AtOrwellPark,Year7and8ScholarsreceiveexpertguidanceforSeniorSchool scholarshipapplications,withtailoredsupportineachsubjecttohelpthemshowcasetheir strengthsandmoveconfidentlytothenextstage.
Introductory talk
AmeetingwiththeHead,DeputyHead (Academic),andHeadsofDepartmentto discussthescholarshipprocessand requirements.
Preparation
Theschoolwillworkwiththescholar toprepare.Thiswillrequiresome additionalcommitment(forinstance thecreativesSaturday‘Option’ lessonsandASPIREsessions).Pupils willreceivespecialisttrainingand interviewpractice.
Portfolio/ CV
Scholars(apartfromacademic)will berequiredtoproduceaportfolioor SportsCVtosupporttheir application.Thisisusuallythe culminationofworkinYears7&8.
Application
Teachers,parents,andpupilswork togethertoassessthesuitabilityofa scholarshipapplication.Scholarship applicationsaresubmittedtosenior schoolsatthebeginningofYear8andare generallyrequiredtobesubmitteddirectly byparents.
Reference
Theschoolwillsupplyscholarswith necessaryreferences;usuallyonefrom theHeadandonefromtheHeadof Department.Sportsscholarsmayalso needreferencesfromexternalcoaches.
Assessment
Scholarswillbeaskedtoattendan assessmentdayorfinalinterview. Thedatesofthesevaryaccording toseniorschool.
