Monthly Billing

Sibling Discount

The Oregon Park District now offers a sibling discount of 10% off the regular fee for each additional child enrolled in a program where one child has already enrolled at full price in the same session. The discount can only be applied by registering at Nash or over the phone.

Activity Guide Release

The Oregon Park District will now issue 2 digital activity guides each year. Our program guide for Fall/Winter will be released in August, while our Spring/Summer guide will be released in February. The full Oregon Park District Activity Guide will be available on the District’s website at www.oregonpark.org.

Since 2008, the Oregon Park District has been recognized as an Illinois Association of Park Districts and Illinois Park and Recreation Association Distinguished Accredited Agency, the highest award a Parks and Recreation Agency can receive in Illinois.

Fall/Winter Registration begins August 29 Annual Pass Holders

Annual pass holders will be allowed to register on Thursday, August 28. Resident annual pass holders will begin registration at 7:00 am and non-resident annual pass holders will follow at 9:00 am. Registration on August 28 can only be submitted by members of your immediate family.

Non-Annual Pass Holders

Registration for non-annual pass holders will begin on Friday, August 29. Residents will begin at 7:00 am, followed by non-residents at 9:00 am.

Residency

ID is required for proof of residency or a nonresident fee will be charged. A resident is an individual living in or owning real estate within the boundaries of the Oregon Park District. All Oregon School District students participating in youth team sports are considered residents.

Fees

Fees must be paid at the time of registration by cash, check, or credit card. The first fee listed is the rate for Oregon Park District residents. The second fee is for non-residents. No registrations or rentals will be accepted without the proper payment.

Class Changes

The Oregon Park District may cancel, postpone, combine classes, or change instructors. Classes may be cancelled due to insufficient enrollment and refunds will be issued. All participants will be notified of any scheduling changes or cancellations.

Waiver Policy

The Oregon Park District requires all class participants and pass holders to sign a waiver release form. Waivers will be signed and kept on file at Nash Recreation Center. Your registration is not considered complete until a signed waiver is on file.

Program Refund Policy * A full refund will be issued if the Park District reschedules or cancels a class. * To withdraw from a program, a refund application must be completed. * An administrative fee of $5.00 shall be deducted from the amount of a refund to offset the cost of processing the refund. A full refund, less the fee, will be granted if the application for refund is filed with the office at least ten days prior to the scheduled start of the program/activity. * Refunds will not be granted after the registration deadline. * All program refunds are subject to the program coordinator’s approval. * Refunds will not be approved on Park District passes.

Passes/cards are non-transferable.

Online Registration – Visit us at www.oregonpark.org to sign up for an online ID and register for any of our activities over the web. Online registrations will be accepted starting Saturday, August 30.

Mail-in Registration – Send your payment and signed registration form to Oregon Park District, P.O. Box 237, Oregon, IL, 61061. Please remember to include a check or Visa/MasterCard number and expiration date. The Park District is not responsible for mail-in registrations not received.

Fax-in Registration – Fax a signed registration form to (815)732-3736. Please remember to include a Visa/MasterCard number and expiration date. Fax registrations will be accepted starting Saturday, August 30, at 9:00 am.

A Nash Recreation Center pass or daily fee allows patrons to use the pool and whirlpool, gym, and Fitness Center.

Racquetball & Wallyball

Racquetball court rental is included in the annual pass fee and is $3.00/hour for non-annual pass holders. Wallyball court rental is $5.00/hour.

Nash Fitness Center

The Nash Fitness Center is over 6,000 square feet and features a three lane rubberized track that surrounds our CYBEX strength training machines, free weights, and cardiovascular equipment. Our friendly Fitness Center staff is available to set up an orientation for any and all users looking to begin a fitness routine.

Automatic Monthly Payment

This is a convenient way to pay for your pass and selected programs. The automatic debit monthly fees are shown above. With your permission, automatic credit card charges will be made each month. The first amount is the initial payment that will be made when registering, followed by the amount of 10 equal payments to be charged on the 15th of each month.

3 Pay Payment Plan

Your annual pass is paid off in three equal consecutive payments! The pass fee is paid on the 15th of month, for the first three months, and is only available on annual passes.

Age Restrictions

Children under the age of 5 are welcome to use the gym and pool area free of charge but must be accompanied by a Group Reservations parent or responsible person, 11 years or older. Participants Groups of 15 or more will receive a 10% discount on daily must be 7th grade or older to use the Nash Fitness Center and fees if reservations are made at least 10 days in advance.

Nash Recreation Center Pool Pool

The Nash pool features stairs to a 3 foot bay area attached to a 25 meter 6 lane pool.

The deepest area is 10 feet. The pool is equipped with a new handicap chair lift to assist patrons in and out of the pool. After your workout you can enjoy the 13 person hot tub with both high and low jets.

Multi-Use Swim

Multi-use swim is open to all ages, however, children are to be accompanied by an adult.

Patrons may swim laps, play in the bay area, water jog in the deep end, or enjoy time in the hot tub. Swim lessons are scheduled during this time and will have first priority for pool use. Please be aware that areas of the pool may not be available.

Open Swim

All areas of the pool are open for use, including our diving board and basketball hoop.

Pool toys are allowed in the pool at the discretion of the aquatic staff.

Lap Swim

Six lap lanes will be available for swimmers 7th grade or older. Swimming 32 laps is a one mile workout.

Hot Tub Hours

The hot tub is available for use during lap swim, open swim, and multi-use swim. The hot tub can also be used during swim lessons, water aerobics, and twinges classes. The hot tub is equipped with a new handicap chair lift to assit patrons in and out of the spa.

You must be at least 16 years old to use the hot tub.

Starbabies Ages 6 months - 3 years

The focus of Starbabies is to help very young children become comfortable in the water while also teaching the parent or caregiver the importance of water safety.

This class does not teach the child how to become an accomplished swimmer or to survive in the water. One parent or caregiver must be in the water for each child.

Private lessons are 30 minutes of one-on-one instruction.

Students may choose to focus on specific skills or work on all skills required to pass a swimming level. The number of lessons are up to you and are scheduled by the Health Activities Coordinator.

StarGuard Class Ages 16 years & Up

StarGuard is a nationally recognized lifeguard training program that teaches the skills needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies. Candidates will receive hands-on training with actual equipment and realistic situations. Upon completion of a skills test and written test, participants will receive a certification in lifeguarding, First Aid, CPR/AED for the professional rescuer, and prevention of disease transmission. Attendance is mandatory and you must be 16 years of age upon completion of the course. Students are required to pass a water test on the first day of class and will not be allowed to continue the course without passing. Exercise your entire body without putting stress on your back and joints. This class will work on toning, cardiovascular strength, endurance, and flexibility.

Kettlebell Fitness with Lana Ages 18 years & Up

Both men and women are invited to join this challenging non-stop workout! Originating in Russia, a kettlebell is a centuriesold training tool that looks like a cannonball with a handle. Kettlebell training is different than other forms of weight training because many parts of the body are exercised simultaneously. In addition, kettlebell training elevates the heart rate for effective cardiovascular training. Kettlebell training will build long lean muscles, improve strength and power in the upper body, core, and lower body, and increase coordination, joint mobility and overall endurance. You will burn many calories because your heart will be pumping the entire 30 minutes. Classes are held at Nash.

Early Rise Exercise with Aimee Ages 18 years & Up

Join us for a great way to get your morning started and enhance your current health routine. This class is a great cardio workout with power moves and strength training that will keep you active during these cold winter months. Give it a try! Classes are held at the Blackhawk Center. Hawk Wrestling Takedown & Turn Camp Grades 2nd - 8th

Hawk Wrestling Club

Hawk Wrestling is an IKWF program for wrestlers of all skill levels. It is run by coaches affiliated with the OHS wrestling program. The program promotes the sport of wrestling to the youth in the community and provides a great experience in the process. New to the 2014-15 season is the Hawk Red and Hawk Blue program offerings. Hawk Red is a competitive program that expands beyond the basics. Hawk Blue was established for beginners that are interested in the basic techniques. Practices are held at the OHS wrestling room. Included in the Hawk Red program fee is the $40 USA Wrestling Competitor’s Card and $50 for a singlet deposit which will be refunded at the end of the year when the singlet is returned. A copy of the participant’s birth certificate is required at the time of registration for both new and returning participants. Volunteer coaches are needed at both levels. Power Up Volleyball Club All Students

Power Up Volleyball Club is USA Volleyball Registered program that started in 2010 to help serve the growing interest in volleyball in northwest Illinois for grades 5th-10th. Our mission is to provide quality training and competition experience while staying local and keeping costs manageable. Power Up promotes a positive learning environment for all participants.

All coaches are IMPACT trained and certified. Multi-sport athletes are welcome and will not be penalized for missing volleyball to attend their school sporting event if a scheduling conflict arises. Practices are typically scheduled for Wednesdays and Sundays, but may include some Fridays. Tournaments take place on Sundays, and each age division will have 5 total tournaments. The season runs from mid-December to early April. Season will tentatively start Sunday December 14th. Registration fees cover gym rental, coaches’ compensation, uniform tops, and tournament entry fees. The registration fee does not cover a mandatory $50 that goes to the USA Volleyball Organization for player insurance at practices and events. Registration closes December 8th. There will be a mandatory parent meeting/registration night on December 10th at 7:00 at the OHS old gym. Students who have mastered Beginning Tumbling and are ready for the next step will continue to perfect their beginning skills while adding a new set of skills to their workout. Intermediate students will perfect their tumbling skills, including: front handsprings, limbers, front tucks, intro to standing flip flops, and, of course, all the basics learned at the beginning/ novice level. Advanced students will have a fast-paced class, which will include a series of flip flops, front tumbling, whips, and back tucks. Students must complete a roundoff flip flop by themselves or have a teacher recommendation to join the advanced group. Participants must complete the Beginning Tumbling program and be referred to the Intermediate/Advanced Tumbling program.

Registrations for 2014-2015 School Year, which begins September 2nd and 3rd, are currently being taken. Winter Holi-Day Camp Grades Kindergarten - 6th

This year’s Winter HoliDay Camp will be a great place to stay warm during winter break. We will emphasize fun, peer interaction, personal growth, and have great daily games, crafts, and sports. To beat the cold, we will be swimming at Nash each afternoon where it’s always summertime. On Tuesday, December 30, we will have a New Year’s Eve bash to ring in the New Year! It’s winter, there’s snow, and you want to hike. Let’s go out together this season and enjoy the beautiful northern Illinois winter scenery! The Oregon Park District will provide the snowshoes and transportation. Your only requirement is to dress for the weather. This will be a fun activity for all! If you’ve never snowshoed before, or if you’re wanting to learn more, this is the perfect opportunity to learn about the sport and gain experience with the gear and equipment.

We will cover a new trail each Saturday. On February 14 the Park District will be hosting a geocache event. You must register separately and secretly. Dog Training Classes @ Wiggly Field - Obedience/Agility Ages 18 years & Up

Pat Mandernach from Maestoso Kennels has joined the Oregon Park District to teach positive obedience and agility training. Each class will include basic obedience behavior training, problem solving, retrieving, the ability to comfortably introduce your dog to new people and dogs, and agility. Please bring treats, a 4 ft. or 6 ft. leash, and a collar for your dog to each class.

You must obtain a Wiggly Field dog permit prior to the first class. You can register for this at Nash. If the trainer is under the age of 18, a guardian must accompany the trainer throughout the entirety of training. All classes will be held at Wiggly Field in Veteran’s Park. In the case of inclement weather, classes will be moved to Maestoso Kennels’ indoor facility.

Maple Syrup Season!

In late February stop by the Garden Barn and learn the process by which maple syrup is made. Individuals are welcome to help or sit and watch the process. Maple Syrup Volunteers Are Needed!!! Calling all local volunteers who might be interested in helping with the 2015 Maple Syrup project! Volunteers will be needed from late February to early April to assist with taping trees, hanging pails, checking pails daily, stacking wood, stirring syrup and bottling the syrup.

Visit one of the largest small-bird banding operations in the country during the fall bird migration. The Sand Bluff Bird Observatory in Durand, IL has been in operation since 1960. Between 4,000 and 6,000 birds are banded each year entirely by volunteers. This is your chance to see the process in which these elusive birds are captured, analyzed, recorded, banned and then finally released. See the incredible amount of unusual birds that migrate through northern Illinois. We will be leaving Nash at 6:30 am sharp.

Howl’oween Canine Costume Contest*

Families and their four-legged friends will enjoy the 3rd Annual Wiggly Field Howl’oween Canine Costume Contest.

Bring your pooch dressed in their Halloween Costume for the doggie parade at 5:30 p.m. Judging will follow with awards to the winning canines and a Howl’oween treat for all participating pooches. Categories for judging include: Best Purchased Costume, Best Homemade Costume, Best Group (multiple dogs or pet/person costumes). Build-A-Birdhouse Contest

If you enjoy birds, woodworking, friendly competition and need a fun winter project, this contest is for you. Design your own birdhouse or create one from an existing pattern. Cut and assemble your house and embellish if you choose. Specific Contest Rules are available at Nash Recreation Center or at www.oregonpark.org. Judging will take place in the spring and the bird houses will be on display at Nash and at Merlin’s Spring Open House. Some houses may be chosen by the OPD Parks Department to be on display and for use in the parks. Houses can be dropped off at Nash between April 1st - April 6th.

Enter your family’s home and/or a friend’s, neighbor’s, co-worker’s home in the 6th Annual Holiday Lights Home Decorating Contest. Any home with an Oregon address is eligible for this contest. Simply decorate and light up your home. Complete an entry form and you will be entered to win this year’s grand prize. 1st place will receive an annual family membership to the Nash Recreation Center. Letters can be mailed beginning Nov 11 and the mail stops heading to the North Pole on December 15.

Come to Nash in casual or holiday dress for a yummy light breakfast with Santa. Enjoy time socializing with friends in a holiday atmosphere. Fill your tummy with donuts, muffins, fruit, yogurt, bagels, juice and more. Children should be accompanied by at least one parent, but the whole family is invited to attend. If you want to have a fun-filled sports party, then this is definitely the party you want to throw! Your party will take place at the Blackhawk Center. ‘Wiggly Field’ Dog Park

Officially opened in July 2012, Wiggly Field Dog Park is the first off-leash dog park operated by the Oregon Park District. The dog park is a 1 acre fenced off-leash area with two separate entrances and exits for safety. The first area is an open running area and the second is an agility training area. The park offers water fountains for people and dogs. Wiggly Field off-leash dog park is open seven days a week from dawn until dusk. Agility equipment will be removed during the winter months and brought back in the spring.

We ask all owners to have fun, but be responsible.

All users and dogs must have a permit. Please stop by Nash Recreation Center to get a permit and receive the rules and regulations.

Pickleball

Beginning Monday, October 13th, Nash Recreation Center will be offering open gym Pickleball on Monday and Wednesday mornings from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm.

All players must have a Nash membership or pay a daily fee.

Geocaching (geo-cashing) is an environmentally friendly outdoor recreational activity for families and individuals alike. This outdoor treasure hunting game involves searching for hidden objects using clues and GPS (global positioning system) coordinates. There are 10 geocaches strategically placed within and near the Oregon Park District’s parks and facilities. Enjoy learning and taking in the beauty of these destinations while on your real life treasure hunt for geocaches! You will need a www.geocaching.com membership, a GPS device or a GPS-enabled mobile phone so you can navigate to a cache, a pen or pencil to sign the cache log, and you may want to bring an exchangeable treasure! After your workout, simply fill out one of our Pacers Club cards and drop it in the box. We will then enter your workout information into our computer. All miles and/or time will be converted into bike miles. The totals will be posted every Monday.

If you are a new member, please ask the fitness supervisor on duty and they will explain how to record your miles.

Blood Pressure Monitor

The Park District offers a free blood pressure and heart rate monitor in our fitness center. It is a fully automatic selfattended monitor. Be heart healthy and happy ~ know your blood pressure!

Americans with Disabilities Act

The Oregon Park District is happy to comply with the spirit of the Americans with Disabilities Act. If you need special accommodations (such as an interpreter or physical assistance), please call the Oregon Park District (TDD or Voice) two weeks in advance so that we may make the necessary arrangements for you.

Lost & Found

Lost and found articles are kept a maximum of 60 days and then donated to charitable organizations.

If you think you or a family member may have lost something in one of our parks or facilities, please call or visit Nash Recreation Center.

Scholarship Program

The Oregon Park District believes that every child should have an opportunity to participate in recreational programs regardless of financial hardship.

For this reason, the Oregon Park District offers scholarships to Park District residents for reduced program rates according to financial need. Application forms are available at Nash Recreation Center or online at www.oregonpark.org. Applicants for scholarships are not guaranteed program registration or choice of program location. Scholarship fund availability cannot be guaranteed.

Donate a tree in memory of a loved one. You can choose the type of tree and park location. Contact the Park District for more information about this program.

Enjoy a scenic walk through the parks while enjoying nature’s winged friends. Each bird location features a bird habitat structure that simulates the bird’s natural habitat. Pick up your guide at Nash Recreation Center.

Photo Policy

The Oregon Park District and/or professional photographers under contract may videotape or take photographs of participants in Park District activities, classes, programs, or parks. These photographs and videotapes are used for future recreation guides, brochures, Facebook, and other marketing materials.

FREE Rental Of Fishing Equipment

Would you like to go fishing but lack the equipment?

The Oregon Park District has partnered with Rock River Outfitters to offer sport fishing equipment through the IDNR. Fishing rods, reels, and tackle are available to borrow at Rock River Outfitters, 114 N. River Road, Oregon.

Night Fishing Permits

You can now fish at night in Oregon Park District Parks by purchasing a required Night Fishing Permit.

Permits are available at Nash for $20.00 and are valid thru the end of the calendar year.
