Latest News Brighton College (Singapore) announced its plans to bring the full Brighton College experience to Singapore by developing the College from a Preparatory School to an all-through school, for pupils from the age of 18-months to 18-years. The plans are subject to the relevant authorities’ approvals, being worked on by the College.

By offering a Brighton College education for the full duration of a child’s academic life in Singapore, the College will enable existing pupils, as well as those considering the next steps for their children, to benefit from the best British education and the College’s legacy and strong academic track record. The plans are part of Brighton College (Singapore)’s mission to create ‘A Brighton Future’ in the heart of Singapore offering a full British curriculum from Pre-Prep all the way to senior school.

Awarded the prestigious title of ‘UK School of the Decade’ by renowned British newspaper, the Sunday Times, Brighton College UK has been referred to as ‘one of the hottest tickets in independent education’. Since its foundation in Singapore in 2020, Brighton College (Singapore) has been awarded the “Best New School in Singapore” and has grown steadily. Testimonials Astrid, Year 12 Student This is my tenth year at Dover Court, and the school feels very much like home to me. I enjoy the diverse nature of DCIS, with students from all over the world and of all abilities. Being part of such a diverse community allows for openmindedness and a global mindset. As a teenager, the number one thing that I like about going to school is the community feeling, how all our differences are what gives us a common sense of belonging. But, also, all my teachers are amazing. They see me as an individual and create fantastic learning opportunities for us, making sure that we know that they are there to support us.

I finished my GCSEs in the spring and I’m now in Sixth Form, studying the IBDP. I want to work with children and right now my plan is to become a teacher. I want to help children reach their full potential and be a role model for them. I have dyslexia and the support I have been given from my teachers has helped me get to where I am today. I hope to one day be able to do the same to others.

Jacqueline Glazerman, Deputy Head of Secondary – Community & Guidance I arrived in Singapore in 2023, to begin my role at Dover Court International School. I am sure I am not alone when I say that COVID-19 was a catalyst for rethinking my own priorities and re-establishing what my core values were as a leader. I wanted to be part of an internationally-minded, diverse, and inclusive school that placed wellbeing at the absolute centre of its provision, offered a broad range of opportunities for its students, and that embraced the idea that success looked different for everyone. I had the privilege, as the founding Head of College, of opening the doors to Dulwich College (Singapore) in 2014. Since its opening, we have gone on to become one of the leading international schools on the island. The College has a British independent school ethos and draws upon the proud 400-year heritage, excellence, innovation, and values of our founding school in London. We are part of the Dulwich College International family of schools and have a global outlook and contemporary approach, reflecting the diversity of the student body here. Testimonials Laura Rance, Parent My three children have been attending Dulwich since 2016, and there are so many reasons to love the School. Other than being culturally diverse; our children learn alongside students from different nationalities; the academics are strong.

Our new building, dedicated to nurturing future leaders The Greenhouse completes the building programme at Dulwich College (Singapore). This seven-storey state-of-the-art structure provides additional creative learning spaces, including a 400-seat multi-purpose auditorium, a STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and maths) workshop to accommodate our SE21 initiative (STEAM and Entrepreneurship in the 21st Century), a professional teaching kitchen, film and media suites, three additional black box theatres and more. It will also include a vast two-storey IB centre covering workspaces, study rooms and social areas for our Sixth Form students. Additional flexible teaching spaces, workshops and a rooftop garden will cater to the needs of the College’s growing student population.

Balance in Boarding At Marlborough College Malaysia we pride ourselves on our award-winning boarding programme, never more so than when we see our pupils thriving in a boarding environment. One essential aspect of our boarding programme is ‘Balance in Boarding’.

Balance is a key aspect to every pupil at the College, day or boarding. However, in boarding, our pupils have the facilities and opportunities of the College at their fingertips, able to both work hard and play hard in whatever discipline they choose: sport, music, drama and more. Student Testimonials Daisy Reeves, Class of 2023 My fondest memories of Stamford were formed outside of the classroom, particularly in the swimming pool. Being a member of the swim team has allowed me to travel to Thailand, compete with elite swimmers from other international schools, and learn discipline in sports. Stamford has provided an abundance of opportunities, including starting a netball team and coaching U14 netball girls, being a house captain, and serving as the Student Council president in senior year. These roles have helped shape my journey and prepared me beyond academics, developing confidence, leadership, and diplomacy.

My IBDP art project about my own journey to understanding New Zealand's history has resulted in connections that I will cherish forever. After putting up my exhibition, many teachers and students approached me in the hallways to share their thoughts on the topic and their own family history. I am grateful for the skills and experiences acquired during my time at Stamford, which have prepared me for my next chapter in life, whether studying at home or traveling the world.

Aryanee Leanne Nair, Class of 2023 I chose the full IB pathway with higher level English, history and economics, and standard level mathematics, chemistry and Chinese B, which allowed me to choose an academic path that best suited my learning style.

I have been able to join many different clubs at Stamford that reflect both my interests and values, including the Model United Nations club, where I gained confidence in public speaking and won the “best delegate” award at one of the conferences. Additionally, as a huge foodie, I will always remember International Fiesta, where I got to try a buffet of different cuisines.

The community at Stamford emphasizes study-life balance, and the teachers are very passionate about the subjects they teach, which makes learning much more interesting and less monotonous. Moving forward, I will be going to the UK to study international relations with either Chinese or history, possibly focusing on policy making or national security.

Zara Khan I am originally from India, but have spent my life as a third culture kid, living in countries such as Indonesia, Malaysia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates before moving to Singapore in 10th grade. Choosing to take both AP and IB classes, my time at Stamford shaped me as a person, pushed me out of my comfort zone, and developed my leadership skills. I was able to engage in extracurricular activities such as being the chair of the Athletics Council, captain of the U19 touch rugby team, and founder of the iBusiness club.

As a blended pathway student, I was given the opportunity to choose academically challenging classes that will help me in college. The academic and college counseling team at Stamford supported me in preparing for my future after graduation. I will be attending Northeastern University in Boston to major in finance with the hopes of becoming a financial consultant.

The relationships formed with teachers and students at Stamford will always be close to my heart.

Michael Eijbergen I come from a Dutch-Surinamese family and, like many of us, have lived in various places. I have spent most of my life living in Washington, DC, and moved to Singapore at the beginning of 11th grade because of my parents' work. I am now finishing up my last year as an AP student at Stamford.

Moving to a new school during the height of the pandemic was a challenging experience because it was difficult for me to integrate into the school community. However, over time I was able to find my place in school sports like football, which allowed me to connect with more people. I was able to develop a more global perspective through friends from different backgrounds, and these relationships will always be important to me.

After graduating, I plan to attend Utrecht University in the Netherlands, where I will study politics to help enact change on a broader scale.

Charlotte Aninditta I am Indonesian and moved to Singapore in the fifth grade. Initially, I was placed in English as an Additional Language (EAL) program, where I learned how to better communicate with classmates and teachers. I found EAL to be an opportunity to learn about the concept of belonging by interacting with others who were going through the same journey.

During my years at Stamford, I sought opportunities to connect with others through sports, musicals, and clubs. I participated in various sports teams and learned the importance of cooperation, discipline, and perseverance. These qualities helped me prepare for my future and graduation. I plan to attend Syracuse University to study political science and law.

I believes that Stamford has become an important part of my academic life and that the memories I have with friends and teachers will stay with me in college.

Meet the CEO Craig Considine

We were incredibly pleased to receive an OUTSTANDING rating in the BSO (British Schools Overseas) Inspection that took place this year. This inspection was the first time Tanglin has undertaken the process as one school, having previously been inspected as individual Infant, Junior and Senior units. It was indeed pleasing, therefore, to have the coherence and communication between the key stages of a Tanglin education recognised by the inspectors. This whole school approach was also one of the reasons why Tanglin was named International School of the Year in the ISC (Independent Schools Council) Global School awards. The immense professionalism, innovation and care of our teachers and broader community create a climate that allows us to stretch and challenge each child and young person.

The introduction of the new Tanglin Centenary Music Scholarship is testament to this. Launched in September 2023, Tanglin’s first scholarship offering is open to students entering Senior school who demonstrate outstanding musical proficiency.

Chatsworth’s Primary Years Programme (PYP) provides a wonderful platform for learning, taught by teachers who are skilled, motivated and kind.

Our favourite part is the weekly Performance class. Students learn to perform songs and dances in front of an audience and to be confident. This is an invaluable skill to teach children.

Student Testimonials Katherine, G12 The teachers at NLCS (Singapore) are among the most committed, knowledgeable, and supportive. My teachers enabled me to grow as a student, encouraging me to branch out into the subjects I was most interested in, and provided endless support when I led school-wide events, lectures and assemblies. As an IB student, my teachers have guided me on CAS projects, extended essays and TOK work in addition to individual subjects and CCAs. I receive support beyond the classroom, and their timely feedback on my schoolwork has helped me progress in the IB and prepare for my final exams.

Kenneth, G12 NLCS (Singapore) offers a wide range of academic enrichment programmes for students of all ages. I’ve personally attended many McCabe lectures, all of which have left me inspired and well-informed, even on subjects outside my scope of interest. The school also provides several academic and extracurricular activities for us to expand our knowledge on subjects we are passionate about. One of my favourite extracurricular activities is the Coding CCA, in which students from various year groups participate in sets of coding-related problems. I enjoy this activity immensely as it allows me to work on my programming skills outside my computer science classes. For more than 50 years, the College has remained committed to the challenge of bringing to life educational innovation that will equip our students to become agents of change as they strive to bring our Mission to life and create a better future for us all. UWCSEA was the second member of the UWC Movement, which now has 18 schools and colleges around the world. Opened by Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew as Singapore International School in 1971, SIS became the United World College of South East Asia in 1975.

Expanding as Singapore has grown we are now a K–12 international school of around 6,000 students, spread across two campuses.

Our united, welcoming community embraces students and their families from some 100 different nations, and we have over 20,000 alumni spread across the globe who remain connected to us and to the UWC Mission. As our alumni go out into the world in increasing numbers, we have much to celebrate. This school has one of the most wide-ranging and comprehensive selections of extracurricular activities to choose from. My extracurriculars have ranged from rugby, to gardening on the rooftop, to saxophone in the jazz band, to taking French lessons after school. My experience with activities in UWCSEA represents only a small fraction of the combinations possible in school. Originally from Scotland, I’m the proud father of two boys, and husband to Cherie. Irene Charles, Early Years Teacher One aspect of teaching at XAA that I enjoy most is the play-based curriculum and its child-centred philosophy. The learning is childinitiated and restricted only by rules about safety and respecting others.

During their play, the children can access any resources they wish to use in class, and their explorations can take any direction they like. Teachers are there to support each of them and plan provocations and invitations based on the interests of the students.

I feel strongly that this is crucial to how young children develop their skills and learn “how” to learn. This way of teaching at XAA allows me to witness fantastic learning and breakthroughs daily through play.

Testimonial Emma Rossi, Grade 9 Student Our school has great students and teachers. I have felt very welcomed since day one! It is a great environment to meet friends from all over the world. Our school work is mainly project-based instead of just learning facts and reciting them. This makes our classes exciting and fun. Guided by our caring teachers, we can take ownership of our learning and develop essential skills we will need to succeed now and in the future.

For example, during our Design classes, we learn about the Design Cycle, Design Thinking and Constructive Discontent and how to use them to make your idea come to life. We research our potential customers and create real products. Right now, I am designing a unique phone charger that will charge your phone and several devices simultaneously. This type of project helps us understand how things work in real-life scenarios and how we can use our creativity for problem-solving and developing great ideas. In addition, we have a great selection of afterschool activities at school.

I have joined our Esports and basketball teams. We had a lot of internal competitions and competitions against other international schools. It is fun and exciting to be a part of the team, learn new skills, meet new friends and develop new hobbies.
