No teníamos mucho.

Sen. Rick, Scott announces proposals to lower the cost of higher education Washington - Tuesday, September 10, 2019, Senator Rick Scott spoke at the Heritage Foundation on the future of higher education and his efforts to keep higher education affordable and make sure students are prepared to get good-paying jobs. During his speech, Senator Scott announced five proposals to lower the cost of higher education for our students.

When I went to college in the 70’s, tuition was as low as $200 a semester, with no fees that I can remember.

Today, the average cost of a private four-year college is more than $32,000 per year. The average cost of a public four-year college for out-

of-state students is almost $24,000 per year. The average cost of a public four-year college for in-state students is almost $10,000 per year. According to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the cost of college tuition and textbooks have risen by almost 200%, just in the last 20 years – almost 4-times the rate of inflation. The cost of a four-year degree has increased eight times, way more than the increase in wages. This is unsustainable and results in two drastically different but equally challenging problems: 1.First, a college education is becoming out of reach for more and more students. More and more students are losing out on their opportunity to live the American Dream. 2.Second, students who do go to a four-year college or university are becoming burdened with mountains of debt. Debt that is frankly unsustainable for people to pay off. Total student loan debt in the United States now stands at more than $1.5 trillion. The delinquency or default rate is over 11%. Here’s what I’m proposing: 1.First, if a student defaults on their federal loan, the institution where they took classes should be responsible for a portion of that default. 2.Second, we need to apply the same rules to Not-for-profit institutions as we do to for-profit institutions. 3.Third, if a college or university raises tuition or fees, they will be automatically cut off from ALL federal funding, including federallyguaranteed loan programs. That’s right, ALL FEDERAL FUNDING WILL BE CUT OFF IF TUITION OR FEES ARE INCREASED. 4.Fourth, Pell Grants should be eligible for use at technical colleges. 5.And finally, we must remove onerous Obama-era regulations that hinder private lenders from giving loans. These are just a handful of ideas that I’m proposing, but there are a lot of other great ideas out there.

Venezuela Aquí Orlando celebrated World Arepa Day By Marco A. Jiménez Potenza - El Osceola Star

Orlando, FL - Before the colonial era in the areas of Colombia and Venezuela, one of the typical foods and dishes that have characterized this region is no other than the arepa. There is documentation that the ethnic group of the Cumanagotos called it "erepa", the round cornbread, which was the fundamental food in the diet of the natives. However, during the last decade, the Venezuelan community abroad has been working to celebrate this element of their heritage and in this way it has been established that on the second Saturday of September the World Arepa Day will be celebrated. Records of this celebration dates back to July 2012 where the Organization Venezolanos en el Mundo (VenMundo)

decided to organize the first World Arepazo to support Venezuelans abroad and promote union and integration among Venezuelans around the globe, no matter where they were. A year later, in 2013 the hashtag # DíaMundialDeLaArepa was promoted and in turn the bases were established to celebrate this day on the second Saturday of September. While, in the city of Orlando, since 2014, the organization Casa De Venezuela Orlando has celebrated this day by exchanging arepas and awarding prizes to those who have made the best arepa. Celebrating that way their heritage and fulfilling the desire of sharing their culture and traditions with the community of Central Florida.

What does the reinstatement of Venezuela on the Rio treaty mean? Por Marco A. Jiménez Potenza Caracas, Venezuela - On September 2, 1947, in Brazil in the city of Rio de Janeiro, the Inter-American Reciprocal Assistance Treaty was signed with the objective of creating a defense mechanism for the OAS member countries in case of any external attack and also to mediate conflicts that may arise within the different member states. On Tuesday, September 10, 2019, the Venezuelan National Assembly unanimously approved the reinstatement of Venezuela to the TIAR, from which it had previously withdrawn in 2013. This vote took place at the initiative of the president of the National Assembly and opposition leader, Juan

Guaidó, who made this decision after serving during 6 months as the interim president of Venezuela. On the next day, on Wednesday, September 11, the Permanent Council of the Organization of American States took the first step to specifically activate the TIAR at the request of the National Assembly. Sheriff - Police / Noticias - News Por / By: Juan Pablo Sabines

The manager’s Champions League September is a strange month. On the one hand, everyone’s busy and tired after summer’s end. It rains a lot, there are hurricanes and earthquakes, everyone returns to class and work, and few are happy. But it’s also the month where our two favorite leagues in the world return: the NFL and the Champions League. And boy how much we’d missed them. Matchday 1 has passed and it leaves us with good sensations. Good and exciting matches, where the rule was that almost every candidate struggled to win, draw, or even lost. But this UCL I think will be defined in the benches. Especially this year, the managers are the ones who will fight to move their pieces as well as possible in order to become champions, just as Klopp and Poche did last year.

¿No me creen? Tomemos al Man.

Do not believe me? Take Man City, the odds favorite, for example. The 3 years of Guardiola they’ve been eliminated by inferior teams on paper, and allowing many goals. They were favorites against Monaco, Liverpool and Tottenham, and despite the ridiculous talent they have, they were taken out. That’s something Pep needs to adjust, who last year dominated the 4 titles in England, but saw how 4 other English clubs reached European finals. Something similar happens with Barça. They’d dominated the series against Rome and Liverpool, and we already know what happened. The concentration errors start from the bench, and Valverde has also dominated locally but has been humiliated in Europe. The good thing is that Messi apparently won’t have to do everything by himself this year, with Griezmann, Fati and Dembelé (if healthy) to accompany him. Zidane needs to return to that magic formula of three-time champion Madrid, but now without Cristiano. Simeone has too many new faces (Felix, HH, Trippier, etc.), and needs to permeate his style as soon as possible. Sarri arrives at a Juve that dominates Italy at pleasure but has fallen short in Europe. He’s got a much defined style, but it will take time to make it noticeable. He has a candidate team; they just need to take the last step. Klopp will remain the key to the favoritism of this Liverpool (and the best in the world, nowadays), but repeating in a 3rd final in a row would be a total feat for him. Bayern does not yet convinces me because they lost important people (Robben, Ribery) and didn’t bring adequate replacements (Coutinho is nothing in comparison), but above all because I never think I’ll say “Niko Kovac, manager of the UCL champions”. PSG started off on the right foot, more focused and playing as a team and not as several individuals. Tuchel is a great coach, he has a great team in every line, and if they can forgive Neymar soon, they will be candidates. Chelsea this year is very limited, starting with Frank Lampard on the bench, with almost no experience. Ajax is still playing well thanks to Erik Ten Hag. Anyway, now more than ever, the coaches will be the key to raising the Big Eared Trophy in 2020. But it’s great to have you back, Champions League!

Univision’s “Reina de la Canción”: Searching for the next female Latin superstar Univision presents “Reina de la Canción,” a female-only music development competition serving as a platform to identify, motivate and empower contestants to become a complete performer and the next Latina Music superstar. The show will headline Univision Network’s “Domingos en Familia” (family time) lineup beginning Sunday, September 22 at 8 p.m. ET/PT (7 p.m. CT). The show will be hosted by Univision’s TV personality Alejandra Espinoza and is executively produced by one of the most-listened-to Latin artists worldwide, Daddy Yankee. To find women with voices, talent, charisma, versatility, discipline or what he calls “the whole combo,” the urban music icon has formed a star-studded team, bringing together top stars from the music industry, which includes: a top-notch panel of judges comprised of Urban and Latin pop sensation Natti Natasha, regional Mexican star, singer-songwriter Joss Favela and iconic, timeless tropical music superstar, Olga Tañón; multiple GRAMMY® and Latin GRAMMY® winning producer Sergio George, “El Maestro,” will be the show’s musical director and producer; and the sensational singer-songwriter Pedro Capó will be the co-host and studio house director in charge of the development of the contestants. The first two episodes will cover the audition process where hundreds of women in Miami, Chicago, New York, San Antonio, Los Angeles and San Juan participated in castings. Only 40 of them were selected to audition in front of the judges, who picked the top 24 contestants to advance to the next stage, “the middle rounds.” These episodes are packed with unforgettable moments, lots of music, emotion, tension and above all, tons of competition. In addition, viewers will meet the 40 candidates, hear their stories and find out why they deserve to become the next Latin music superstar.
