MEMBERS FIRST!
TAKE PART
IN YOUR ASSOCIATION! “YOU, THE MEMBER, ARE THE DRIVING FORCE FOR WHAT WE HAVE TO OFFER OUR MEMBERS, THE VALUE WE OFFER TO THE COMMUNITY, AND WHO WE ARE AS AN ASSOCIATION!”
BECKY CHIRILLO
Did you know the Osceola County Association of REALTORS® is a member driven association? That means that you, the member, are the driving force for what we have to offer our members, the value we can offer to our community, and who we are as an association! How YOU can get in the “driver’s seat”, is by getting INVOLVED! In the upcoming months you will start to see invitations to apply for the various committees OSCAR has. These committees are the backbone of what OSCAR encompasses. The REALTOR® Political Action Committee (RPAC) raises money to support those political issues that pertain to homeowners rights. This committee works very hard to make sure that as REALTORS®, our voices are heard. The REALTORS® Care Committee is a great way to be actively engaged in our community, and promote the REALTOR® brand. Roll up your sleeves and dive into a service project such as the ones we have coming up to assist the seniors of our community with home projects. Being a part of the Professional Development Committee gives you an inside view of how the very valuable educational classes we offer to all of our members are selected. Here, your own experience will come into play as you discuss and research the education most likely to benefit our members. Have an interest, or experience in Commercial Real Estate?
The Commercial Alliance Task Force is tasked with identifying the tools and best practices of helping our Commercial REALTORS® be successful in their field. We have a very active Global Alliance Committee. Being a part of one of the most active international markets provides ample global business opportunities to our members. This committee raises awareness and exposure to these opportunities, as well as positioning OSCAR members as the most influential and authoritative representatives of the Florida real estate business and profession.
In my first year as a REALTOR®, I sought different ways to increase my knowledge of my business. I very much enjoyed the educational offerings that OSCAR afforded me, but once I started getting plugged in to the committees, and later the BOD, it gave me a real understanding of our Association, and what it means to our members. All the while educating me with more intricate details of what one might consider the more “behind the scenes” information that has helped me become a better REALTOR®. I encourage you to look at our committees, see where you have an interest, and see where you can apply your experience while you grow yourself. Be involved, make a difference! - Be blessed.
ENHANCE YOUR SKILLS WITH TOASTMASTERS Effective communication skills are an important factor in engaging with clients, yet many of us don’t feel at ease when speaking publicly, whether in an intimate setting or in front of a large group. For those of us who aren’t secure in our public speaking skills, there is Toastmasters, a non-profit organization that strives to help people improve their speaking and leadership skills through regularly scheduled group meetings. .
NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR OUR BOARD OF DIRECTORS
We are now accepting applications for our 2019 Board of Directors. We are always looking for fresh faces to lead our Association and want to hear from our members who would like to leave their mark through initiative, vision, and strong leadership. If you feel like you have the skills and experience necessary to contribute to the furtherance of our success as an Association, we want to hear from you! There are several requirements to be considered: • Must be in a REALTOR® member in good standing • Strongly encouraged to be a major contributor to RPAC • Actively engaged in the real estate business and hold an active real estate license from the state of Florida • Required to have completed the Association Leadership Academy Program or have been an officer or director within the previous 10 years (5 years for officer positions) • Served actively on at least one standing committee or task force
Toastmasters is an international organization with clubs in 141 countries numbering 16,400 in total. We host a local chapter at the Association on Monday evenings from 5:30 to 6:30pm to help members and others in the public enhance their speaking skills and build their confidence in front of audiences. The club’s mission is to provide a supportive and positive learning experience in which members are empowered to develop communication and leadership skills, resulting in greater self-confidence and personal growth. Toastmaster members can expect help strengthening listening skills while attending these weekly meetings. They will learn to think quickly on their feet and develop their speaking ability, and meetings also aim to help attendees improve their leadership skills. Participants will use each meeting to present topics and receive helpful feedback by peers in their group. Mentorships are available and members can move at their own pace. Costs to join are minimal. There is a $20 fee to sign up and a $45 international dues cost every 6 months. If you are interested in joining a meeting, call Veronica Malolos at 407-791-3772 for more information. Unlock your potential by making a commitment to building your speaking and leadership skills through Toastmasters. We hope to see you at one of our upcoming meetings here at the Association!
Interviews will be conducted on Tuesday, June 26, and if selected to serve on the board, a training is on August 23 and 24 in Vero Beach. Please consider TWIS LIZASUAIN volunteering your time CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER and leadership skills to bettering our Association through service on our Board of Directors. If you have any questions or need additional information, please feel free to contact me at (407) 973-2627. If you are interested in applying, download an application from our website at www.osceolarealtors.com. Completed applications should be mailed to me at tlizasuain@osceola-realtors.com by June 17, 2018.
THANK YOU!!

volunteers needed! adopt a senior service project
We would like to thank all of the members who took part in our food drive to help the Osceola Council on Aging stock their pantry. Your non-perishable donations will go a long way to help the Council keep their residents healthy, happy, and well taken care of.

THE REALTORS® CARE COMMITTEE NEEDS YOUR HELP! Our REALTORS® Care Committee is renewing its partnership with the Osceola Council on Aging to lend their services to assist local seniors with landscaping and work. The committee is looking for selfless volunteers to donate a day on either June 11th or 13th to help with trees, cutting grass, cleaning pools and do other tasks to brighten up their yard and their spirits. Through the Council, we have selected two local seniors who have yard improvement projects and we need two teams of volunteers for each yard. Interested parties should contact Yohanna Cruz at ycruz@osceola-realtors.com or call us at 407-846-0117 to let us know you are interested.
Community outreach is important to us at the Association and for many in the real estate business. It’s through efforts like these that we improve the community we work in and attract new businesses and families to grow our community. That’s why our REALTORS® Care Committee is also getting behind a school supply drive that we are holding at the Association over the summer to help students in the area who are unable to afford their own supplies. We want to make sure that every child has the tools they need to start the school year prepared, so we’re asking members to bring notebooks, pencils, scissors, rulers, backpacks and the like to our office from now until August. Together, we can make a positive difference in these kids’ education.

FUNDS RAISED TO BENEFIT:
EARN THE CRS DESIGNATION: THE HIGHEST CREDENTIAL AWARDED This June, we are happy to bring you a chance to enhance your professional credentials with a Certified Residential Specialist designation. The CRS designation is the highest credential awarded to REALTOR® professionals and a must have for agents and brokers who are looking to distinguish themselves from the competition. With a CRS designation, agents receive discounts up to 50% on most education offered by the Residential Real Estate Council (RRC), plus access to the Council’s referral network. Designees will be listed in the Council’s online and print directories and will have eligibility to join the Qualified Consumer Leads program. Other perks include, discounts on insurance coverage through USI Affinity, professionally branded materials including customizable sign riders, business cards, etc; and preferred pricing to attend RRC events. And that’s just a taste of the benefits that come with a CRS Designation. To earn the designation, there are two paths: The 60/30/30 program which includes 30 hours of CRS course credits and is reserved for those who have completed 60 transactions or $30 million in volume in the past three years. The other is the Pro Program which consists of 16 hours of RRC education and is set aside for agents with 10 or more years of experience as a licensed agent or an average of $1 million per year with a minimum of 40 transactions. .
On June 25 and 26, we are hosting CRS: Technologies to Advance Your Business. In this two-day course, attendees will be guided through a process for analyzing the technology needs of their business. Course content will include time-saving technology tools; automated contact management and follow-up systems; strategic mass email and internet marketing; successful marketing via websites, blogs and other communications venues; and effective multimedia technologies for enhanced listing and buyer presentations. There is no test to take for the CRS designation once the credits have been fulfilled. There is only a $75 application fee, and if you are a member in good standing with the RRC and NAR, the annual dues to maintain the designation are $195. Designees will also be required to take two hours of continued education coursework each year available through several options. Does this designation sound like it’s for you? Seats are still available for our two-day course on June 25 and 26. More questions? Visit https://crs.com or email our Professional Development Director, Mona Somers at msomers@osceola-realtors.com. Consider branding yourself a real estate expert with a CRS Designation and get started on your way with “Technologies to Advance Your Business” today!
ATTENDEES FOR OUR LAST CRS CLASS IN 2017. BE PART OF OUR NEW CLASS ON JUNE 25 AND 26!
“Being a CRS since 2012 has been an excellent ROI for my business. To be able to network with like-minded individuals has been invaluable as well by being apart of the State Leadership Team. I've benefitted from the various classes and webinars offerings that have positively impacted my business procedures. The CRS referral network is strong and vibrant. I recommend that you make it apart of your journey as a REALTOR to becoming a CRS Designee.” - James Williams III, ABR, CRS, ACP, AHWD, BPOR, CDPE, CIAS, CNE, CNHS, e-PRO, FMS, FSP, ILHMS, RSPS, SFR, SRS, PPMC, 203k Specilist
