Poinciana Medical Center expande su sala de emergencias Poinciana, FL La sala de emergencias ampliada del Poinciana Medical Center ya está abierta. En respuesta a las crecientes necesidades de atención médica de los condados Osceola y Polk, el proyecto de $10.1 millones del hospital agregó 14,000 pies cuadrados y nueve camas a la sala de emergencias, aumentando la capacidad de 22 a 31. El proyecto

también incluyó la renovación del laboratorio del hospital, departamento de emergencias, sala de espera y entrada. Esta es la tercera expansión de la instalación desde su inauguración en el 2013. Poinciana Medical Center opens ER expansion Poinciana, FL - Poinciana Medical Center’s expanded emergency room is now open. In response to the growing healthcare needs of Osceola and Polk counties, the hospital’s $10.1 million project added 14,000 square feet and nine beds to the ER, increasing capacity from 22 beds to 31. The project also included

the renovation of the hospital’s lab, emergency department waiting room and entrance. This is the facility’s third expansion since its opening in 2013. Poinciana Medical Center will celebrate the completion of this latest expansion as part of its Six-Year Anniversary Community Celebration in July.

Congreso de EEUU aprobó Dream and Promise Act Washington, DC - El martes 4 de junio, la Cámara de Representantes aprobó el Dream and Promise Act, H.R. 6, que creará un proceso justo para que los “Soñadores” y las personas con Estatus de Protección Temporal puedan obtener la ciudadanía. El proyecto de ley fue aprobado de 237-187.

Según el plan, los inmigrantes que se benefician del estado de protección temporal o la salida de cumplimiento diferido podrían solicitar inmediatamente las tarjetas de residencia siempre que hayan estado en los EE. UU. desde 2016. Después de cinco años con una tarjeta de residencia, pueden solicitar la ciudadanía de los Estados Unidos.

U.S. Congress passed the Dream and Promise Act Washington, DC - On Tuesday June 4th, the House of Representatives passed the Dream and Promise Act, H.R. 6, which would create a fair process to earn citizenship for Dreamers and individuals with Temporary Protected Status. The bill passed 237-187.

Under the plan, immigrants benefiting from temporary protected status or Deferred Enforcement Departure could immediately apply for green cards as long as they have been in the US since 2016. After five years with a green card, they could then apply for US citizenship.

For the DACA recipients, who came to the US illegally while they were minors, the process would include first applying for conditional permanent residency.

The requirements for that entail entering the US before the age of 18 and having been stateside for the past four years, having no felony criminal record or a combination of three misdemeanors that resulted in more than 90 days of jail time,

and having a high-school diploma or GED. DACA recipients would also be afforded a pathway to citizenship through eventually applying for a green card or in other ways, including military service.

Guía de Preparación para Huracanes 2019 Kissimmee, FL - Kissimmee Utility Authority sacó su Guía de Huracán en Osceola 2019, una publicación gratuita de preparación integral que se ofrece anualmente a los residentes del Condado Osceola.

En una asociación entre KUA, el Condado Osceola, las ciudades de Kissimmee y St. Cloud, Toho Water Authority, la extensión UF IFAS en el Condado Osceola y Positively Osceola, el manual de 40 páginas incluye información sobre refugios de emergencia, rutas de evacuación, seguridad de generadores y cortes de energía, restauración, así como números de teléfono útiles, una lista de verificación de suministros para desastres y una tabla de seguimiento de ciclones tropicales.

2019 Hurricane Preparedness Guide Kissimmee, FL - Kissimmee Utility Authority today released its 2019 Osceola Hurricane Handbook, a free comprehensive preparedness guide offered annually to Osceola County residents.

Condado Osceola, FL - Esta semana, se enviaron postales a los residentes del Condado Osceola no incorporado para orientarlos en el proceso de selección de sus nuevos contenedores de desechos y reciclaje de tres tamaños diferentes: 96 galones, 65 galones y 35 galones.

Osceola County, FL - This week, postcards went out to residents of unincorporated Osceola County to guide them through the process of selecting their new waste and recycle carts from three different sizes: 96 gallons, 65 gallons and 35 gallons. Each postcard contains a link to a website containing information about the new curbside pickup program, which will begin October 1. Residents may also make their selection by return mail.

In unincorporated areas of the county yard waste is collected every Wednesday. The maximum container size will remain 45 gallons. Yard waste includes grass clippings, tree branches, palm fronds, etc. Yard trash can be handled with up to 10 individual bags, bundles and individual items.

Officials suggest placing leaves, pine needles and yard clippings in bags/bundles/containers.

Branches should be cut to fourfoot lengths, no wider than four-

inches in diameter and not over 50 pounds.

Uncollected trash – from litter to yard waste – can end up in the storm-water system. This is very detrimental to our environment, and not an efficient operation of these systems. To do your part, remember to: •Keep leaves and other organic matter out of the street. When mowing the grass, avoid blowing grass clippings into the street or roadside gutters, where they wash into stormwater systems.

•Do not leave wrapped newspapers on the driveway or lawn.

•Secure trash lid so they cannot be blown into the street.

Medios de comunicación invitados a recorrer UCF Downtown Orlando, FL - El miércoles, 5 de junio, los medios de comunicación fueron invitados a una gira por UCF Downtown, en asociación con Valencia College que traerá a 7,700 estudiantes a vivir, aprender y trabajar en el centro de Orlando, creando un campus que cambiará significativamente el corazón de la ciudad cuando las clases comiencen el lunes, 26 de agosto.

Luego de una presentación general, se realizaron recorridos por el Dr. Phillips Academic Commons, el edificio de las aulas de clase, construido con un aprendizaje innovador en mente, y UnionWest en Creative Village, la torre de vivienda y servicios para estudiantes.

El Dr. Phillips Academic Commons cuenta con cuatro pisos de espacios de aprendizaje activo, que incluyen aulas, la biblioteca del centro de la ciudad, espacios de estudio y tutoría, una corte simulada y oficinas académicas. El edificio será una instalación de aprendizaje de vanguardia que domina el parque central de Creative

Village, un espacio verde para conciertos y eventos al aire libre. Orlando, FL - On Wednesday, June 5th, the media was invited to a hard hat tour of UCF Downtown, the partnership with Valencia College that will bring 7,700 students to live, learn and work in downtown Orlando, creating a game-changing campus in the heart of the city when classes start Monday, Aug. 26.

An overview presentation was followed by tours of Dr. Phillips Academic Commons, the classroom building constructed with innovative learning in mind, and UnionWest at Creative Village, the student housing and services tower.

Dr. Phillips Academic Commons features four stories of active learning spaces, including classrooms, the downtown library, study and tutor spaces, a moot court, and academic offices. The building will be a state-of-the-art learning facility that overlooks Creative Village’s central park, a green space for outdoor concerts

and events. Construction began in downtown Orlando in summer 2017, with housing, parking and dedicated transportation to and from UCF’s main campus.

UnionWest is UCF’s new student resident community at UCF Downtown and Valencia College Downtown at Creative Village.

UnionWest is a 15-story building with restaurants on the ground floor, student services, classrooms and amenities conveniently located on floors 1–5, and student residences on floors 6–15. UnionWest is under construction and will open in August 2019, along with UCF Downtown and Valencia College Downtown.

Kissimmee, FL - The City of Kissimmee Public Works & Engineering Department announces road work to start on Tuesday, June 4, 2019, on Neptune Road between Westchester Drive on the east and Lawrence Silas Boulevard on the west as part of the Lakefront Park Redevelopment Project.

The Kissimmee Civic Center is open Monday through Friday from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. for anyone who wants to make a payment or has any questions related to rentals. However; the Civic Center will be closed on Tuesday, June 18 for a private event.

Arresto por Agresión Sexual Condado Osceola. FL - En abril del 2019, los detectives de la Oficina del Sheriff del Condado Osceola realizaron una investigación de agresión sexual. A través de su extensa investigación y con la ayuda de la víctima se obtuvo la causa probable para el arresto de Rubén Morales Jr. (27/11/56).

Morales fue acusado con 36 cargos de Asalto Sexual a un niño menor de 12 años y 60 cargos de Asalto Sexual a un niño mayor de 12 años. Morales fue profesor de artes marciales en el área del Lake Nona durante años. La Oficina del Sheriff del Condado Osceola continúa esta investigación y está solicitando a cualquier persona con información adicional sobre Morales que se ponga en contacto con su División de Investigaciones Criminales al (407) 348-1150.

Sexual Battery arrest Osceola County, FL - In April, 2019, detectives with the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office conducted a sexual battery investigation. Through their extensive investigation and with the help of the tenacious victim probable cause was obtained to arrest Ruben Morales Jr. (11/27/56). Morales was charges with 36 counts of Sexual Battery on a Child under 12 year and 60 counts of Sexual Battery on a Child older than 12 years. Morales was a martial arts teacher in the Lake Nona area for years. The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office is continuing this investigation and is requesting anyone with additional information on Morales to please contact their Criminal Investigations Division at (407) 348-1150.

Fraud / Extortion Alert Osceola County, FL - Detectives with the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office have been receiving complaints regarding suspicious phone calls. The victims appear to have been selected from our sexual offender registration. The suspect (caller) identifies themselves as an administrator of the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office. They have identified themselves as Captain Jeff Curtis and Major Kevin McGinley. The suspect tells our victims that they have been sent an address verification form from USDOJ ordering them to appear in court on May 28, 2019 in order to take DNA from them.

The suspect further informs that this information is being collected

for President Trump’s Federal Registry. The suspect tells the victim that he/she has a warrant for failure to appear, on the requested date, and must settle the warrant by taking advantage of the “Smart Program.” The suspect request money be sent directly to an account in order to settle the dispute.

The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office does not have a program such as this and encourages anyone that receives a call from someone collecting money for criminal clemency or simply to verify the identity of a caller claiming to be an agency member to contact the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office at (407) 348-2222.

Team USA, Brasil y Nigeria para la Copa Mundial Femenil que comienza este viernes 7 de Junio

Lo que nos depara junio La temporada 2018-19 de clubes ha concluido oficialmente con el Liverpool levantando su 6ta orejona.

Comienza el verano y con él, la temporada de incontables rumores, bombas y contrataciones. Pero también es época del futbol de selecciones, en el 1er verano desde el Mundial Rusia 2018. Veamos todos los acontecimientos importantes en el mundo del futbol que nos depara este mes.

Liga de Naciones UEFA La primera edición en su estilo está llegando a una exitosa conclusión.

Esta semana habrán jugado las semifinales tanto Portugal ante Suiza, como Inglaterra versus Holanda. El domingo 9 se definirá, en el Estadio Do Dragao en Oporto, Portugal, al campeón de la 1era Liga de las Naciones, torneo que sirve para dar más interés e importancia a las fechas FIFA, dar boletos extra-rumbo a la Euro 2020 (que también se juegan sus eliminatorias este verano), y para dar un trofeo extra.

Copa del Mundo Femenil Francia 2019 Como cada cuatro años, la Copa del Mundo de futbol para mujeres será jugada este verano, esta vez en suelo francés. Las seleccionadas estadounidenses, campeonas reinantes y lideradas por Alex Morgan (del Orlando Pride) y Carli Lloyd, están entre las favoritas. The summer begins and with it, the season of countless rumors, “bombs” and signings. But it’s also time for international football, on the first summer since the 2018 World Cup. UEFA League of Nations The first edition of its kind is coming to a successful conclusion. This week the semifinals are played: Portugal against Switzerland, and England v Holland. On Sunday 9th, at the Do Dragao Stadium in Porto, Portugal, the champion of the 1st League of Nations will be defined, a tournament that serves to give more interest and importance to FIFA breaks, provide extra tickets towards Euro 2020 (which also has their qualifiers played out this summer), and to give an extra trophy.

As every four years, the Women's Soccer World Cup will be played this summer, this time on French soil. The Americans, reigning champions and led by Alex Morgan (Orlando Pride’s own) and Carli Lloyd, are among the favorites.

USA has reached at least 3rd place in each of the 7 editions, including 3 world championships, the last one in 2015 in Canada. It will be disputed by 24 teams, from June 7 to July 7. The favorites, in addition to Team USA, are Germany (twice world champions), France, Brazil

(led by Marta, also from Orlando Pride), England (managed by Phil Neville), and Holland. The only Hispanic representatives are Spain, Argentina and Chile.

U-20 World Cup Poland 2019 The World Cup began in May, but it’s already in its Quarter Finals stage. Mexico finished last of their group, but the United States (against Ecuador) and Colombia (versus Ukraine) are still alive. The final will be on June 15, in Lodz.

Copa America Brazil 2019 Unlike the World Cup, the Copa America feels good for Brazil when it’s in home soil. Despite the failure in Russia 2018, the verdeamarelha is highly favored to win its 9th Copa America. Whenever it’s on Brazilian ground, the locals have won it. But we can’t rule out the desperate Argentina of Messi, the veteran Uruguay, the two-time champions Chile, or the Colombia of James and Falcao. It will be between June 14 and July 7.

Gold Cup USA 2019 Such as every two years, the Gold Cup will be played on American soil to define the CONCACAF champion. But this time, it will have two peculiarities: for the first time it will be played between 16 teams, with some surprises like Martinique, Curaçao or Bermuda making it here. The other one, the fact that it won’t give a ticket to the Confederations Cup, taking away its greatest attraction. It will begin on June 15 and the Final will be on July 7, in Chicago.
