KUA - Noticias / News
miembros y NextEra Florida Renewables, LLC.
KUA signs City of Kissimmee as first subscriber for Community Solar Project Kissimmee, FL - In a landmark decision, the Kissimmee City Commission on Tuesday, February 5, 2019, approved a partnership with Kissimmee Utility Authority to power 100 percent of its facilities with solar energy, beginning in 2020. The partnership between the City of Kissimmee and KUA allows the City the opportunity to secure a fixed energy rate for the next 20 years, independent of the fluctuating costs associated with typical power generation. This agreement does not require the City to make any capital investments or long-term commitments. KUA joined the Florida Municipal Solar Project in 2018, a large-scale solar energy project that will enable KUA to provide renewable energy to its customers in the most costeffective way. The project is a joint effort between the Florida Municipal
Power Agency, 12 of its member municipal utilities and NextEra Florida Renewables, LLC. It will be one of the largest municipal solar projects in the United States and will include the construction of two solar farms within Osceola County. Understanding the importance of sustainability isn’t anything new for the City of Kissimmee. Over the past several years the City has installed electric vehicle charging stations, replaced inefficient athletic field lighting with LED fixtures, deployed hybrid-electric sanitation vehicles that rely less on fossil fuels, made structural modifications to improve the energy efficiency at facilities, and implemented various automated HVAC systems to lower energy consumption.
Don’t be victim to a ‘ghost’ tax return preparer Washington - The Internal Revenue Service warned taxpayers to avoid unethical tax return preparers, known as ghost preparers. By law, anyone who is paid to prepare or assist in preparing federal tax returns must have a valid 2019 Preparer Tax Identification Number, or PTIN. Paid preparers must sign the return and include their PTIN. But ‘ghost’ preparers do not sign the return. Instead, they print the return and tell the taxpayer to sign and mail it to the IRS. Or, for e-filed returns, they prepare but refuse to digitally sign it as the paid preparer. According to the IRS, similar to other tax preparation schemes, dishonest and unscrupulous ghost tax return preparers look to make a fast buck
by promising a big refund or charging fees based on a percentage of the refund. These scammers hurt honest taxpayers who are simply trying to do the right thing and file a legitimate tax return. Ghost tax return preparers may also: • Require payment in cash only and not provide a receipt. • Invent income to erroneously qualify their clients for tax credits or claim fake deductions to boost their refunds. • Direct refunds into their own bank account rather than the taxpayer’s account. The IRS urges taxpayers to review their tax return carefully before signing and ask questions if something is not clear. And for any direct deposit refund, taxpayers should make sure both the routing and bank account number on the completed tax return are correct. The IRS offers tips to help taxpayers choose a tax return preparer wisely. The Choosing a Tax Professional page has information
about tax preparer credentials and qualifications. The IRS Directory of Federal Tax Return Preparers with Credentials and Select Qualifications can help identify many preparers by type of credential or qualification. Taxpayers can report abusive tax preparers to the IRS. Use Form 14157, Complaint: Tax Return Preparer. If a taxpayer suspects a tax preparer filed or changed their tax return without their consent, they should file Form 14157-A, Tax Return Preparer Fraud or Misconduct Affidavit.

What happens when someone dies without a By : Overstreet, Miles, Cumbie & Finkenbinder, P.A will? When someone dies without a will ,things can get complicated. Who is responsible for making decisions? How do you know who inherits which assets? When there is no will to name a personal representative or beneficiaries, it can be difficult for a family to know where to begin when it comes to handling their loved one’s property. Fortunately, every state has laws that govern how property and assets of a deceased person, known as a decedent, will pass to their heirs when that person dies without a valid will. This is called intestate succession. Intestate succession laws provide guidance for determining beneficiaries of the decedent’s assets that would have been determined by the decedent’s will. Under Florida law, the family members of the decedent are entitled to the intestate estate: •Spouses – If the decedent was married at the time of death and had no children, grandchildren, etc., (called lineal descendants), the spouse inherits all of the decedent’s assets. The same is true if the surviving spouse is also the parent of the lineal descendants. •Children – When the decedent has children with someone other than the surviving spouse, the assets are split between the decedent’s spouse and children: The surviving spouse inherits
half, and the children divide the other half. •Parents – In cases where the decedent has no surviving spouse or lineal descendants, the decedent’s parents are next to inherit the assets of the decedent. •Siblings – Finally, if the decedent had no surviving spouse, lineal descendants, or living parents, any surviving siblings would share the inheritance. Intestate succession laws cover some, but not all cases: Assets that are jointly held (between spouses or with rights of survivorship), or held in a living trust will are not subject to intestate succession. Because intestate succession laws only recognize legal relatives, unmarried couples do not inherit their partner’s assets through intestate succession. Probate may be required: It is important to know that intestate succession does not automatically transfer the assets from the decedent to the heirs. The decedent’s estate may require probate in order to transfer the assets to their heirs. An experienced probate attorney can help you get through the legal process smoothly. Why the MLS won’t grow unless it goes full Europe
Orlando, FL - The MLS just announced its new franchise: Austin FC, to begin playing in two years. When the 2021 campaign kicks off, there will be 27 teams, including new franchises in Cincinnati, Miami, Nashville, and now Austin. While it’s definitely good news that soccer is expanding and gaining popularity in the USA, there’s one ugly truth: the league is growing, but its quality is stalled. The MLS is a hybrid between a normal soccer league and a typical American league. The main issue is that it’s NEITHER, and unless there’s real change, it will remain at the bottom of the five main American leagues, out of the top 10 world soccer leagues in quality. What they need to do to GROW, gain more popularity and become a top league in the world, is to drop the American system, and copy the European one. Here’s what they must do: 1)Quit expanding. More teams equal less average quality. The MLS will have 27 teams in 2021, still less than what the NFL (32), NHL (31), NBA and MLB (30) currently have. But what’s the main difference among all of them and the Major League Soccer? Every single one of them are the best in the world in their sport, by far. The overall talent in the MLS is plain mediocre. It’s full of under-accomplished players that’ll likely never jump to a better league, or old has-beens coming from Europe. There are a few nice exceptions, but the majority just come to retire in a league that pays high and demands little of their “superstars”. Teams don’t hire enough, nor produce enough, and there’s simply not enough talent for each team.
2) Change the calendar. The biggest issue when superstars come to play in the MLS has been… what to do in their spare time? The season ends in November. It kicks off on March. That’s a full three months of nothing, four if you didn’t make the playoffs. The problem goes beyond that. The CONCAChampions hasn’t been won by an MLS team since 2000. Here’s why: it resumes in February, when the MLS is barely coming off vacation. All the remaining leagues already have weeks of official matches. When the game kicks off, every MLS team is in disadvantage. Also, all the important major country tournaments are played in the summer. Every league in the world has ended already. But the MLS just keeps going. they can’t have a one-month break in the middle of the calendar. That provokes two things: all the important players who represent their countries are gone for weeks, and nobody cares about the MLS those days. The answer is clear: adopt the European calendar. Start in July/August, finish it in May. 3) Improve academies and scouting. Another difference between American leagues and the rest, is how they obtain young players. Big clubs have world class academies. But in the USA, to obtain young players, you must draft them from college. They are already developed, 20+ year old. In the rest of the world, each club hires them since they’re teenagers, even under 15, and develop them through all the stages and categories until they are good enough to make the team. Besides College, each MLS team must have their own academies and scouting.
