Dear Residents,

The Park District is closely following recommendations from the Governor’s office, CDC and IDPH as it pertains directly to public parks and recreation activities. These recommendations will continue to guide our decisions as a District and aid in development of our program and facility procedures. This is not an ideal situation, but we will continue to identify the safety of our staff and patrons as our number one priority.

Nash Recreation Center is open, and reservations are required for use of all indoor amenities.

We are pleased to announce we will add reservations for the gymnasium in limited quantities beginning September 8th. Reservations for lap swim, the fitness center and gymnasium are limited to individuals who have memberships or a 10-punch pass. These restrictions allow us to control capacity limits, conduct temperature checks upon arrival, and complete contact tracing if necessary.

GENERAL INFO

Fall is just around the corner and normally our parks, programs and facilities would be bustling with activities, leagues, and special events. Soccer season would have begun, and the soccer fields would be filled with kids daily. While these traditional opportunities have been stripped away, we are hopeful we will return to our active program and facility scheduling soon! The struggle continues for each of us, but we encourage everyone to do their part by complying with the Governor’s orders.

Program procedures have also been adjusted to reflect the current IDPH guidelines. While these programs may look different, I encourage you to review the program offerings with the fall guide.

Our staff has been hard at work and are dedicated to continuing to provide services, even if they seem unordinary.

The parks remain open and I invite you to enjoy the many exciting amenities you will find at each of our 11 park sites. The Park West renovation is complete, the Story Walk is open and we are excited to unveil additional park changes in 2021 to several other park sites. Please remember to maintain social distancing while enjoying our parks, playgrounds, and paths.

SIBLING DISCOUNT *FOR SELECT PROGRAMS The Oregon Park District offers a sibling discount of 10% off the regular fee for each additional child enrolled in a program where one child has already enrolled at full price in the same session.

Registration for all siblings must take place at Nash or by phone at the same time in order to receive the discount. All family members must be in the same account to qualify.

OPD FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE The Oregon Park District provides financial assistance in several forms to help families or individuals that are in financial difficulty with program fees, preschool tuition, Extended Time program and Camp Oh-Pea-Dee. Funds are provided through employee-driven fundraising and generous donations through the A. Charles and Lillemor Lawrence Foundation.

Funds are available for anyone residing within the Oregon School District boundaries.

RESIDENCY

MT. MORRIS VILLAGE RESIDENTS Mt. Morris Village residents can register for all programs, memberships, facility rentals and daily fees at the Oregon Park District resident rate. Additional non-resident fees are subsidized by the Village of Mt. Morris.

CLASS CHANGES The Oregon Park District may cancel, postpone, combine classes, or change instructors. Classes may be cancelled due to insufficient enrollment and refunds will be issued. All participants will be notified of any scheduling changes or cancellations.

LOCKERS Shared locker room space is currently limited to registered participants of the pool. All other use is restricted. Annual locker rentals are currently unavailable.

Fees must be paid at the time of registration by cash, check, or credit card. The first fee listed is the rate for Oregon Park District residents. The second fee is for non-residents. No registrations or rentals will be accepted without the proper payment.

3 PAY PAYMENT PLAN Your annual pass is paid off in three equal consecutive payments!

The pass fee is paid for the first three months, and is only available on annual passes.

AUTOMATIC MONTHLY PAYMENT This is a convenient way to pay for your pass and select programs.

The automatic debit monthly fees are shown below. With your permission, automatic credit card charges will be made each month. The first amount is the initial payment that will be made when registering, followed by the amount of 11 equal payments charged each month.

SILVERSNEAKERS & RENEW ACTIVE The Oregon Park District is an approved SilverSneakers and Renew Active location. If you are unsure if you are a member or do not have a membership ID, the front counter staff at Nash can assist in determining your eligibility.

ID is required for proof of residency or a non-resident fee will be charged. A resident is an individual living in or owning real estate within the boundaries of the Oregon Park District. All Oregon School District students participating in youth team sports are considered residents. If registering online, residency must be approved. See page 6.

Save Time! Register Online!

The Oregon Park District recently launched Perfect Mind, a new online registration system. With the new system, the District now offers a user-friendly interface, simple navigation, and customizable features to save you and your family time when registering for District programs and events!

Perfect Mind provides the ability for our users to update account information, view attendance history and future schedule, register for an activity or event, and check on the availability of a shelter or Nash Recreation Center room rental from anywhere with an internet connection.

Not a member yet? Create an Account! Already have an account with your primary email address? Simply login or select ‘Forgot your password’ to re-establish your account. Once you’re in, you can update your household information, payment information, sign up for programs and activities, and reserve shelters.

While the District strives to make your online experience one of the best, please note there are a few account features that are not available online.

All patrons that create their own account will be flagged as a Non-Resident. If you live within the District boundaries and are a Resident, please call Nash Recreation Center at (815) 732-3101 so our Customer Service team can update your account. Once updated, resident rates will be applied for all future online registrations and reservations.

WAIVER POLICY

Nash Recreation Center is currently open to members only due to capacity limits imposed by IDPH. The District will continue to monitor the restrictions and facility usage and determine if we will re-open to all users to continue to restrict use to members.

The Oregon Park District requires all class participants and pass holders to sign a waiver release form. Waivers will be signed and kept on file at Nash Recreation Center. Your registration is not considered complete until a signed waiver is on file. All members are required to complete an updated facility waiver upon registration.

AGE RESTRICTIONS Participants must be 7th grade or older to participate during Lap Swim. Members in highschool or older may use the fitness center.

Participants must be 18 years old to use the TRX Room.

NASH FITNESS CENTER The Nash Fitness Center is over 6,000 square feet and features a three lane rubberized track that surrounds our CYBEX strength training machines, free weights, and cardiovascular equipment.

Reservations are required for use of the fitness center.

TRX ROOM A new addition to the facility includes our TRX room featuring 800 square feet of alternative fitness equipment. Room features 6 TRX stations, kettlebells, weighted ropes, yoga mats, dumbells, tire flip, punching bag, spin bikes, rower, elliptical, air assault treadmill and stairmill. Reservations are required for use of the TRX Room.

RACQUETBALL & WALLEYBALL Racquetball courts are currently closed. Staff will continue to evaluate facility use and Phase 4 guidelines to determine the safest time to re-open the courts.

POOL The pool will be open for lap swim and water aerobics only. See page 8 for the full pool schedule. Reservations are required.

GYMNASIUM The gymnasium is currently closed under Tier 3 mitigiations.

MEMBERSHIP REFUNDS Existing passholders that find the limited facility scheduling cannot accommodate their needs can request a prorated refund online at https://www.oregonpark.org/covid-19-pass-refund-request/.

Members can call (815)732-3101 with any questions.

PROGRAM REFUNDS *A full refund will be issued if the Park District reschedules/cancels a class. *To withdraw from a program, a refund application must be completed by visitng our website and submitting a request. *An administrative fee of $5 shall be deducted from the amount of a refund to offset the cost of processing the refund. A full refund, less the fee, will be granted if the application for refund is filed with the office prior to the registration deadline. *Refunds will not be granted after the deadline. *All program refunds are subject to the program coordinator's approval.

If the program participant exhibits symptoms of COVID-19, as set out by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control, or has come in direct recent contact with an individual exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 and is unable to participate in the program, a full refund will be returned for the registration.

Catch the Wave Swim Club structures the program to provide much more than just swimming lessons. Our curriculum, teacher training, evaluation system, and parent communication are all designed to provide a total Aquatic Education. Our primary technique to achieve water safety is to teach all students to comfortably live in the water. When a student truly learns to live in the water, the strokes come easily. We find that a child enjoys the lessons, the more successful the learning process is. Therefore, our first priority is to create a happy atmosphere.

In Penguin Babies, parent participation is required in the water.

Class focus is on water acclamation, submersion, back floating and independence in the water.

In Advanced, student focus is on advanced freestyle and backstroke training with a strong emphasis on kicking and body position.

In little learners, the student focus is on overcoming anxieties associated with the water and parent separation along with introductory back float techniques.

Elite is considered our pre-team level, the class focus is on swimming efficiency. Students learn how to maintain form through distance training and by coordinating stroke movements properly.

INTERMEDIATE In Intermediate, the student focus is on self-rescue foundations through proper stroke and breathing techniques.

Social Distancing Guidelines • All class stations will be placed a minimum of 6 feet from one another to allow for social distancing.

Stations will be sanitized prior to class and after class.

• Instructor will remain 6 feet from all patrons, at all times.

• Hand sanitizing stations will be available at all programming.

• If you don’t feel good or have a fever, STAY HOME. A refund will be issued for the class or the project from the class will be made available to you.

• Please wear a mask both to and from each class.

Experience three types of yoga in one class. Start with pranayama followed by 20 minutes of heat-producing yin, next a gentle vinyasa, and wrap up your journey with a peaceful yoga nidra resting meditation. This kind of stretch stimulates the deep, connective tissues of the body, affecting not only the physical body, but also energetic aspects of the self. The class ends with Yoga Nidra, or "Yogic Sleep", which is a state of consciousness between waking and sleeping, practiced in a supported supine position induced by a guided meditation. It is excellent class for students looking to advance deeper into their practice of relaxation and meditation. Class is suitable for all levels.

The Earth, like our bodies, breathes with unyielding rhythm and there is no better time to observe this divine truth than during a change of seasons when the breathwave of our planet can be experienced through all the senses. This yearly cycle, mirrored in every breath we take, can help balance the mind, body, and spirit as we transition into a new season. All fitness levels. Bring a friend for $1. WINTER SOLSTICE YOGA-AGES 16+ Solstice means the ascending of the sun from the Latin words sol (sun) and sistere (to stand still). After the winter solstice, the sun begins its ascent as the days become longer and the nights shorter in the perpetual cycle of the seasons. This extended yoga class is designed to help you reconnect with, and honor, the path that you're on. It is a time to reflect on what you've accomplished and consider what you wish to accomplish in the future. This is also a time of lowered energy as we experience the shortest day of the year is filling us with more of the stillness than normal. We use this time to focus on rest, healing, and new beginnings. All fitness levels.

THE LAZYMAN TRIATHLON The Lazyman’s Triathlon is an opportunity for everyone who has ever dreamed of competing in an Triathlon or just looking for a new challenge. In a traditional ultimate triathlon, participants swim 2.4 miles, bike 112 miles and run 26.2 miles in 1 day! You have 6 weeks beginning August 31 and running through October 4 to complete the requirements. That’s 42 days to swim, bike, run at any pace that you choose. You can also substitute activities to fit your individual needs. Everyone who has the courage to register will receive a T-shirt at the conclusion of the Lazyman Triathlon program. You will receive a logging sheet via email the Friday before the event kicks off!

This Basketball Skills & Drills session will keep your player on top of their game. The focus will be on improving skills through practices and intra-team scrimmages. Youth basketball players will develop their fundamentals and team playing strategies through a 1 hour practice and a scrimmage every week while adhering to current Covid-19 safety guidelines for youth sports. Masks must be worn and there will be no officiated competitive games against other teams.

16" Softball, sometimes referred to as slow pitch softball, was created in Chicago in 1887. The large ball helped where space was limited in the city as it restricted flight. Because of the 'softness' of the ball, no glove is needed to play. Join us this fall as we play a High School Co-Ed League on Friday evenings. A sanitation station will be onsite, and players must bring their own bats. Balls will be cleaned frequently, and teams will social distance on bleachers. CHILDREN CENTER 3-YEAR-OLD Learning through play is a child’s principle means of discovering his/her world. During this two hour program the children are offered opportunities to develop social skills such as sharing, taking turns, and caring for others. Students will come directly from in-school learning at 1:15pm to the ET location at the Blackhawk Center and we will have our packed lunches outdoors at a 6 foot distance. After cleaning up from lunch, we will have a short introduction to our purpose and goal, children will have the opportunity to experiment with the provided materials along with their peers to have meaningful and educated conversations. This outdoor treasure hunting game involves searching for hidden objects using clues and GPS (global positioning system) coordinates. There are 7 geocaches strategically placed within and near the Oregon Park District’s parks.

Enjoy Bingo on Mondays in September at Oregon Park West Lower Shelter.

The game of Bingo is enjoyed by all ages. Not only is it fun, but participants have the chance to win small prizes as well. We do social distance at Bingo and so we ask that one person in your party signs up for a table. You can bring additional family/friends that you feel comfortable with to your table. Tables are 6' apart. Bingo cards can be purchased on site for $1.00 per sheet (2 cards).

Bring your own dauber or purchase one for $1.00 at Bingo. We do ask for touch-less transactions at the park so please bring the exact amount of money as we do not provide change. Bring plenty of singles because you might want to play multiple cards. The $3 table reservation fee does include 3 cards. All proceeds for Bingo benefit the Oregon Park District Youth Scholarship Fund.

Dinner with Santa Friday, December 11

Registration Deadline: December 3 Sign up early for Dinner with Santa, space is limited, and social distancing protocol will be followed. Enjoy a delicious pizza and pasta dinner co-sponsored by Alfano's Pizzeria of Oregon. Your family will dine on pizza and mostaccioli and dessert delivered to your table. Your child will have an opportunity to get their photo taken with Santa Claus and make a holiday ornament. Bring your camera and capture a photo of your child with Santa. Officially opened in July 2012, Wiggly Field Dog Park is the first off-leash dog park operated by the Oregon Park District. The dog park is a 1 acre fenced off-leash area with two separate entrances and exits for safety. The first area is an open running area and the second is an agility training area. The park offers water fountains for people and dogs. Wiggly Field off-leash dog park is open seven days a week from dawn until dusk. Agility equipment will be removed during the winter months and brought back in the spring. We ask all owners to have fun, but be responsible. All users and dogs must have a permit. To renew your current dog park permit or purchase a new one, plesae call Nash Recreation Center (815)732-3101. Proof of rabies vaccination is required upon registering.

All dog lovers are invited to the 9th Annual Howl'oween Canine Costume Contest. Bring your pooch to the park and participate in the doggie parade at 5:30 p.m. dressed in their Halloween costume. Judging will follow with awards to the winning canines but all Participating Pooches will receive a small Howl'oween Treat! Categories include: Best Purchased Costume, Best Homemade Costumes and Best Group Costume (multiple dogs or pet/owner). All dogs must be well behaved and on a 6’ leash or shorter.
