Condado Osceola, FL - El pasado martes, 11 de junio, la Cámara de Comercio Puertorriqueña de la Florida Central (PRCCCF, por sus siglas en inglés) celebró una conferencia de prensa con el objetivo de dar a conocer sus nuevos proyectos para el Condado Osceola. PRCCCF reactivates Osceola Chapter Osceola County, FL - On Tuesday, June 11, the Puerto Rican Chamber of Commerce of Central Florida (PRCCCF) held a press conference aimed at publicizing its new projects for Osceola County. A large group of business owners, government representatives and media, accompanied their president, Mr. Amilcar Córdova, during the presentation of the new Osceola Chapter director, Lisse Dickson.
Among the events to be held are a series of training workshops dictated in Spanish and the creation of a group of referrals that will meet every Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at 109 Vermont Ave. It will be directed by Mrs. Deisamar De Soto. 2da operación “Best Foot Forward” en varios Condados Condado Osceola, FL - El 19 de junio de 2019, la Oficina del Sheriff del Condado Orange, junto con la policía de Orlando, Kissimmee y St. Cloud, llevaron a cabo la segunda operación de control de cruce en varios condados. El verano está aquí, los días son más largos y las personas están más activas a lo largo del día, hay vacaciones de verano y más niños están jugando, caminando y montando sus bicicletas en nuestras carreteras. Durante esta operación, oficiales vestidos de civil cruzaron la calle en 8 cruces marcados en todo el Condado Orange, Orlando y Kissimmee, dando a los conductores suficiente tiempo para ceder el paso. 2nd operation Best Foot Forward in several Counties Osceola County, FL – On June 19, 2019 the second multi-county crosswalk enforcement operation was conduct by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office along with police from Orlando, Kissimmee and St. Cloud. Summer is here, the days are longer, and people are more active throughout the day, school is out for the summer and more children are playing, walking and riding their bikes on our roads. During the operation, plainclothes deputies and officers crossed the street at 8 marked crosswalks throughout Orange County, Orlando and Kissimmee, giving drivers ample time to yield. Drivers who failed to yield were issued a warning or a citation of at least $164 and three points on their license. Best Foot Forward was launched in Orange County in 2012 to change the conversation about pedestrian safety and reduce the number of pedestrian
injuries and fatalities by getting more drivers to yield to people in marked crosswalks. To date, more than 4,715 warnings and 3,526 citations have been issued to drivers in Orange and Osceola counties at 418 crosswalk enforcements. So far this year, 35 pedestrians have died crossing the street in Orange and Osceola counties, according to state reports. That’s a trend Best Foot Forward and local law enforcement are working to reverse. Valencia College anuncia nuevas becas en el downtown campus Orlando, FL – Con un nuevo campus que abrirá sus puertas en el centro de Orlando en agosto, los funcionarios del Valencia College han presentado cuatro nuevas becas para estudiantes que asistan a clases allí. Para recibir las becas, los estudiantes deben inscribirse como estudiantes en busca de un título o estar trabajando para obtener un certificado en el Valencia College Downtown, el campus que Valencia compartirá con la Universidad de Florida Central. Valencia College announces new downtown campus scholarships Orlando, FL – With a new campus set to open in downtown Orlando in August, Valencia College officials have unveiled four new scholarships for students attending classes there. To receive the scholarships, students must enroll as degree-seeking students or be working toward a certificate at Valencia College Downtown, the campus that Valencia will share with the University of Central Florida. The scholarships will range from $200 to $600. The scholarships are designed for: • New Valencia College students who enroll for classes at the downtown campus; •Valencia students who are currently majoring in an A.S. degree program that is relocating to the downtown campus (digital media, health information technology, new media communication, culinary or hospitality) ;
• UnionWest Resident Scholarship, for students who will be living at the new downtown campus; and • Downtown Community Scholarship, for new students who live in zip codes 32801 or 32805. KUA obtiene altas puntuaciones en satisfacción al cliente Kissimmee, FL – Su excelente confiabilidad, empleados expertos y preocupación por la seguridad del cliente ayudó a Kissimmee Utility Authority a aumentar la satisfacción general del cliente en 2019, de acuerdo con los resultados de una encuesta publicada por la empresa.

When compared to GreatBlue’s database of national public power customers, KUA’s ratings were higher than ratings given by public power customers nationwide and in Florida. This was driven by increases in seven of eight characteristics, including strong increases in the areas of “being open and honest about company operations and policies” (+7.2 percentage points), “maintaining modern and reliable infrastructure” (+5.8 percentage points) and “responding promptly to customers questions and complaints” (+5.8 percentage points).
Across eight organizational characteristics measured in 2019, KUA received positive ratings from 88.5% of residential customers, which marks an increase over 84.2% in 2018. Sheriff - Police Noticias - News Oficial involucrado en tiroteo
Deputy involved shooting
Condado Osceola, FL– El 15 de junio de 2019, aproximadamente a la 1:00 a.m., los oficiales del Sheriff del Condado Osceola respondieron a la llamada de un vehículo abandonado ubicado cerca de la intersección de Poinciana Boulevard y Reeves Road en Poinciana. Al llegar, los oficiales encontraron un Dodge Ram negro 2016 estacionado en la Poinciana Boulevar (hacia el sur). El vehículo tenía las llaves aún en la ignición. Osceola County, FL - June 15, 2019, at approximately 1:00 a.m., deputies with the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office responded to an abandoned vehicle call located near the intersection of Poinciana Boulevard and Reeves Road in Poinciana. Upon arrival deputies found a black 2016 Dodge Ram parked on the shoulder of Poinciana Boulevard (facing southbound). The vehicle had the keys still in the ignition. Upon further investigation one deputy observed a white male hiding in the wooded area on the northbound side of Poinciana Boulevard. The deputy attempted to contact the male, later identified as Zachary Aaron Dollar (DOB: 10/06/77). Dollar hid behind a concrete telephone pole and then suddenly ran out of the wooded area in an aggressive manner towards the deputy. The deputy issued multiple commands for Dollar to stop; however, he continued to aggressively run at the deputy. As a result, the deputy shot Dollar in his abdomen one time.

Zachary Aaron Dollar Dollar then followed commands and deputies rendered aid. Dollar was transported to a local hospital for further care. Currently, Dollar’s injuries are not life threating. An opened folding knife was discovered in the immediate area where the deputy contacted Dollar. The Dodge Ram is registered to Dollar and this investigation is ongoing. The shooting is being investigated by The Florida Department of Law Enforcement. The deputy involved in this shooting will be placed on administrative leave with pay pending further investigation.

El Futuro de la NBA Apenas terminada otra gran campaña en la NBA, es hora de mirar hacia adelante. Vienen tiempos emocionantes para los fanáticos del basquetbol, tanto en el futuro cercano con una agencia libre repleta de estrellas, como en la siguiente temporada, donde no habrá un claro favorito al título. La dinastía ha caído. Los Warriors perdieron en 6 juegos frente a unos sorpresivos Raptors. Gran parte de la derrota de Golden State fueron las lesiones. Kevin Durant solo jugó 12 minutos en todas las Finales, y estará fuera el año que viene. Thompson salió en el juego 6, y no volverá hasta marzo. También Cousins, Iguodala y Looney estaban tocados. Sin restarle mérito a Toronto, no podemos dudar que hubiera sido otra historia si los bicampeones hubieran estado sanos. Pero todo mundo está dando por terminada esta increíble racha de 5 Finales seguidas de los Warriors. No digo que serán los mismos de hace un año o dos, pero descartarlos por completo sería un error. Thompson came out in game 6, and he won’t be back until March. Also, Cousins, Iguodala and Looney were hurt. Without detracting anything from Toronto, there’s no doubt that it would’ve been another story if the two-time champions had been healthy. But everyone is considering this incredible run of 5 Finals followed by the Warriors death. I’m not saying that they’ll be the same as a year or two ago but discarding them completely would be a mistake. These injuries can be a blessing in disguise, since, in this condition, Durant and Thompson will hardly leave in free agency. The good news is that the NBA is entering a beautiful period of parity. In a league that moves from one dynasty to another, there will appear to be 6, 7 or 8 candidates for the title the following year. Both Golden State (with Curry, Dray and Iggy) and Toronto (even without Kawhi),
have enough to return to the Finals. Milwaukee is going in the right direction. Houston (if Paul and Harden mend their fall out) has a golden opportunity. Boston have the best coach in doing more with less in Brad Stevens, and even losing Irving (would go to the Nets) and Horford (did not renew contract), they’ll be candidates.
