Osceola County tax increase Osceola County, FL - El On May 21, 2019, Osceola County residents will be given the opportunity to vote on a one-cent surtax increase that is designed to improve transportation in Osceola County. During previous Osceola County elections, one question has been brought up time and time again, when is the infrastructure within the county going to improve? Over the years, this question has sparked much debate in the Osceola County Commission meetings. On February 18, 2019, the Osceola County Commissioners voted unanimously for ordinance #201919, this ordinance brought to question the commissioner’s resolution to fix the transportation issue. The onecent Osceola County transportation sales tax is set to help balance out the growing concern for transportation over the next 30 years. The tax will generate $67 million per year. Of the $67 million, 46-50% would be paid by nonresidents of Osceola County, averaging $10 a month per person, said Tawny Olore, Osceola County director of transportation. The cost of changing a two-lane road to a four-lane road is $20 million per one-mile and would cost up to $1.1 billion in total to change all major two-lane roads to four, said Olore. According to the US Census Bureau, Osceola County has experienced a population growth rate of 37% from April 1, 2010, to July 1, 2018. In the next 20 years, Osceola County could experience double the population. Forbes Magazine listed Osceola County the 4th fastest growing metropolitan area in the nation. county has had to deal with a budget backlog for roads, sidewalks, bike lanes, and public transportation. On May 6, 2019, a resolution was brought forward to the County Commissioners that proposed 75% of the surtax would be used on public roadways, sidewalks, bridges, bike lanes, and trails. While no more than 25% will be used for public transportation. They also presented the top 11 transportation roadway project. The resolution was approved. According to Smart Growth America, Orlando (Orlando, Kissimmee, and Sanford) are the most dangerous areas for pedestrians in the country. Many residents have blamed the new development of apartment complexes and new homedevelopments for causing major traffic issues. There have been a growing number of local business owners and public officials who have questioned the proposed tax increase. The county already has some of the highest mobility fees in Central Florida and the highest combined impact fees in the State. Charging developers more could result in an increased cost for affordable housing. On top of mobility fees, developer’s pay impact fees for fire, parks, and schools. On average, the mobility and impact fees total $22,000 per residential unit, developers are already paying double the transportation mobility fees since 2018, said Olore. On Saturday, May 4, 2019, a tip came in to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office concerning a possible sighting of the pictured suspect to include a vehicle description and license plate number. That information became instrumental, as it assisted in locating the suspect. Members of the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office East Property Crimes Unit immediately acted on the tip and within hours, Eduardo Flores DOB 9/27/99, was arrested and charged with two counts of Burglary and two counts of Petit Theft. The stolen property was also located and given back to its rightful owners. A big kudos to the Remington Subdivision for coming together and helping to keep their community safe. Best Champions League ever La Champions más bonita de la historia Puedo decir, con cierta confianza, que esta es la Champions más bonita que me ha tocado ver en mi aún corta vida. Y viene más allá de los fanatismos (mi equipo cayó en cuartos), sino de una profunda admiración por el futbol bonito, las remontadas, los goles de último minuto, y las hazañas. Y todavía nos queda el postre: la gran final inglesa desde Madrid, donde un equipo que tiene más remontadas legendarias que títulos de Premier League, el Liverpool, estará buscando su 6º Copa de Europa frente a alguien que apenas jugará su 1º final, el Tottenham. Pero permítanme enumerar algunas de las razones de mi argumento:

I can say, with a bit of confidence, that this is the most beautiful Champions League that I’ve seen in my still short life. And it goes beyond fanaticism (my team fell in the quarterfinals), but from a deep admiration for the beautiful game, the comebacks, last minute goals, and feats. And the dessert is yet to come: the English Final in Madrid, where a team that has more legendary comebacks than Premier League titles, Liverpool, will be looking for their 6th European Cup against a team debuting in their 1st final, Tottenham. But allow me to list some of the reasons for my argument: •For the unthinkable, improbable, and miraculous that were the tickets to the Final of both Reds and Spurs. Liverpool had a 6% chance. Tottenham, 4%. And yet, the “Johann Cruyff Final” was shredded in 24 hours.
