Monthly Billing

The Oregon Park District is excited to offer you the ability to pay for your annual Nash Recreation Center pass on a monthly basis. See page 5 for full details.

Sibling Discount

The Oregon Park District now offers a sibling discount of 10% off the regular fee for each additional child enrolled in a program where one child has already enrolled at full price in the same session. The discount can only be applied by registering at Nash or over the phone.

Activity Guide Release

The Oregon Park District issues three guides per year in April, August, and December. You can find the full Oregon Park District Activity Guide on the District’s website at www.oregonpark.org. The Activity Guide is also distributed in the Ogle County Life newspaper. Since 2008, the Oregon Park District has been recognized as an Illinois Association of Park Districts and Illinois Park and Recreation Association Distinguished Accredited Agency, the highest award a Parks and Recreation Agency can receive in Illinois.

Winter/Spring Registration Begins December 20 Annual Pass Holders

Annual pass holders will be allowed to register on Thursday, December 20. Resident annual pass holders will begin registration at 7:00 am and non-resident annual pass holders will follow at 9:00 am. Registration on December 20 can only be submitted by members of your immediate family.

Non-Annual Pass Holders

Registration for non-annual pass holders will begin on Friday, December 21. Residents will begin at 7:00 am, followed by non-residents at 9:00 am.

Residency

ID is required for proof of residency or a nonresident fee will be charged. A resident is an individual living in or owning real estate within the boundaries of the Oregon Park District. All Oregon School District students participating in youth team sports are considered residents.

Fees

Fees must be paid at the time of registration by cash, check, or credit card. The first fee listed is the rate for Oregon Park District residents. The second fee is for non-residents. No registrations or rentals will be accepted without the proper payment.

Class Changes

The Oregon Park District may cancel, postpone, combine classes, or change instructors. Classes may be cancelled due to insufficient enrollment and refunds will be issued. All participants will be notified of any scheduling changes or cancellations.

Waiver Policy

The Oregon Park District requires all class participants and pass holders to sign a waiver release form. Waivers will be signed and kept on file at Nash Recreation Center. Your registration is not considered complete until a signed waiver is on file.

The Oregon Park District website includes information about programs and classes, parks, facilities, employment opportunities, and more. Visit us online for updates. Program Refund Policy - A full refund will be issued if the Park District reschedules or cancels a class. - To withdraw from a program, a refund application must be completed. - An administrative fee of $5.00 shall be deducted from the amount of a refund to offset the cost of processing the refund. A full refund, less the fee, will be granted if the application for refund is filed with the office at least ten days prior to the scheduled start of the program/activity. - Refunds will not be granted after the registration deadline. - All program refunds are subject to the program coordinator’s approval. - Refunds will not be approved on Park District passes. Passes/cards are non-transferable.

Please remember to include a check or Visa/MasterCard number and expiration date. The Park District is not responsible for mail-in registrations not received. Racquetball court rental is included in the annual pass fee and is $3.00/hour for non-annual pass holders. Wallyball court rental is $5.00/hour.

This is a convenient way to pay for your pass and selected programs. The automatic debit monthly fees are shown above. With your permission, automatic credit card charges will be made each month. The first amount is the initial payment that will be made when registering, followed by the amount of 10 equal payments to be charged on the 15th of each month.

$1.00 Sundays at Nash! The daily fee for everyone is only $1.00.

Gift certificates are available for passes as well as our many programs. For more information, inquire at Nash.

Groups of 15 or more will receive a 10% discount on daily fees if reservations are made at least 10 days in advance. Contact the Oregon Park District for reservation information and details about areas that would best suit your needs.

The Nash Fitness Center is over 6,000 square feet and features a three lane rubberized track that surrounds our CYBEX strength training machines, free weights, and cardiovascular equipment. Our friendly Fitness Center staff is available to set up an orientation for any and all users looking to begin a fitness routine.

A Nash Recreation Center pass or daily fee allows patrons to use the pool and whirlpool (during scheduled hours), gym, and Fitness Center.

Corporate Memberships

The Oregon Park District offers four corporate membership options for resident and non-resident companies. For more information call (815)732-3101.

Lockers

The Oregon Park District has lockers available for rental to annual pass holders for the term of the pass. The resident fee is $60.00 and non-resident fee is $75.00.

Mt. Morris Village Residents

Mt. Morris Village residents can register for all programs, memberships, facility rentals, and daily fees at the Oregon Park District resident rate. Additional non-resident fees are subsidized by the Village of Mt. Morris.

Age Restrictions

Children under the age of 5 are welcome to use the gym and pool area free of charge but must be accompanied by a parent or responsible person, 11 years or older. Participants must be 7th grade or older to use the Nash Fitness Center and 9th grade or older to use the free weights.

Health Clearance

All users are asked to fill out a health history form. Anyone with prior health problems may be asked to obtain a doctor’s release before being permitted to work out. All health forms and doctor’s clearance forms are kept confidential.

Nash Recreation Center Pool

The Nash pool features stairs to a 3 foot bay area attached to a 25 meter 6 lane pool. The deepest area is 10 feet. The pool is equipped with a new handicap chair lift to assist patrons in and out of the pool. After your workout you can enjoy the 13 person hot tub with both high and low jets.

Multi-Use Swim

Multi-use swim is open to all ages, however, children are to be accompanied by an adult. Patrons may swim laps, play in the bay area, water jog in the deep end, or enjoy time in the hot tub. Swim lessons are scheduled during this time and will have first priority for pool use. Please be aware that areas of the pool may not be available.

Open Swim

All areas of the pool are open for use, including our diving board and basketball hoop. Pool toys are allowed in the pool at the discretion of the aquatic staff.

Lap Swim

Six lap lanes will be available for swimmers 7th grade or older. Swimming 32 laps is a one mile workout.

Hot Tub Hours

The hot tub is available for use during lap swim, open swim, and multi-use swim. The hot tub can also be used during swim lessons, water aerobics, and twinges classes. You must be in high school or older to use the hot tub.

The focus of Starbabies is to help very young children become comfortable in the water while also teaching the parent or caregiver the importance of water safety. StarGuard Class

Ages 16 years & Up

StarGuard is a nationally recognized lifeguard training program that teaches the skills needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies. Candidates will receive hands-on training with actual equipment and realistic situations. Upon completion of a skills test and written test, participants will receive a certification in lifeguarding, First Aid, CPR/AED for the professional rescuer, and prevention of disease transmission. Attendance is mandatory and you must be 16 years of age upon completion of the course. Students are required to pass a water test on the first day of class and will not be allowed to continue the course without passing.

This is the non-contact cardio kickboxing workout that you have been waiting for! The class will lead you through kicks, punches, lunges, and aerobic moves in order to maximize calorie burn. Kettlebell Fitness

Both men and women are invited to join this challenging non-stop workout! Originating in Russia, a kettlebell is a centuriesold training tool that looks like a cannonball with a handle. Kettlebell training is different than other forms of weight training because many parts of the body are exercised simultaneously. In addition, kettlebell training elevates the heart rate for effective cardiovascular training. Registration for the 2013-2014 school year will begin on Thursday, February 21, 2013. Residents may register beginning at 7:00 am and non-residents may register at 9:00 am. Numbers will be handed out when the building opens at 5:30 am. Warrior Spirit

Every country and culture has stories of famous warriors who underwent physical training to find their warrior spirit. Boys and girls are invited to work together in a one hour long class once a week. The class will involve using empty hand and weapon martial arts moves as well as physical conditioning exercises to manifest their own warrior spirit. Participants should wear comfortable workout clothes and bring a three foot long wooden dowel rod which is three-quarter to one inch in diameter. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Build-A-Birdhouse Contest

We invite you to enter the Oregon Park District Build-A-Birdhouse Contest which is open to non-professional artists and woodworkers of all ages. The contest is another way to involve the community in the aesthetics of the Oregon Parks. If you enjoy birds, woodworking, friendly competition, and need a fun winter/spring project, this contest is for you. Design your own birdhouse or create one from an existing pattern. Cut and assemble your house and embellish it if you choose. Specific contest rules and entry forms are available at Nash or at www.oregonpark.org. Entries are due by April 1. Judging will take place the week of April 15, 2013. Bird houses will be on display at Nash and at Merlin’s Spring Open House.

PARC Grant The Oregon Park District has been awarded a 1.5 Million Dollar Park and Recreational Facility Construction Grant (PARC Grant). The Park District was one of 22 recipients out of 265 grant seekers. The Illinois Department of Natural Resources administers the 50 Million Dollar grant program. The Park District is working with the Farnsworth Group to develop the renovation plans for the Nash Recreation Center. The improvement will help make Nash a sustainable recreation center for the future. Major improvements include the implementation of a new roofing system, roof-top solar installation, upgrades to the pool area, and building HVAC systems. Look for construction to start in mid 2013!

Oregon Park District Party Rentals Party Like A Sports Star

If you want to have a fun-filled sports party, then this is definitely the party you want to throw! Your party will take place at the Blackhawk Center. It will include two hours of sports where you can hit baseballs/softballs in the batting cages, play badminton, and play tennis. You can even play basketball where our Oregon teams play. Wii Gaming Party

Have your next group outing or birthday party at the Oregon Park District! Up to 15 guests will enjoy our Wii interactive virtual video games that you control by running, kicking, throwing, or jumping. One of our gaming instructors will serve as your virtual guide and host. An array of games will be provided or you can bring your own. Parties must be booked at least two weeks in advance and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Space will be available for refreshments and opening presents. The fee includes room rental for two hours, use of the Wii gaming system, and daily fees for up to 15 people. Fee: $60/ $70 NR

Celebrate your event with the Nash Recreation Center pool all to yourself! These parties occur after the facility has been closed to the general public and pass holders. The fee includes River Room rental for food and drinks. Fee: $80/$96 NR per hour up to 50 guests $100/$120 NR per hour 50-100 guests

If you log 1,000 miles in our Fitness Center by the end of October, 2013, you will receive an Elite Pacers Club t-shirt. After your workout, simply fill out one of our Pacers Club cards and drop it in the box. We will then enter your workout information into our computer. All miles and/or time will be converted into bike miles. The totals will be posted every Monday. If you are a new member, please ask the fitness supervisor on duty and they will explain how to record your miles.

Donate a tree in memory of a loved one. You can choose the type of tree and park location. Contact the Park District for more information about this program.

Lost & Found

The Oregon Park District and/or professional photographers under contract may videotape or take photographs of participants in Park District activities, classes, programs, or parks. These photographs and videotapes are used for future recreation guides, brochures, Facebook, and other marketing materials.

Scholarship Program

The Oregon Park District believes that every child should have an opportunity to participate in recreational programs regardless of financial hardship. For this reason, the Oregon Park District offers scholarships to Park District residents for reduced program rates according to financial need. Application forms are available at Nash Recreation Center or online at www.oregonpark.org. Applicants for scholarships are not guaranteed program registration or choice of program location. Scholarship fund availability cannot be guaranteed.

Would you like to go fishing but lack the equipment? The Oregon Park District has partnered with Rock River Outfitters to offer sport fishing equipment through the IDNR. Fishing rods, reels, and tackle are available to borrow at Rock River Outfitters, 114 N. River Road, Oregon.

Night Fishing Permits

You can now fish at night in Oregon Park District Parks by purchasing a required Night Fishing Permit. Permits are available at Nash for $20.00 and are valid thru 12/31/13.

‘Wiggly Field’ Dog Park

Officially opened in July 2012, Wiggly Field Dog Park is the first off-leash dog park operated by the Oregon Park District. The dog park is a 1 acre fenced off-leash area with two separate entrances and exits for safety. The first area is an open running area and the second is an agility training area. The park offers water fountains for people and dogs. Wiggly Field off-leash dog park is open seven days a week from dawn until dusk. Agility equipment will be removed during the winter months. We ask all owners to have fun, but be responsible. All users and dogs must have a permit. Please stop by Nash Recreation Center to get a permit and receive the rules and regulations.

Oregon Coliseum

The City of Oregon has partnered with the Oregon Park District for management purposes of the Oregon Coliseum. The Oregon Park District is excited to offer an additional rental facility to the community that will be accompanied by the same great service our patrons are accustomed to. The facility will be host to many Oregon Park District activities and events and will be available to patrons for family reunions, special meetings, wedding receptions, and other gatherings. There are 10 geocaches strategically placed within and near the Oregon Park District’s parks and facilities. Enjoy learning and taking in the beauty of these destinations while on your real life treasure hunt for geocaches!
