Shop with a Cop – Osceola County Sheriff Office Osceola County, FL - On December 12th, the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office teamed up once again with the management of Walmart, located at 3250 Vineland Rd. in Kissimmee, for another Shop with a Cop experience. Approximately 30 more children had an opportunity to do some holiday shopping with one or two of our deputies, Santa Cop, and of course, the Grinch! Dinner for the children was provided after their unique shopping experience! Thank you to all the Deputies and civilian staff, along with the Walmart Management team and the different team members that made a tremendous difference in these children’s lives, even if for just that moment! Together, we are indeed a strong community.

Concilio de la ciudad de St. Cloud elige nueva vice-alcaldesa St. Cloud, FL - El concilio de la Ciudad de St. Cloud eligió a Linette Matheny miembro del concilio como su nueva vice alcaldesa durante una reunión regular del concilio el 15 de noviembre. government for all ceremonial purposes and by the governor for purposes of military law, but shall have no administrative duties. The Deputy Mayor shall act as Mayor in the absence or disability of the Mayor”. Matheny was elected by the registered voters of St. Cloud in 2016 to serve a four-year term as Seat #2.

Educación / Education Valencia College ampliará entrenamiento de habilidades en 2019 y abrirá el campus en el centro de Orlando Orlando, FL - En 2019, para atender mejor a más de 74,000 estudiantes, Valencia College agregará nuevos servicios y espacio de aprendizaje en sus ocho campus y centros de capacitación en los condados Orange y Osceola. College will expand skills training, add downtown campus in 2019 Orlando, FL - In 2019, to better serve more than 74,000 students, Valencia College will add new services and learning space at its eight campuses and training centers across Orange and Osceola counties. Additionally, the college will open a new campus with the University of Central Florida and a workforce training center – both in downtown Orlando. While spring semester classes begin on Monday, Jan. 7, students may still apply and register by visiting the Future Students webpage. Students, faculty and staff arriving in January will see an update to Valencia College’s free-rides partnership with LYNX, as the local bus system adds the college to its new PawPass app. Participants can use their smartphones to present a virtual ticket and board the bus free of charge. Later in January, Valencia College will continue to expand economic opportunity in the region by opening the first of two new career training buildings

on its Osceola Campus in Kissimmee. The 14,700 square-foot building will also be home to the campus’s continuing education language programs. The shared downtown campus, opening on Aug. 26, 2019 in partnership with UCF, will include two buildings anchoring the Creative Village development west of Interstate 4: the Dr. Phillips Academic Commons building and UnionWest, a 15-story student housing and learning tower. The spring 2019 semester will close with the celebration of the college’s 50thcommencement, set to take place in two ceremonies – morning and afternoon – on May 5 at UCF’s CFE Arena. Orlando, FL - Florida Hospital and the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts are recruiting participants for a groundbreaking study that aims to determine if and how the performing arts can help memory loss-care recipients and their caregivers. The study is designed to build caregiver resilience and reduce stress levels through a fun and interactive class that will meet once a week for eight weeks, beginning in January. The curriculum was created exclusively for the study and provides opportunities for participants to explore their emotions, use their imagination and explore conflict in a safe environment. Both the care recipient and the caregiver must be available to participate in the classes and no performing arts experience is required. Central Floridians who meet the following qualifications have an opportunity to be a part of this groundbreaking study:

Sizemore serves as the utility’s in-house expert on LED street lighting and led the effort to design and build a permanent memorial light to honor the lives and service of Kissimmee Police Department Sergeant Sam Howard and Officer Matthew Baxter, both of whom were tragically killed in the line of duty in 2017.

dinner, décor, entertainment and goodie bag with gifts. If a senior is homebound, the will receive a holiday dinner and gift delivered by a Meals on Wheels volunteer on Christmas Day! Earlier that day, at Target located at 4750 Millenia Plaza Way, magic player Terrence Ross hosted 30 youth from the New Image Youth Center in Parramore to a holiday shopping spree, providing each child with a $100 gift card. He also treated them to a pizza party.

Commissioner Viviana Janer’s Parranda with Santa! spreads Holiday cheer Condado Osceola, FL – On Saturday, December 15, at the Robert Guevara Community Center, the Parranda with Santa was held by Commissioner Viviana Janer, whose purpose was to brighten the lives of residents during the Christmas season. Parrandas are the traditional carnival-like celebrations that characterize other parties that are common around holidays in Puerto Rico and

other Caribbean communities. It is estimated that more than 2,000 families enjoyed entertainment, food, prizes and live music with the presentation of Pleneros while the children received toys and enjoyed Wild Florida with the alligators. And of course, the "Parranda con Santa" was completed with the visit of Santa Claus. The parents took the opportunity to take pictures of their children with San Nicolás.

Lewd & Lascivious molestation arrest Osceola County, FL - On November 14, 2018, the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office received a report in reference to a thirteenyear-old female victim who disclosed she was sexually abused by Jeffrey Winward D.O.B. 02/06/72 of St. Cloud, FL, when she was eight years old. The investigation revealed there was probable cause that Winward committed at least seven acts of Lewd & Lascivious Molestation against the 8-yearold child. On December 6, 2018, Winward was arrested in reference to these allegations. Equipo del año: Boston Red Sox Ningún equipo dominó más que Boston lo hizo con las Grandes Ligas este año. En el primer año de Alex Cora (el 2º manager hispano que logra ganar la Serie Mundial), los Medias Rojas rompieron su récord histórico de triunfos, con 108. Pero lo mejor vino en postemporada. Venciendo a todos sus rivales sin despeinarse. Primero, a su acérrimo rival, Yankees, 3 a 1. Luego, al campeón del 2017, Astros, 4 a 1. Y, por último, al bicampeón de la Nacional, Dodgers, también 4 a 1. Es el 4º título en 14 años que se queda en Fenway Park, y este equipo es de los más dominantes que hemos visto este siglo. Amway Center achieves record-breaking Hispanic concerts in arena’s history Orlando, FL - When Puerto Rican trap artist Anuel AA performed at the Amway Center on November 30, his show marked the 14th Hispanic concert the arena hosted in 2018 and helped set a new record for most Hispanic concerts in one year. By comparison, the Amway Center hosted nine Hispanic concerts in 2017, the previous record.
