Brighton College (Singapore) recently announced that it had received approval to extend its curriculum and course offerings to pupils aged up to 13 years from August 2025.

The approval allows us to offer our renowned and robust British National curriculum and focus on the development of the whole child throughout their formative years, setting them up superbly for future success.

The expansion of the school to pupils aged up to 13 means that it can offer a Brighton College education to more children for longer, to encompass their critical growth years.

When I look back at my time at Dover Court International School, the main thing that will stand out (other than good friends and memories!) is the teachers. They are the true MVPs behind our cohort’s good grades. It was visible to us, as students, the uncountable extra hours that all our teachers put into marking our tests and coursework.

However, whilst it was their extra work that got us the grades, it was their kindness as more than just teachers that got us through the course. Allowing us to use their classrooms as a fun and safe space at lunch, constantly looking out for us and providing guidance for the future are a few examples of how they went above and beyond to support us during the very important last two years of our education.

I still remember when in Year 8 our Form Tutor showed us a philosophy video during form time. At that time, I had just come from a non-English speaking country and that was the first time I watched a Crash Course video, since then a new world opened in front of me. I had the privilege as the founding Head of College of opening the doors to Dulwich College (Singapore) in 2014 and since then we have gone on to become one of the leading international schools on the island. Nicole Joye, Parent Three of my sons have been part of the Dulwich College (Singapore) family. My oldest one graduated this year (Class of 2022), while my two younger boys are currently in Year 11 and Year 6.

Dulwich College (Singapore) is an exceptional school. The community is very welcoming and always willing to help. Pastoral care is amazing. The school really puts the children first. Teachers are supportive, highly motivated, enthusiastic and I feel they really know my children well. They always reply to my emails. The mandarin department makes lessons fun and engaging. The University Counselling team is fantastic too. My oldest son was well guided by the team throughout his IB journey, by helping my son choose universities which best suited him based on what he wanted to study.

At Dulwich you are not just a number. You are part of a family. The Head of College is very approachable and a great role model. He walks the talk and has time for a chat. Same goes for the Head of Senior School and Head of Junior School. Facilities are great, with a wide range of CCA options available. There is something for everyone.

The sports, drama and music department are top-notch. My oldest son, who is into sports, was part of the Ignite! Exceptional Performance Development Programme which was an enriching experience for him. He has learned so much from his sports teachers. My second son is into drama, and being part of a stage crew is his passion. He is currently part of the lightning team and has learned so much from his drama teachers. My youngest loves all of his teachers. They are caring and supportive. He always looks forward to going to school. The school gives my children a sense of belonging. My boys are proud to be part of such an outstanding and caring school!

Jody Che, Parent Moving to Singapore in the middle of a pandemic was never something I imagined our family doing, but Dulwich made the transition for our children smooth and comfortable. We moved to Dulwich from an American school system, and the teachers and staff made sure the children settled in without a hitch. Over the past two years, every teacher I have met has been attentive and deeply invested in my kids, in both their academics and social lives. The Heads of School are always available to discuss your concerns, and can be seen amongst the students on a daily basis. They truly get to know their students.

We chose Dulwich because of their strong academic standing, their wide variety of CCAs offered as well as their excellent (and mandatory) Chinese programming. We believed that sending our kids to Dulwich would allow them to develop into well rounded global citizens; and so far, we have been very pleased with how our kids have blossomed. We love that the Dulwich Family is diverse and inclusive, and have made friendships that we know will last a lifetime.

Tejas Thorpe, Senior School Student I have been a student at Dulwich College (Singapore) since I was in Junior School. This year marks my 9th at the College. Throughout my time here, I have always been presented with countless opportunities and all the necessary support to reach my fullest sporting potential.

I strongly believe that at Dulwich, students are placed first and that we are given a choice.

Regardless of sporting ability, the College ensures that everyone is given a chance to pursue a sport that they enjoy, develop their skills and achieve their sporting goals.

Students who prefer to approach sports as an extra-curricular activity may do so as there are over 300 options. Older students are also encouraged to guide and coach the younger ones, which creates strong bonds across the year groups and the College as a whole. Additionally, for those who prefer to be involved in Sports at a more competitive level, opportunities to participate in the weekly fixtures between other schools and occasional competitions aboard are also available.

Overall, Sports at the College is extremally inclusive of all students abilities.

Being a keen athlete, I have been selected to be in the Ignite! Exceptional Performance Development Programme. Ignite! supports Senior School students similar to myself, who have a strong interest and passion in sport (or in music and the arts) and helps us to develop in all aspects of sporting ability. Being part of this programme has continued to boost my development as an athlete and helped me reach my goals. I have a mentor that guides me through physical conditioning and advises me on specific training regimes. This has certainly helped me shape and achieve my goal of becoming a better sportsperson.

What I truly enjoy about the College are the many state-of-the-art training facilities and the fantastic coaching staff. They make it their priority to guide and support us to reach our fullest potential and to meet our goals.

Success does not just happen, it is strategic, planned and deliberate. It is about teachers who know their students and their understanding of what every student needs as an individual. This is what great teaching and learning looks like.

We’d like to extend a huge congratulations to our graduating class of 2022. Their hard work has resulted in some outstanding results, both individually and as a year group. Of the 86 students who took the IBDP, we achieved a phenomenal average point score of 38.9, with 48% of our students achieving a score of 40 or above. We are also delighted to share that 97% of our students achieved offers to their first choice university.

Dulwich College (Singapore) has achieved an outstanding set of IGCSE results, the best in the College’s history. Of all grades awarded, 72% were A* or equivalent, 89% were A*/A or equivalent and more than half (51%) of the 122 candidates obtained A*/A or equivalent in ALL their IGCSE subjects.

A partnership with Patrick Mouratoglou, the coach responsible for mentoring and nurturing rising tennis stars like Stefanos Tsitsipas, Coco Gauff, Holger Rune and Alexei Popyrin, the programme will allow students to immerse themselves in the sport and engage in a curriculum that delivers excellent academic results,.

Lining the wall in the hallway that connects our elementary and middle school are several dozen life-size images of students and educators. Aisha Oravec Parent “When we moved to Singapore our children were in elementary school and pre-school.

At that age the quality of the teacher is particularly important, we looked carefully at the satisfaction and reputation of the teachers in the schools we considered.

We were looking for a program that provides an American-style education, but takes advantage of Singapore’s global population.

Our children came from a very intimate progressive IB school in Mumbai and we were a little overwhelmed by the size of international schools in Singapore. We looked for a school culture that would make our kids feel all the support of an intimate program with access to the many resources that a larger school provides. We also talked to parents with children at the schools we considered to make sure we would find ourselves in a supportive and welcoming community.

SAS has exceeded our expectations in many ways. Each division is tailored to the needs of its age group and challenges our children to grow as independent, capable learners. As expected, we have had wonderful experienced, and happy teachers for our children at every level.

My teachers were stellar, they were always willing to take the time to help me succeed, even if it was not during class time. An example that comes to mind would be my DP Chemistry class, where I approached my teacher before the final IB exams to ask for help on a topic, and he went above and beyond, teaching me content one-on-one during his lunchtime and making sure I understood it fully. I also feel like the personal attention given to each student is one of the most unique characteristics of SAIS. Everyone has their own interests and goals, and the faculty and academic counselling team worked with each of us personally to create a pathway that fit our needs, giving all the students the strong foundation we need to enter our future confident that we will succeed.

The option of multiple pathways was the main thing that drove me to SAIS. Jaithra Mallipeddi, Curriculum pathway: BTEC Class of 2022 graduate The Early Learning Village’s curriculum is specially designed for young learners following the Reggio-Emilia approach and has a play-based, child-led and hands-on learning environment. The teacher will follow Elias’s interest and expand on it in the classroom; this gives him the chance to take ownership of his own learning. Elias’ social-emotional skills have flourished under the guidance of his teacher in just a few short months; he loves his school and is happy and excited to go to school every morning. The teachers and support staff have gone above and beyond in caring about the students’ wellbeing. The ELV has an incredibly amazing student support team that has really helped address my child’s developmental and social-emotional needs.

The kids have been involved in various CCAs, sports, music lessons (piano, guitar, choir) and clubs since they arrived. Carson has been in the bilingual Mandarin programme since Pre-K, and we have enjoyed the close-knit nature of that group. Calla plays on the SAIS U19 Girls basketball team, an activity she really enjoys. We have also been involved in the school as parents, including on the PTA board, helping to organise social events, and providing some teaching assistance in the music department. BELONGING LEADS TO SUCCESS At Stamford, we believe in the power of belonging. A student's sense of belonging relates to the feeling of acceptance and connection with fellow students, teachers, and the school community.

Recent research makes it crystal clear that belonging is a vital ingredient for learning.

In every learning environment, students pick up on cues and signals about their belonging. When these messages support students’ belonging, they can learn freely. When these messages make students feel physically or emotionally unsafe, or cause students to question their belonging, their cognitive resources are diverted away from learning (Healey & Stroman, 2021).

At Stamford, developing this sense of belonging is a key part of our strategic plan. We emphasize it throughout the school – in classroom projects where students draw on family history and cultural traditions; in morning meetings and advisory where students tell stories, listen to one another and reflect on values; and in school activities where

students display their passions and talents.

In high school, students choose a pathway to shape their learning journey that best suits their needs. These include the IB Diploma Programme, Advanced Placement classes, and the Business and Technology Education Council (BTEC) Diploma program to hone students’ skills in the industry of their choice. We find that the ability to choose a pathway gives students voice and increases their sense of belonging.

The “secret sauce” of belonging is teaching faculty and coaches who strive every day to deepen relationships with students, as well as a school culture that celebrates everyone’s participation. Our teachers meet students where they are to help them grow physically, emotionally, and academically.

The children were at Kellett, a British International School in Hong Kong and they had been very happy there. Prior to that, we were in London, so we knew that we wanted to continue in the British education system.

Although there were a number of schools to choose from in Singapore within the British system, we required a co-educational school that spanned both Junior and Senior levels. Tanglin stood out from the start. We did a virtual tour and were blown away with the facilities and the opportunities that the children could gain at Tanglin.

We felt that they would find all aspects of Tanglin that they could enjoy and excel at. The children settled in from day one and are really enjoying their time in school. Barnaby started doing Latin, French and Spanish and is thoroughly enjoying the Tanglin language programme. My parents liked the fact that Tanglin offers the option of A Levels or International Baccalaureate, and I chose to take A Levels. The subjects I took were Physics, Maths, Economics and Biology. I chose this combination because I enjoyed them and wanted to have the pathway open for Medicine if I decided to pursue it.

My teachers and parents encouraged me to participate in activities outside of my core academic curriculum. Hence, when I was in Senior School, I had been an active participant in the World Scholars Cup. A group of my friends and I chanced upon the opportunity in NAQT (National Academic Quiz Tournament) and we decided to start practicing and co-founded NAQT at Tanglin. I am proud to say that we made it to the top 50 globally. I also played Rugby within and outside of School and was appointed Pastoral Prefect in addition to being Head Boy. I am looking forward to pursuing my undergraduate studies at Brown now that I have graduated. Tanglin will always be special to me.”

Getting involved in class and asking for help was always encouraged by my teachers and this positive culture at Tanglin has increased my confidence greatly.

In Year 12, I joined the United Nations’s Equality Project, where we split into small groups and chose one of the UN Sustainable Development Goals to improve. Normally, this would be an external community service project. However, due to COVID, we had to adapt to the circumstances and work on improving something within the school.

My group chose Goal Number 12, “Responsible Consumption and Production”. We decided to start selling reusable coffee cups at the cafe to reduce single-use plastic and we spoke to the Director of Marketing and Communications and the Head of Food Services at Tanglin to organise this initiative and provide general feedback regarding the sustainability of food at Tanglin.
