Organic Arable is a grain specialist dedicated to supporting the UK’s organic cereal sector. Founded in 1999, we’re a group of farmers working tirelessly for the success of all things connected to the growing & selling of organic British grains.
Organic isn’t just a buzzword for us. It’s our everything. We’re committed to the credibility & rigor of organics, & the myriad benefits this type of farming brings to ecosystems, animal welfare, human health & the planet And we’re in it for the right reasons. For both our farmers & buyers, we offer transparent, fixed rate commissions. No hidden fees or surprises. Our board doesn’t take dividends – instead we inve st in the success of the sector by supporting organic cereal research.

We offer two types of membership:
Full members commit to selling all their grain through Organic Arable, opening up the opportunity to broker long term buying relationships.
Grain members commit to a variable volume, giving farmers flexibility year on year. Pay a higher commission rate than full members. Both memberships cost £180.

Even for experienced farmers, navigating the grain market can be tough – & time consuming. We take the hard work out of marketing & selling your organic crops so you can spend more time focusing on the good stuff – like building fertility & biodiversity on your farms.
We’ll secure buyers for your grains at the best possible price.
What’s more, our transparent pricing means we only charge a fixed transaction fee, so you know what to expect. And when we get a better price for you, you get a better margin – unlike nontransparent trading companies, who’ll just pay you the same & pocket the difference.

Unlike our competitors we do not work with imports, so we’ll neve r bring imported grains and pulses to market ahead of your product.
Instead, we market the many benefits of British-grown, keep buyers informed of the volumes of grain in the market, and encourage them to buy British ahead of imported offers.

HOW IT WORKS TEST & ADVISE
We sample & test your grain & offer advice on its best market.
MARKET & SELL
Next we find a buyer & negotiate a price.
HAULAGE, INVOICE & PAY
As your ‘mercantile agent in possession’ we execute contracts, arrange haulage, raise invoices and – the best bit – pay you. And that’s it.
All sales are credit insured meaning the value of your crop is protected – even if your buyer runs into financial difficulty.
SUPPLYING YOUR SEED
SEED YOU CAN TRUST
As fellow farmers we know that choosing the right seed is crucial. Buying seed from us saves you time and money – & gives your crop the best start. We understand the cheapest doesn’t always mean the best value, & take seed quality into consideration when recommending seed. Our industry-leading experts do all the field research – so you don’t have to. Our ongoing particip atory trials means we have access to the latest information about which varieties perform well in organic systems, ensuring you have the right seed year on year.
As we buy seed wh olesale, we can supply it to you at a discounted price.
What’s more, because we also sell organic grain to mills & brands, we’re in a unique position of knowing which varieties buyers want – and don’t want – ensuring seed bought from us produces indemand crops, rotation after rotation.
