KUA Noticias / News Anuncian ganadores del calendario de KUA 2020 Kissimmee, FL - Kissimmee Utility Authority anunció a los ganadores de su 26to concurso anual de arte del calendario estudiantil.
St. Cloud Preparatory Academy - Savannah Dieux, 5to grado (ganador del gran premio); Lyla Robinson, 5to grado
Abierto para estudiantes del Condado Osceola desde el jardín infantil hasta sexto grado, el concurso está diseñado para promover la conservación de energía entre los estudiantes y sus familias.
Este año marca la segunda victoria tanto para Anissa Rose, que ganó en el 2018, como para Diego Gutiérrez, quien fue el ganador del gran premio del concurso en el 2019. Esta es también la segunda vez en la historia del concurso que dos hermanos han ganado en el mismo año, con Anissa y Ashton Rose.
Este año, se recibieron un total de 1,149 inscripciones de 26 escuelas primarias del Condado Osceola. Un panel de jueces se reunió la semana pasada y seleccionó 12 participaciones, una para cada mes del calendario, que se presentarán en el Calendario 2020 de Conservación de Energía de la empresa de servicios públicos. Los 12 estudiantes ganadores tendrán su obra de arte en el calendario del 2020 y recibirán un premio en efectivo de $150. El nombre y el diseño del ganador del gran premio aparecerán en la portada del calendario y se colocarán en un vehículo de la flota de KUA durante un año.

La escuela del ganador del gran premio, St. Cloud Preparatory Academy, recibirá $750 en materiales de arte, y la primaria Flora Ridge recibirá $500 en materiales de arte por presentar la mayor cantidad de inscripciones en el concurso. The 12 winning students will have their artwork featured in the 2020 calendar and receive a $150 cash prize. The grand prize winner’s name and artwork will be featured on the calendar cover and affixed to a KUA fleet vehicle for one year. The grand prize winner’s school, St. Cloud Preparatory Academy, will receive $750 in art supplies, and Flora Ridge Elementary will receive $500 in art supplies for submitting the most total entries in the contest. The calendars will be distributed free of charge, beginning in late December.

50 niños en la Florida Central fueron adoptados en el Día Nacional de la Adopción Osceola County, FL – Desde el viernes, 22 de noviembre, en las cortes de Orange, Osceola y Seminole, 50 niños en colocación familiar temporal en la Florida Central son oficialmente parte de una familia permanente en el Día Nacional de la Adopción. Mientras la adopción en general pasa durante todo el año, este día se formó para crear conciencia de los 125,000 niños en colocación familiar temporal, que siguen esperando formar parte de una familia permanente.
Embrace Families es la organización principal, sin fines de lucro, que supervisa el cuidado de crianza, la adopción y otros servicios de bienestar infantil en la región. Holiday shopping safety tips Osceola County, FL - With the holiday season soon approaching, the Osceola County Sheriff Office is encouraging residents to make yourself, your family, and neighborhood safer. Residents are urged to keep vehicles locked at all times, especially during shopping. Do not tempt a thief by leaving items like laptops, GPS devices, cell phones, money, purses and wallets, visible and in plain view. During the holiday season, the Sheriff Office urges residents to be proactive and report any suspicious activity by calling 9-1-1 and to do the following tips: Shop during daylight hours whenever possible. If you must shop at night, go with a friend or family member. Avoid wearing expensive jewelry. Always carry your Florida Driver License or Identification Card along with necessary cash, checks and/or a credit card you expect to use. Stay alert to your surroundings. Avoid carrying large amounts of cash. Pay with a check or credit card when possible. Notify the credit card issuer immediately if your credit card is lost, stolen or misused. Be extra careful if you do carry a wallet or purse. They are the prime targets of criminals in crowded shopping areas, bus stops, on buses and other rapid transit. Avoid overloading yourself with packages. It is important to have clear visibility and freedom of motion. Beware of strangers approaching you for any reason. At this time of year, “conartists” may try various methods of distracting you with the intention of taking your money or belongings.

Kissimmee, FL - Kissimmee Utility Authority has appointed Cindy Herrera as the utility's vice president of human resources, effective December 2. She brings more than 19 years of human resources experience to the position.

Actualmente esta fundación se encuentra en la ciudad de Orlando ayudando y recolectando los recursos necesarios para apoyar a jóvenes de todas las edades que estén padeciendo cualquier condición física y mental. The inspiration to create the pillars of this foundation is the legacy in life of Giovanni Gabriel Carrara Alvarenga, who was born on April 13, 2003 and with only 6 months he was diagnosed with cerebral hemiatrophy resulting in left hemiparesis, cognitive deficit, equine foot, and speech delay and even endure strong and painful therapies, Giovanni Jr with the great support of his parents, Dorien Alvarenga and Giovanni Carrara, managed to overcome these
challenges. Additionally, living in Venezuela, they experienced the growth of the health crisis as they saw the closures of medical institutions specializing in special education, as well as the difficult task of obtaining medicines due to the shortage of supplies. Now taking all these circumstances into consideration, Giovanni's parents decided to create this foundation to help other young people who today are suffering from these types of situations by donating medical and food supplies, which are collected annually on a Supply drive in the Central Florida area. Orlando, FL - On Sunday, November 24, the Christmas tradition of Orlando came to life with the installation of the Jack Kazanzas Star at a height of 50 feet from Orange Avenue.
La estrella dorada que adorna el centro de la avenida principal del downtown cuenta con más de 50 años de tradición y pesa 600 libras. The golden star that adorns the center of downtown's main avenue has more than 50 years of tradition and weighs 600 pounds. Its installation began in the 1950s when two department stores, Ivey to the east, and Dickson & Ives west of Orange Avenue, joined in 1955 to hang the Christmas star between the two buildings.

Orlando Magic and Habitat for Humanity provide local family keys to new home
Aaron Gordon, D.J. Augustin and Markelle Fultz – along with other volunteers from the Magic and Amway Corporation – helped set the table, literally and figuratively, for that to happen this year on Thanksgiving for many families in the area. They spent their Saturday afternoon, Nov. 16, at Orlando’s Northwest Neighborhood Center, where they helped pay for and distribute 475 Thanksgiving meals for underserved families in Central Florida. The meals included turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, green beans, dinner rolls and dessert. Magic forward Jonathan Isaac also contributed to the food that was purchased for the families.
The Orlando Magic joined Habitat for Humanity Greater Orlando & Osceola County on Tues., Nov. 19, for a key dedication ceremony presenting the Jenkins family with keys to their new home at Silver Pines Pointe. Magic visits Orlando Health to distribute Gamers Outreach GO Small forward Brandon “ToXsiK” Raudenbush recently visited Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children to distribute four Gamers Outreach GO Karts. The GO Karts are game kiosks built specifically for a medical environment with each unit allowing nurses and child life specialists to easily provide bedside recreation to children unable to leave their rooms in the hospital. Osceola County, FL - Osceola County, FL - On November 23, 2019, at approximately 12:31 p.m., the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Travelodge located at 2295 E. Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway, Kissimmee, Florida to a report of an Armed Robbery Home Invasion. Deputies were advised two suspects identified as Eddie Sanchez and Luis Rosario went to the victim’s motel room armed with firearms and demanded money from the victim.
Dos sospechosos identificados como Eddie Sánchez y Luis Rosario fueron a la habitación del motel de la víctima, estos estaban armados y exigieron dinero a la misma. The incident started over an argument earlier in the evening which later escalated into an armed robbery. Deputies were able to locate both Eddie Sanchez and Luis Rosario at their residence where a firearm and the victim’s property was recovered. Both Eddie Sanchez and Luis Rosario met with detectives, only Luis cooperated with the investigation. Eddie and Luis are currently incarcerated in the Osceola County jail for Armed Robbery Home Invasion with a Firearm, Aggravated Assault with deadly weapon without intent to kill, and Grand Theft on a zero bond.

Tough year for Florida in the NFL 2019 has been a difficult year for sports in Florida, especially for football. In College, only the Gators are in the top 25. And in the NFL, none of the three teams will enter the playoffs. There are still 6 weeks to go, but we can take that for granted. What happened to the Bucs, Dolphins and Jaguars this year? Let's check. Let's start with Tampa Bay, the only ones that aren't last in their division. There’s a ray of hope with the new coach, Bruce Arians, who has already been coach of the year twice in his career, as well as with Shaq Barrett, sack leader in the NFL. It’s worth noting the production of one of the best receiver duos in the league: Chris Goodwin and Mike Evans, both top 5 in yards and TDs.

Tienen a la 2da peor defensiva por puntos de la liga, y tienen al líder en intercepciones del 2019 (y de los últimos 5 años). Jameis Winston tendrá mucho talento, pero ya en su 5ta temporada queda claro que no es quien regrese a los Bucs a postemporada por 1era vez desde 2007. Sus 20 (¡) intercepciones son 6 más que el segundo lugar, y varias veces le ha costado el partido a su equipo. No tienen juego corredor, ni buena línea ofensiva, y fuera de Barrett la defensiva es un desastre. En una división complicada, el regreso a playoffs tendrá que esperar. Los Jaguars están en una división muy pareja, pero no muy buena. Parecían haber encontrado a su QB
del futuro con la llegada de Nick Foles, pero se lesionó media temporada, y a su regreso tampoco ha lucido bien. Gardner Minshew, su suplente, robó miradas por un breve tiempo, pero tampoco fue suficientemente bueno. La mejor defensiva de 2017 hoy se ha desinflado. Epcot Candlelight Processional Begins as a highlight of holiday festival Lake Buena Vista, FL - Joyous traditions from across the globe are at the heart of the Epcot International Festival of the Holidays. From Nov. 29, 2019, through Dec. 30, 2019, merry-makers will be immersed in a vast world of holiday decorations and entertainment, themed merchandise, festive cuisine and costumed storytellers in many of the 11 World Showcase nations. •Epcot’s grandest holiday tradition – the Candlelight Processional – features the retelling of the Christmas story by a celebrity narrator backed by a 50-piece orchestra and massed choir.
