From the Commodore Hello to all members, Sadly this is my last report as your Commodore, now that I am coming to the end of my third year in this role. I have enjoyed every minute of it and I am glad to have had the opportunity of being part of moving the club forward both in terms of membership and financially, as we will eventually face our biggest challenge yet when the New Marina ultimately happens. I would like to thank my wife Jan for her support over the last three years, she has always been a great help to me, shown great interest in the club and how it can be made better for the benefit of all of us.

I also consider myself very lucky to have had such an excellent and supportive management team around me at all times and they continue to do a great job in the running of the club. Remember they are all volunteers and give a lot to the club! Without doubt the high point for this last month was the Commodores Ball on July 7th, which was, I think, one of the best ever. The food was exceptional and drew a lot of compliments from our visiting guests as well as so many members—so really well done PAULA. The entertainer and band were also great. FRED COLLINS received the “Club Person Of The Year” award for his outstanding work as our club bosun and great contribution to the life of the club.

All of the sea sports sections are flourishing, going really well and slowly growing in numbers—if you are a social member at the moment why not try one of the sea sport sections and give it a goit is great fun and a fantastic way of establishing new friendships. On the social side, at the time of making this report we are just about to have the Xmas in July party which I am sure will be a great evening. Faulty Towers in September is a virtual sell-out and it is going to be a special occasion—it is a fantastic show! Sadly Rachael is stepping down as Rear Commodore Social, due to ever increasing business commitments. Rachael has done a fantastic job and will be sorely missed-WELL DONE RACHAEL! I wish my successor every success in the future and I am sure the running of the club will be in very capable hands.

Sadly this is my last report as your Commodore, now that I am coming to the end of my third year in this role. I have enjoyed every minute of it and I am glad to have had the opportunity of being part of moving the club forward both in terms of membership and financially, as we will eventually face our biggest challenge yet when the New Marina ultimately happens.
