A Letter from the Executive Director
Dear Reader -
On behalf of our Board and staff, it’s my pleasure to present you with our annual report for 2025
Our focus is supporting ‘on-the-ground’ wildlife conservation work throughout Oregon. For us, that’s project collaborations, small grant awards to worthwhile efforts, fiscal sponsorship of coalitions and organizations, and, as appropriate, habitat conservation through acquisitions and easements. Here’s our snapshot of 2025:
17 project collaborations with partners across Oregon; several new initiatives and more in the pipeline for 2026, pending successful fundraising efforts
$268K in grants awarded to projects statewide (See page 7)
15 fiscally-sponsored organizations and coalitions, new friends in 2025 include the Golden Eagle Partnership and Green the Coast.

2 new land conservation projects; we acquired 65 acres along Foley Creek in the lower Nehalem River basin, and 300 acres of shrub steppe in the Metolius Winter Range area of central Oregon
Over $980K in sales at our gift shops, with a portion of net proceeds supporting the Foundation’s work.
Our capital campaign for the Sturgeon Viewing and Interpretive Center, home to Herman the Sturgeon, continues!

In 2025, we hosted our third annual Clays for Conservation, an event that continues to grow and get better each year.
Fourteen teams came together at Mid Valley Clays and Shooting School in June for a morning of friendly competition, aiming for the top score and a full year of bragging rights. Once the final clays were launched and the last shots fired, participants gathered for lunch and an awards ceremony, celebrating both the day’s winners and the shared commitment to conservation
Thank you to all our participants for making it a memorable day. We look forward to seeing everyone again next year on Friday, June 5, 2026.

Summer Soirée
Celebrating together on the fall equinox, friends and supporters of the Foundation returned this year to Butler Barn for an End of Summer Soirée, our largest annual fundraiser.
Guests rang in the final evening of summer with live music, dancing, and a delicious farm-to-table dinner Local wine and beer were kindly provided by Crowley Wines and Breakside Brewery
Guests participated in friendly bidding wars over silent auction items, raised their paddles in support of the organization, and one lucky winner won a fabulous San Juans trip for two in our Winner’s Choice raffle. Thanks to the generosity of attendees, we raised almost $88,000 to support our widespread conservation efforts

Safeguarding Oregon’s Wildlife
2025 Highlights from the Conservation K‑9 Teams
Since 2018, the Oregon State Police Fish and Wildlife Division’s Conservation K-9 Program has played a vital role in protecting Oregon’s wildlife, supporting public safety, and engaging communities statewide In 2025, with two K-9 teams, the program assisted with wildlife law enforcement, evidence recovery, investigations, and search-and-rescue missions across a wide range of landscapes and seasons. The teams logged more than 1,500 hours of enforcement patrols, serving as both an effective detection tool and a strong deterrent to poaching and other wildlife violations
The K-9 teams were instrumental in several high-impact investigations and life-saving responses throughout the year. Their work led to the recovery of critical evidence, sometimes even months after crimes occurred They supported long-term investigations that resulted in confessions, assisted other lawenforcement agencies, as well as helped locate lost and vulnerable individuals during search-and-rescue operations. Their work demonstrates the program ’ s value, not only to wildlife conservation, but also to public safety across Oregon
Community outreach and education were central to the program ’ s success in 2025. The K-9 teams participated in youth fishing and hunter education events, school visits, senior-center presentations, public safety events, and community meet-and-greets, helping build trust and understanding around wildlife laws and conservation
A highlight of the year included a public meet-and-greet hosted at the Oregon Wildlife Foundation Gift Shop at the Bonneville Fish Hatchery, where hundreds of community members learned how OWF’s support helps advance anti-poaching efforts and wildlife protection statewide

In 2025, our supporters helped us achieve an impressive $2 31 million in total fundraising revenue, reflecting a community deeply committed to conservation projects in Oregon
This year ’ s results show not only the strength of our programs, but also the trust donors place in our ability to respond to conservation challenges quickly and efficiently.
A particularly meaningful part of that story is an almost $200k in unrestricted gifts to the Foundation These contributions, given with confidence and without limitations, are the backbone of our work as they allow us to use them immediately as in the areas of greatest need They allow us to act quickly when urgent needs arise, invest in emerging opportunities, and sustain the day‑to‑day operations that make success possible.

Each year, Oregon Wildlife Foundation events raise vital funds that support our work Our sponsors, donors and paddle raise supporters helped us raise over $128k, reflecting a community eager to gather, celebrate, and invest in our shared mission. The Oregon Wildlife Foundation supports conservation in whatever way best advances our work. Often that means sharing our tax exempt status with the many like minded groups so they can work to become their own established 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations, or by securing and managing funds for major projects and initiatives. Quarterly, OWF awards grants for projects that are focused on conservation throughout the state.
These projects start with our Fundraising Committee, a group of board members and conservation-minded professionals, who meet to review grant requests and guide project development In 2025, this committee awarded over $268k for 29 projects, including a riparian vegetation projection study for the Western Beaver Cooperative as well as noxious weed removal along the upper Deschutes near Sunriver
2025 Project Distribution Funds
A New Generation of Conservationists are Stepping Up
Support of our work comes in many meaningful ways and one of the most inspiring trends we are seeing is the growing involvement of younger conservation advocates Their willingness to learn about Oregon’s wildlife challenges is leading them to take action, and we are seeing a noticeable impact.
Along the southern Oregon coast near Coos Bay, a small population of Coastal Humbolt Martens are facing population declines due to the loss of habitat and vehicle collisions along Hwy 101 As a result, the Highway 101 Coastal Marten Crossing Initiative has been formed to help protect the species by improving safe passage across the highway
In 2025, our Marten Crossing Project received an enthusiastic wave of youthoriented support. The Community 101 Class at the Oregon Islamic Academy awarded the project a generous grant Additionally, their contribution was joined by gifts from more than 30 donors who gave in honor of Nandan, a high school student who chose to dedicate his vocal arangetram, a major milestone for him and his family, to raising funds for the crossing Through his peer to peer outreach, Nandan inspired classmates, friends, and community members to join him in supporting the effort.
These passionate young people, together, supported this crossing project by contributing over $3,000 Their leadership is a powerful reminder that the future of conservation in Oregon is in good hands And they are ready to make a difference

OWF Gift Shops Unveil a Mission‑Driven Makeover
Spruce Gifts and Provisions stores are now officially known as OWF Gift Shops This change in branding reflects our desire to help shoppers learn about the Oregon Wildlife Foundation and make a stronger connection between their purchasing decisions and our wildlife conservation efforts. Wholly owned and operated by the Foundation, our flagship shop opened at Bonneville Fish Hatchery in 1989 and our other shop, in downtown Hood River, opened in 2020
Our OWF Gift Shop’s retail team is continuing to develop collaborations with Oregon companies, regularly introducing new products, and engaging the community through outreach events including Herman the Sturgeon’s birthday, group runs and hikes, and local artist showcases.
Both stores feature a carefully curated selection of Oregon‑made goods, nature‑inspired items, and products connected to our conservation work We now also offer an option, at checkout, to make a donation to support the Foundation or, in the month of June and July, the Sturgeon Interpretive Center capital campaign and Wildlife Conservation K9 teams respectively

2025 brought great life into OWF Gift Shops A rebirth of sorts, we started our rebranding adventure, creating a synergy with OWF efforts to raise awareness and funds for so many impactful wildlife projects here in the beautiful state of Oregon. As we grow into this wonderful new year upon us, we will strive to continue our efforts in fostering relationships with Oregon brands and artists.
Through our partnerships, we've been blessed to have some really neat co-branded merchandise through Oregon brands like Bruce's Candy, Oregon Hill Farms, Penelope's Soaps & Such, and many more
We’ve also been proud to partner with Ferment Brewing Company, our Hood River neighbor, on limited edition brews that support the Foundation’s project initiatives

Make a Big Make a
Last summer, Jamba and the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW) teamed up with the Foundation to launch a set of limited edition tumblers celebrating five Oregon species of conservation concern The response was incredible With 7,000 tumblers sold and each contributing $3 to support native wildlife, this collaboration turned Jamba smoothies into powerful action.
At our Summer Soirée, Steve Foltz, Jamba franchisee, presented OWF with a $20,000 check representing the impact of the summer tumbler campaign Their enthusiasm for Oregon’s wildlife shines bright, and we ’ re thrilled to share that plans are already underway for a new special‑edition spring tumbler.

Protecting the Past, Inspiring the Future
If you haven’t already, we hope you’ll visit the Bonneville Fish Hatchery in the Columbia River Gorge Stop by the Sturgeon Viewing & Interpretive Center, the home of “Herman the Sturgeon,” Oregon’s only living celebrity fish. The Interpretive Center provides viewing of Herman and other fish from above and below the surface of the water
The Interpretive Center is a product of our long-standing relationship with the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife In collaboration with the Department, the Foundation raised the funds needed for construction of the facility, which was dedicated in 1998. In addition to providing a permanent home for Herman the Sturgeon, the Center is also a place for community engagement and a source of information about wildlife conservation With the Sturgeon Interpretive Center as a feature attraction, approximately half million people visit Bonneville Fish Hatchery annually
Almost three decades on, the Center is showing its age In addition to building repairs, the habitat within Kelly’s Pond and a nearby sturgeon pond need improvement, and the interpretive signage a thoughtful redesign that better speaks to a contemporary audience.
