), hasta un 24 por ciento sobre el 2018. También, ATCT manejó 156,927 operaciones en total (una combinación de operaciones terrestres con aviones volando por el espacio aéreo local comunicándose con ATCT), hasta un 10 por ciento sobre el 2018”, dijo el director de aviación del Aeropuerto Kissimmee Gateway, Shaun Germolus. Esta tendencia continua, se ha visto durante los pasados cuatro años en el Aeropuerto Kissimmee Gateway, con un promedio de 13 por ciento cada año sobre el año anterior. Kissimmee Gateway Airport experiences increase in air traffic Kissimmee, FL - The Kissimmee Gateway Airport (ISM) Air Control Tower (ATCT) reported an increase in air traffic in 2019 in comparison to 2018.

Orange Noticias / News Geovenie Hernández, oficial de Correccionales del Condado Orange es honrado Condado Orange, FL - La Asociación de Sheriffs de Florida (FSA por sus siglas en inglés) se complace en anunciar que Geovanie Hernández, Oficial Principal de Correcciones del Condado Orange, ha sido seleccionado como Oficial de Correcciones 2020 del Año. Cada año, el premio se entrega en la Conferencia de Invierno de la FSA a un oficial que ha demostrado un servicio excepcional. Este premio está patrocinado por United Badges Insurance Services. El oficial Hernández es aplaudido por su heroísmo al salvar vidas. Orange County Master Corrections officer honored Orange County, FL - The Florida Sheriffs Association (FSA) is pleased to announce that Orange County Master Corrections Officer Geovanie Hernandez has been selected as the 2020 Corrections Officer of the Year. Each year, the award is presented at the FSA Winter Conference to an officer who has demonstrated exceptional service. This award is sponsored by United Badges Insurance Services. Officer Hernandez is applauded for his life-saving heroism. This award is no surprise to Officer Hernandez’s colleagues as he is well known for putting the needs of others before his own. On June 2, 2019, Officer Hernandez’s own apartment building erupted in flames. At the first sign of fire, Officer Hernandez rescued his 4-year-old son from the building, and then returned to the burning building to save the lives of the other residents. Once learning that a man with existing medical issues was trapped inside, Officer Hernandez sprung back into action. He entered the apartment where the fire was located. Unable to see clearly due to the amount of smoke and flames, Officer Hernandez located the trapped gentleman and was able to relocate him to a safe area. While rescuing the victim, Officer Hernandez noticed a fire extinguisher, so once again,
Hernandez returned to the building to extinguish the fire to control any further exposure. Less than a week later, during a firearms qualification activity, a student incurred a serious injury due to an accidental discharge with his firearm causing serious injury. Officer Hernandez and the Orange County Corrections Department range staff were on the scene to render aid. Treating the injury was not enough for Officer Hernandez though. He also escorted the injured officer to the hospital and stood by his side until the family arrived. The Florida Sheriffs Association Corrections Officer of the Year Award is proudly sponsored by United Badges Insurance Services. Jiménez Potenza – El Osceola Star Washington, D.C. - El 21 de enero del 2020, la Oficina de Control de Activos Extranjeros (OFAC) del Departamento del Tesoro de los Estados Unidos identificó quince aeronaves como propiedad bloqueada de Petróleos de Venezuela, SA (PDVSA) de conformidad con la Orden Ejecutiva 13884, que bloquea la propiedad y los intereses en la propiedades del Gobierno de Venezuela. "We continue our proactive efforts to support a peaceful, democratic transition in Venezuela. Today the U.S. identified 15 PDVSA aircraft as blocked property. These sanctions are part of the strong campaign that the United States is using to put pressure on the Maduro regime in Venezuela. Osceola County, FL - From January 9 to January 12, 2020, the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children Unit conducted Operation Hindsight 2020. The operation was conducted in order to target online offenders who utilize internet and technology in order to participate in sexual activity with individuals whom they believe to be minors.
Over the course of the operation, 12 suspects were arrested. Charges varied from Traveling to Meet a Minor to Transmission of Harmful Materials. Several days after the operation, 3 more arrests were completed. Of the three arrests, one of the suspects traveled to a location in Orlando in which he was arrested by Orlando Police Detectives. The other two suspects were arrested here in Osceola County. In all, 15 suspects were arrested during Operation Hindsight 2020.
The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office is the lead agency for the Central Florida Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force which is made up of 60 local, state and federal agencies in Central Florida.
