City of Kissimmee News Ciudad de Kissimmee inaugura la última fase del Lakefront Park Por Marco A. Jiménez Potenza – El Osceola Star Kissimmee, FL - Después de 10 años en construcción, el proyecto de renovar y expandir el Kissimmee Lakefront Park finalmente culminó su cuarta y última fase. En la mañana del viernes, 20 de diciembre del 2019, la alcaldía de Kissimmee junto con la comunidad realizó una ceremonia de corte de cinta para estrenar esta nueva y renovada sección del Lakefront Park. Ahora miembros de la comunidad podrán explorar más espacios verdes y naturales dentro de su propia ciudad. "El objetivo de este proyecto fue centrarse en las áreas del Lakeshore Boulevard y el Brinson Park las cuales ahora tienen un espacio más grande entre la carretera y el lago, así como también mayores espacios verdes, bancos y aceras peatonales" – Mencionó el alcalde de Kissimmee

City of Kissimmee inaugurates the last phase of Lakefront Park By Marco A. Jiménez Potenza –The Osceola Star Kissimmee, FL - After 10 years under construction, the project to renovate and expand the Kissimmee Lakefront Park has finally completed its fourth and final phase. During the morning of Friday, December 20, 2019, the Mayor of Kissimmee together with the community held a ribbon cutting ceremony. "The objective of this project was to focus on the areas of Lakeshore Boulevard and Brinson Park which now have a larger space between the road and the lake, as well as larger green spaces, benches and pedestrian sidewalks" - Mayor of Kissimmee Jose Alvarez mentioned during the ceremony. Additionally, through this fourth phase, the
Lakeshore Boulevard now have a new brick road, which is illuminated with a set of new low-consumption LED lights, as well as an improved drainage system between the city and the lake. Now that phase IV of Lakefront Park has been completed, citizens and tourists visiting the city of Kissimmee will be able to take full advantage of this renewed section of the city, as well as make meetings, walks, bike rides and have a greater encounter with nature. Orlando, FL – El martes, 24 de diciembre el cónsul de México en Orlando Juan Sabines celebró la Navidad junto a la comunidad en las oficinas del Consulado de México.
Orlando, FL – On Tuesday, December 24, the Consul of Mexico in Orlando Juan Sabines celebrated Christmas with the community at the Consulate of Mexico.
Las sonrisas de decenas de niños iluminaron esta fiesta junto a familias mexicanas e hispanas. Se rompieron piñatas, se disfrutó de tamales y el tradicional ponche, se cantaron canciones propias de la época.
The smiles of dozens of children illuminated this party with Mexican and Hispanic families. Piñatas were broken, tamales were enjoyed with the traditional Christmas punch and songs.

Consul Juan Sabines welcomed the headquarters of the Consulate, home of Hispanics in North and Central Florida, and thanked the assistance of people who traveled up to 4 hours to enjoy this celebration, on Christmas Eve.

The jingling of bells and the impeccably adorable decorations at every corner of the County indicated the start to a great holiday season. As we celebrate with our families and friends, I wish you all a wonderful, healthy and happy new year. It was a wonderful and busy year, full of amazing residents that love to be pro-active and help our community. It has been an honor to involve our young people in our local community events and decisions for our future.

Educación / Education El campus Osceola de Valencia College abrirá nuevo edificio Careers in Industry & Technology en asociación con CareerSource Kissimmee, FL - Valencia College presentará la última incorporación a su campus de Osceola el 6 de enero de 2020, cuando el nuevo edificio de Carreras en la Industria y la Tecnología se abra para las clases. Valencia College's Osceola Campus to open new Careers in Industry & Technology Building in partnership with CareerSource Kissimmee, FL - Valencia College will unveil the newest addition to its Osceola Campus on Jan. 6, 2020, when the new Careers in Industry and Technology Building opens for classes. The 54,000-square-foot building will house several new workforce-oriented degree programs, including a new Associate in Science degree program in engineering technology, with specializations in advanced manufacturing and supply chain automation. The $18 million building will also house classes for the Osceola Campus’s degree programs in residential property management, along with hospitality and tourism management. The three Associate in Science degree programs will expand the portfolio of workforce degree programs available in Osceola County. “I am delighted that Valencia’s new Careers in Industry and Technology building will provide much-needed access to education and training for careers that are in high demand in our community,” said Kathleen Plinske, provost and executive vice president of Valencia College and president of the college’s Osceola, Lake Nona and Poinciana campuses. “This state-of-the-art facility will create opportunities for hands-on, experiential learning to prepare students directly for the workforce.” The CIT building will also serve as the new Osceola County location for CareerSource Central Florida. CareerSource Central Florida frequently partners with Valencia College to provide training for unemployed and underemployed workers. Several of Valencia’s short-term workforce training programs will start classes at the new location on Jan. 21, including Valencia’s mechatronics program, which is currently housed at Valencia’s Advanced Manufacturing Training Center in Kissimmee. Over the course of 22 weeks, mechatronics technicians learn electrical, technical and computer skills that enable graduates to troubleshoot mechanical systems in everything from assembly lines to computerized theme park rides. The CIT facility will also house Valencia’s short-term training program for apartment maintenance technicians, as well as a mock apartment to be used by students in the hospitality and residential property management programs. The CIT building was designed and built by HuntonBrady Architects and Clancy & Theys Construction Company.

Venezuela Aquí El Senado de Estados Unidos aprobó “el paquete legislativo más grande” de ayuda humanitaria para Venezuela Por Marco A. Jiménez Potenza – El Osceola Star Washington, D.C. — El 19 de diciembre del 2019, el senador y miembro del Comité de Relaciones Exteriores de la Cámara Alta, Bob Menéndez, informó mediante medios oficiales que el Senado estadounidense aprobó “el paquete legislativo más grande de apoyo humanitario a Venezuela”. La ley de ALIVIO DE EMERGENCIA PARA VENEZUELA, AYUDA A LA DEMOCRACIA Y DESARROLLO (VERDAD, por sus siglas en inglés) es el título que posee este paquete legislativo, el cual proporciona 400 millones de dólares en asistencia humanitaria para Venezuela y países de la región, así como también 17 millones en apoyo a sectores democráticos y la sociedad civil venezolana.
Luego de que la ley VERDAD fuera aprobada, el senador Menéndez indicó que esta acción "deja en claro que Estados Unidos se mantiene firme en su apoyo al pueblo venezolano y al presidente interino Juan Guaidó, y no desestimarán nuestros esfuerzos para responsabilizar al régimen de Maduro por las acciones de su dictadura criminal”. Adicionalmente, la Cámara de Representantes aprobó una serie de leyes “para abordar la participación de Rusia en Venezuela, prohibir la venta de armas al régimen de Maduro y fortalecer la entrega de ayuda humanitaria de Estados Unidos”, las cuales entrarán en la agenda legislativa a principios del 2020 para luego ser enviadas al senado para su futura aprobación.

Jiménez Potenza – El Osceola Star Washington, D.C. — On December 19, 2019, the Senator and member of the House of Foreign Relations Committee, Bob Menéndez, informed through official sources that the US Senate approved “the largest legislative package of humanitarian support to Venezuela”. The Venezuela Emergency Relief, Democracy Assistance, and Development Act (VERDAD) is the title of this legislative package, which provides $400 million in humanitarian assistance to Venezuela and other countries in the region, as well as 17 million in support of democratic sectors and Venezuelan civil society.
After the VERDAD Act was passed, Senator Menéndez said that this action “makes it clear that the United States stands firm in its support for the Venezuelan people and the interim president Juan Guaidó, and does not underestimate our efforts to hold the Maduro regime for the actions of his criminal dictatorship.” Additionally, the House of Representatives passed a series of laws “to address Russia's participation in Venezuela, prohibit the sale of weapons to the Maduro regime and strengthen the delivery of humanitarian assistance from the United States,” which will enter the legislative agenda on early 2020 to then be sent to the Senate for future approval.

Se fue con la cara en alto rumbo a Monterrey. Ahí estuvo tan cerca de cumplir la promesa a su hijo, pero perdió las finales de 2016 y 2017 ante Pachuca y Tigres. Daddy Yankee’s 12 sold-out run Miami, FL - Global music icon and musical trendsetter, Daddy Yankee closed out his “Con Calma Pa’l Choli” concert series on Dec. 29th, in record breaking fashion. The one-of-a-kind concert series broke records by becoming the highest-grossing concert series ever held in Puerto Rico with 12 sold-out shows and more than 170,000 tickets sold in one month. Produced by Puerto Rican concert promoter Rafael Pina, “Con Calma Pal' Choli” initially sold-out 10 shows held on Dec. 5, 6, 7, 8, 12, 13, 14, 27, 28 and 29. Two additional matinee shows were added, which sold-out in a matter of hours and were held on Saturday, Dec. 14 and 28. This past Saturday’s matinee show was dedicated to Puerto Rico’s youth, and was made especially to inspire youth to pursue their dreams. As part of the special youth matinee show, Daddy Yankee surprised the first 1,000 kids that arrived at the venue with a special edition Sikiri Santa t-shirt. In addition, Daddy Yankee invited a group from the deaf community to experience their first-ever concert alongside an
interpreter, as well as hosted a special group of youth from multiple projects in Puerto Rico. To this day, Daddy Yankee has been the only artist to ever perform two shows on the same date and on multiple dates. For almost three hours, the artist known for the global hit and 2019’s most watched video on YouTube “Con Calma”, performed 34 songs which included multiple medleys celebrating a more than 15-year trayectory. The set list included some of his most iconic songs and Reggaeton classics including: "Rompe", "Machucando", "Gata Gangster", "Mayor que yo", "Latigazo" and “Segurosky". The genre pioneer also performed the global smash hits “Shaky Shaky”, “Gasolina”, “Despacito”, “Dura”, “Con Calma” and his latest worldwide #1 global smash “Que Tire Pa’ Lante”. In true Puerto Rican fashion, Daddy Yankee surprised fans by closing the show with Pleneros who joined the award-winning artist on stage to bid farewell to the eve’s audience.
