TIME TO GET MESSY!

Since 2016, we have hosted Mess Fest -- an annual two-day event celebrating all things squishy, slimy, and messy. Mess Fest will return on May 10th and 11th with two full days of colorful chaos, wild science, messy experiments, and handson fun.

Mess Fest features multiple exploration zones focused on creativity, science, and sensory play. Guests have the opportunity to make a mess in the name of learning!

Over the last few years, Mess Fest has brought in a lot of guests over the weekend.

There are even Mess Fest fanatics, guests who have told us they buy memberships just

for this event (ie. "We drive in from Tampa annually to visit you because my kids look forward to Mess Fest all year!")

Mess Fest requires preparation, support, and day-of assistance from multiple departments and teams. Everyone steps in to make an unforgettable experience for our community during this unique event!

Some of the highlights at this year’s Mess Fest will include:

Extreme Foamsplosions

WeFlip Acrobatic Science shows

“Mess Hall” activities such as Alka-rockets and Marble Art

Slimebar and Painted Pots

workshops

Local artists and makers

Mess Fest is included with admission on May 10 & 11, 2025.

Animalopolis

Animalopolis will take you on a voyage into the magical world of animals. A bit fanciful, a bit "Seussian" perhaps, a place of good natured humor, beauty and just plain fun for kids and their families.

Whether going nose to nose with hippos as they graze upon nature's massive salad bar, or eye to eye with dancing bears, sea lions turning somersaults, an otter that prays, we are reminded that nature provides us with humor and wonder, everywhere.

TEN YEARS & DOZENS OF MUMMIES AGO

Orlando Science Center hosted Mummies of the World in the summer of 2015, featuring multiple full-body mummies and many more mummified and preserved remains Some of the remains were over 4,500 years old, and one mummy was a “modern scientific study”, being preserved using Egyptian mummification techniques but in the 1990s

The collections arrived via a large caravan of semitrucks, complete with helicopter escort and a security detail, and the installation of the traveling exhibit included weeks of preparation, planning, and build-out.

Mummies of the World was a “blockbuster” exhibit for the Science Center, offering guests the chance to see one-of-a-kind sights while learning about the science of mummification and archaeology.

The Science Center also celebrated its 60 year anniversary during the run of the exhibit, highlighting our impact in Central Florida and the growth we’ve had alongside our community th
