Origin Origin is a family run British company who design and manufacture contemporary furniture products for use within education, workplace, healthcare and hospitality environments.

Our products are manufactured, stocked and assembled in Great Britain providing our customers with high quality products that can be easily customised and delivered within short time frames.

Inspired by the form of a classic wooden chair, Mojo utilises a modern polymer material improving the aesthetic and functional capabilities of this popular typology. With separate frame, seat, backrest and armrest components, Mojo can be customised to suit a broad range of uses from desk to visitor to dining chairs and more.

Following an insight that interior specifications are becoming ever more demanding, we recognise the need to respond to different levels of comfort and materiality in the contract furniture market. This was the starting point for Mojo and what became our most demanding of chair project to date.

The Mojo Chair is a technically sophisticated polymer based chair, inspired by the form of a classic wooden chair made popular in the 1960s. The seat and backrest components follow subtle plywood forms which are the defining characteristic of the chairs identity.

same wood inspired approach, however using a modern polymer material and manufacturing technique, which makes light of more complex wood forms and fixing capabilities.

Mojo is now made from over 50% recycled polypropylene.

We recognise the importance of moving to more sustainable methods of manufacture and procurement. That’s why we’ve recently increased the use of recycled PP in our poly chairs; a step which is part of our ambition to build an ever more sustainable furniture company and become part of the circular economy.

50% of the polymer used in all Origin’s chairs is now made from recycled content and to bring the same rigid and durable product we

use prime glass to reinforce the chair. The new compound material has been optimised to maintain the same aesthetic appeal and durable qualities, but now shipped with a more environmentally friendly footprint.

Combined with Origin’s use of gas assisted moulding – reducing cycle time and material usage to just 5kg per unit – our new recycled PP formula gives the next generation Mojo chair a brighter, more sustainable future.

After years of persistence and (many!) a failed trial, I’m happy we’ve not only got a winning formula but can ship for the same price.
