“Lovin’ from the Oven the ORM way”

Lizzy & Jacqui (LJ) haved moved to Moldova for 6 months to support the Irish Charity Outreach Moldova (ORM). They will be coordinating the children’s activities from April to October and ensuring that every child participates in meaningful activities with the support of the Irish Volunteers and Moldovan Staff.

They have also opened up a new Cafe here on the grounds of the orphanage and will be adding a new skill to the children’s growing list of activities. They will be baking up a storm with the children every day from 4-6pm.

The children will each take part (assisted by a volunteer) in the ultimate baking challenges, all set out by you! You place your order, theme and design and the children will take on the challenge.

The children will be using this new skill as an addition to their other educational modules.

They must plan the recipe with the help of Google (practicing their computing skills), they must write out the ingredients (practicing their writing skills) they must buy and weigh their ingredients (practicing the numeracy skills) and then they must prepare the product (practicing their fine and gross motor skills).

They then have to decorate the item (practice their writing and language skills). When the product is complete they must photograph and send the person who placed the order a message and upload the photograph (new skills). Then comes the fun stuff - they get to share and eat the final product with the other children here in the orphanage.

So how can you get involved?

Place an order (personalized queen cakes, Birthday cakes, muffins etc) on our facebook page. Make a donation to the mycharity page (www. mycharity.ie/event/ljs_cafe) and give them your feedback once your order is complete and let them know how they got on. You can share the images for a special Birthday message, special event message or a special day message with all your friends and family letting them know how these wonderful children got involved and how they helped shape your special day.
