The Oregon Park District now offers a sibling discount of 10% off the regular fee for each additional child enrolled in a program where one child has already enrolled at full price in the same session. The discount can only be applied by registering at Nash or over the phone.

Fall/Winter Registration begins August 28 Annual Pass Holders

Annual pass holders will be allowed to register on Thursday, August 27. Resident annual pass holders will begin registration at 7:00 am and non-resident annual pass holders will follow at 9:00 am. Registration on August 27 can only be submitted by members of your immediate family.

Non-Annual Pass Holders

Registration for non-annual pass holders will begin on Friday, August 28. Residents will begin at 7:00 am, followed by non-residents at 9:00 am.

Residency

ID is required for proof of residency or a nonresident fee will be charged. A resident is an individual living in or owning real estate within the boundaries of the Oregon Park District. All Oregon School District students participating in youth team sports are considered residents.

Fees

Fees must be paid at the time of registration by cash, check, or credit card. The first fee listed is the rate for Oregon Park District residents. The second fee is for non-residents. No registrations or rentals will be accepted without the proper payment.

Class Changes

The Oregon Park District may cancel, postpone, combine classes, or change instructors. Classes may be cancelled due to insufficient enrollment and refunds will be issued. All participants will be notified of any scheduling changes or cancellations.

Waiver Policy

The Oregon Park District requires all class participants and pass holders to sign a waiver release form. Waivers will be signed and kept on file at Nash Recreation Center. Your registration is not considered complete until a signed waiver is on file.

Program Refund Policy * A full refund will be issued if the Park District reschedules or cancels a class. * To withdraw from a program, a refund application must be completed. * An administrative fee of $5.00 shall be deducted from the amount of a refund to offset the cost of processing the refund.

A full refund, less the fee, will be granted if the application for refund is filed with the office at least ten days prior to the scheduled start of the program/activity. * Refunds will not be granted after the registration deadline. * All program refunds are subject to the program coordinator’s approval. * Refunds will not be approved on Park District passes.

Passes/cards are non-transferable.

A Nash Recreation Center pass or daily fee allows patrons to use the pool and whirlpool, gym, and Fitness Center.

Racquetball & Wallyball

Racquetball court rental is included in the annual pass fee and is $3.00/hour for non-annual pass holders. Wallyball court rental is $5.00/hour.

Nash Fitness Center

The Nash Fitness Center is over 6,000 square feet and features a three lane rubberized track that surrounds our NEW CYBEX strength training machines, free weights, and cardiovascular equipment. Our friendly Fitness Center staff is available to set up an orientation for any and all users looking to begin a fitness routine.

Automatic Monthly Payment

This is a convenient way to pay for your pass and selected programs. The automatic debit monthly fees are shown above. With your permission, automatic credit card charges will be made each month. The first amount is the initial payment that will be made when registering, followed by the amount of 10 equal payments to be charged on the 15th of each month.

3 Pay Payment Plan

Your annual pass is paid off in three equal consecutive payments! The pass fee is paid on the 15th of month, for the first three months, and is only available on annual passes.

Age Restrictions

Children under the age of 5 are welcome to use the gym and pool area free of charge but must be accompanied by a Group Reservations parent or responsible person, 11 years or older. Nash Recreation Center Pool

The Nash pool features stairs to a 3 foot bay area attached to a 25 meter 6 lane pool. The deepest area is 10 feet. The pool is equipped with a handicap chair lift to assist patrons in and out of the pool. After your workout you can enjoy the 13 person hot tub with both high and low jets.

Multi-Use Swim

Multi-use swim is open to all ages, however, children are to be accompanied by an adult.

Patrons may swim laps, play in the bay area, water jog in the deep end, or enjoy time in the hot tub. The diving board is closed during this time. Swim lessons scheduled during this time will have first priority for pool use. Please be aware that areas of the pool may not be available.

Open Swim

All areas of the pool are open for use, including our diving board and basketball hoop. Pool toys are allowed in the pool at the discretion of the aquatic staff.

Lap Swim

Six lap lanes will be available for swimmers 7th grade or older. Swimming 32 laps is a one mile workout.

Water Aerobics Classes

No patrons will be allowed to use the pool while class is in session. Special needs provisions can be made on an individual basis for use of the bay area. For more information see the Pool Manager.

Hot Tub Hours

The hot tub is available for use during lap swim, open swim, and multi-use swim. The hot tub can also be used during swim lessons, water aerobics, and twinges classes. The hot tub is equipped with a handicap chair lift to assit patrons in and out of the spa. You must be at least 16 years old to use the hot tub.

Create Fun for a Lifetime ’” Starbabies Ages 6 months - 3 years Private Swim Lessons The focus of Starbabies is to help very young children Ages 3 years & Up become comfortable in the water while also teaching the parent or caregiver the importance of water safety.

This class does not teach the child how to become an accomplished swimmer or to survive in the water. One parent or caregiver must be in the water for each child.

Fee: $35/ $42 NR

Private lessons are 30 minutes of one-on-one instruction.

Students may choose to focus on specific skills or work on all skills required to pass a swimming level. The number of lessons are up to you and are scheduled by the Health Activities Coordinator.

5 Pass Visit Deep Water Aerobics is a more intense workout than your typical water 10 Pass Visit aerobics class. Working out in the deep end will allow you to get an intense 15 Pass Visit cardiovascular workout without the impact. You will also increase your endurance, flexibility, and strength. Hawk Wrestling Takedown & Turn Camp Grades 2nd - 8th

Hawk Wrestling Club

Hawk Wrestling is an IKWF program for wrestlers of all skill levels. It is run by coaches affiliated with the OHS wrestling program. The program promotes the sport of wrestling to the youth in the community and provides a great experience in the process. Hawk Red is a competitive program that expands beyond the basics. Hawk Blue was established for beginners that are interested in the basic techniques. Practices are held at the OHS wrestling room. Power Up Volleyball Club All Students

Power Up Volleyball Club is a USA Volleyball Registered program that started in 2010 to help serve the growing interest in volleyball in northwest Illinois for grades 5th-10th. Our mission is to provide quality training and competition experience while staying local and keeping costs manageable. Power Up promotes a positive learning environment for all participants.

All coaches are IMPACT trained and certified. Multi-sport athletes are welcome and will not be penalized for missing volleyball to attend their school sporting event if a scheduling conflict arises. Practices are typically scheduled for Wednesdays and Sundays, but may include some Fridays. Tournaments take place on Sundays, and each age division will have 5 total tournaments. The season runs from mid-December to early April. The season will tentatively start Sunday December 13th. Registration fees cover gym rental, coaches’ compensation, uniform tops, and tournament entry fees.

The registration fee does not cover a mandatory $50 that goes to the USA Volleyball Organization for player insurance at practices and events. Registration closes December 8th. Oregon Park District Tutoring Center Grades 1st - 4th

The Tutoring Center will provide one-on-one instruction for Math skill review and development. Customized lesson plans targeting specific skills for each child will be used while accomodating each child’s learning style. You, along with your child’s tutor, will determine the number of sessions primarily based on skill development and mastery.

Dog Training Classes @ Wiggly Field Obedience/Agility Ages 18 years & Up

Pat Mandernach from Maestoso Kennels has joined the Oregon Park District to teach positive obedience and agility training. Each class will include basic obedience behavior training, problem solving, retrieving, agility and the ability to comfortably introduce your pet to new people and dogs.

Please bring treats, a 4 ft. or 6 ft. leash, and a collar for your dog to each class. You must obtain a Wiggly Field dog permit prior to the first class. You can register for this at Nash. Come join the Oregon Road Riders bicycling group this Fall for a weekly 18 mile cycling adventure around Oregon’s local paved roads. Maple Syrup Season!

In late February stop by the Garden Barn and learn the process by which maple syrup is made. Individuals are welcome to help or sit and watch the process. Maple Syrup Volunteers Are Needed!!! Calling all local volunteers who might be interested in helping with the 2016 Maple Syrup project! Volunteers will be needed from late February to early April to assist with taping trees, hanging pails, checking pails daily, stacking wood, stirring syrup and bottling the syrup.

It’s Apple Cider time!!! Bring your own apples and containers and learn how to operate a vintage apple press or press our apples for your very own gallon of cider to enjoy. Learn how to build a cold frame to grow fall and early winter vegetables in your own backyard. You will help build a cold frame from start to finish. Halloween Carnivals*

Put on your Halloween costume and come to Nash for the annual Halloween Carnival celebration. Try your hand at many games and win candy and prizes. Howl’oween Canine Costume Contest*

Families and their four-legged friends will enjoy the 4th Annual Wiggly Field Howl’oween Canine Costume Contest.

Bring your pooch dressed in their Halloween costume for the doggie parade at 5:30 p.m. Judging will follow with awards to the winning canines and a Howl’oween treat for all participating pooches. Categories for judging include: Best Purchased Costume, Best Homemade Costume, Best Group (multiple dogs or pet/person costumes). Get your photo taken with your pooch at the Haunted Howl’oween Cemetery to commemorate the fun evening.

Build-A-Birdhouse Contest

If you enjoy birds, woodworking, friendly competition and need a fun winter project, this contest is for you. Design your own birdhouse or create one from an existing pattern. Cut and assemble your house and embellish if you choose. Specific Contest Rules are available at Nash Recreation Center or at www.oregonpark.org. Judging will take place in the spring and the bird houses will be on display at Nash and at Merlin’s Spring Open House. Some houses may be chosen by the OPD Parks Department to be on display and for use in the parks. Houses can be dropped off at Nash between March 30-April 4.

HOLIDAY LIGHTS CONTEST

Enter your family’s home or a friend’s, neighbor’s, co-worker’s home in the 7th Annual Holiday Lights Home Decorating Contest. Any home with an Oregon address is eligible for this contest. Simply decorate and light up your home. Complete an entry form and you will be entered to win this year’s grand prize. 1st place will receive a Quarterly Family Membership to the Nash Recreation Center. Judges will be out the week of December 7th.

The winner will be announced on Wednesday, December 16. There is no entry fee, but you must submit an entry form by Dec 7.

Candlelight Walk Holiday Gift Fair

The 6th annual Holiday Gift Fair is one of the many attractions you won’t want to miss during this year’s Candlelight Walk. The Gift Fair, located at the Oregon Coliseum, is home to entertaiment, food, and of course, a convenient holiday “shopping sampler” all under one roof. Letters to Santa

Do you have a wish list or a story to tell Santa? Write a letter to jolly old St. Nick and tell him about yourself and if you have been naughty or nice. Santa’s elves will be installing a mailbox at Nash for your letter to be mailed. Be sure to enclose a .49 cent stamp and your return address! Letters can be mailed beginning Nov 11 and the mail stops heading to the North Pole on December 15.

Breakfast with Santa

Come to Nash in casual or holiday dress for a yummy light breakfast with Santa. Enjoy time socializing with friends in a holiday atmosphere. Fill your tummy with donuts, muffins, fruit, yogurt, bagels, juice and more. Children should be accompanied by at least one parent, but the whole family is invited to attend. Take time to sit on Santa’s lap and share your holiday wishes. Each child will have the opportunity to make an ornament for their tree. We encourage you to bring your camera. Parents should also register if they plan on enjoying breakfast. Children under 2 are FREE but must be registered.

Don’t miss the NIU Huskies as they take on Ball State at Huskir Stadium on Saturday, October 10. Chestnut Mountain Ski Trip Grades 6th & Up

It’s time to hit the slopes for a day of fun with friends and family in the snow!! Geared toward all levels of skiers and snowboarders, Chestnut Mountain in Galena, IL, is the place to be with its 19 beautiful trails & a 7-acre terrain park featuring half-pipes, quarter-pipes, tabletops & over 25 rails. You won’t want to miss this adventure!! There is no school, so students will enjoy this getaway. The trip price does not include meals. Bring family and friends to celebrate a special occasion or to just have fun at the Nash Recreation Center. The fee includes a party room for one hour and daily pool fee for up to 25 people. Each additional guest is $2.

If you want to have a fun-filled sports party, then this is definitely the party you want to throw! Your party will take place at the Blackhawk Center. The room that you will be in also has a refrigerator for your food and beverages.

‘Wiggly Field’ Dog Park

Officially opened in July 2012, Wiggly Field Dog Park is the first off-leash dog park operated by the Oregon Park District. The dog park is a 1 acre fenced off-leash area with two separate entrances and exits for safety. The first area is an open running area and the second is an agility training area. The park offers water fountains for people and dogs. Wiggly Field offleash dog park is open seven days a week from dawn until dusk. Agility equipment will be removed during the winter months and brought back in the spring.

We ask all owners to have fun, but be responsible.

All users and dogs must have a permit. Please stop by Nash Recreation Center to get a permit and receive the rules and regulations.

Proof of rabies vaccination is required upon registering.

Geocaching (geo-cashing) is an environmentally friendly outdoor recreational activity for families and individuals alike. This outdoor treasure hunting game involves searching for hidden objects using clues and GPS (global positioning system) coordinates. There are 10 geocaches strategically placed within and near the Oregon Park District’s parks and facilities. Enjoy learning and taking in the beauty of these destinations while on your real life treasure hunt for geocaches! You will need a www.geocaching.com membership, a GPS device or a GPS-enabled mobile phone so you can navigate to a cache, a pen or pencil to sign the cache log, and you may want to bring an exchangeable treasure! Park District. The Ruby Nash Museum contains many Ogle County historical collections including artifacts, books, maps, and photos. The Museum is open for tours on Thursdays from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm (year round) and on Sundays from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm (April - October).

Elite Pacers Club

If you log 1,000 miles in our Fitness Center by the end of October, each year, you will receive an Elite Pacers Club t-shirt. After your workout, simply fill out one of our Pacers Club cards and drop it in the box. We will then enter your workout information into our computer. All miles and/or time will be converted into bike miles. The totals will be posted every Monday.

If you are a new member, please ask the fitness supervisor on duty and they will explain how to record your miles.

Blood Pressure Monitor

The Park District offers a free blood pressure and heart rate monitor in our fitness center. It is a fully automatic selfattended monitor. Be heart healthy and happy ~ know your blood pressure!

Lost and found articles are kept a maximum of 60 days and then donated to charitable organizations.

Scholarship Program

The Oregon Park District believes that every child should have an opportunity to participate in recreational programs regardless of financial hardship.

For this reason, the Oregon Park District offers scholarships to Park District residents for reduced program rates according to financial need. Bird Walk

Enjoy a scenic walk through the parks while enjoying nature’s winged friends. Each bird location features a bird habitat structure that simulates the bird’s natural habitat. Pick up your guide at Nash Recreation Center.

Photo Policy

The Oregon Park District and/or professional photographers under contract may videotape or take photographs of participants in Park District activities, classes, programs, or parks. These photographs and videotapes are used for future recreation guides, brochures, Facebook, and other marketing materials.

FREE Rental Of Fishing Equipment

Would you like to go fishing but lack the equipment?

The Oregon Park District has partnered with Rock River Outfitters to offer sport fishing equipment through the IDNR. Fishing rods, reels, and tackle are available to borrow at Rock River Outfitters, 114 N. River Road, Oregon.

Night Fishing Permits

You can now fish at night in Oregon Park District Parks by purchasing a required Night Fishing Permit.

Permits are available at Nash for $20.00 and are valid thru the end of the calendar year.
