A Note From Our Director..... Dear Oregon Park District Residents, This past year has been significant to the history of the Oregon Park District and its service to its constituents. As an agency, we celebrated our 50th anniversary and the progress made, but continue to focus on the opportunity ahead.
The District’s ability to meet and exceed the standards set forth by the National Recreation and Park Association are evident in the Comprehensive Plan approved in April. The planning process began in the fall of 2016 and continued through early 2017.

Residents, staff and the Board of Commissioners had an opportunity to provide input on their priorities and needs as we move forward. Utilizing the conclusions from the needs assessment the District was able to identify strategies and actionable items for the next 5-10 years. Results of the recent community input identified the following initiatives which will guide the District in the coming years: • Maintain and Update Existing Parks and Open Spaces • Maintain and Update Existing Indoor Facilities • Expand Walking & Biking Trails • Achieve Financial Sustainability and Explore Partnerships

Exciting improvements have already begun and will continue throughout the District. Envisioned as a park to promote health and wellness and a place for everyone to connect with others in the community, Fairground Park is already fulfilling its purpose.

1101 Jefferson Street, Oregon The Blackhawk Center is utilized by the Oregon School District and Oregon Park District through a cooperative agreement and is located on the campus of Oregon High School. It is home of your Oregon Hawks Indoor Athletics and utilized for Park District programs and school activities.

The Blackhawk Center’s three lane track is open to the public free of charge for walkers and runners Monday-Friday from 5:30-7:30 am. Shower facilities are available for use after your morning workout.

Oregon Park District is proud to be recognized as an Illinois Distinguished Park and Recreation Accredited Agency, the highest honor a Parks & Recreation Agency in Illinois can receive. The District has held this status since 2008!
ACTIVITY GUIDE RELEASE
Digital activity guides are released each year. Print versions are also available by request at Nash Recreation Center front counter. Our next guide will be released in February and include March-August. A full updated guide can always be found by visiting the district’s website www.oregonpark.org.
SIBLING DISCOUNT *FOR SELECT PROGRAMS
The Oregon Park District offers a sibling discount of 10% off the regular fee for each additional child enrolled in a program where one child has already enrolled at full price in the same session. Registration for all siblings must take place at the same time in order to receive the discount at Nash or by phone.

Fall Registration BeginsJuly 25 ANNUAL PASS HOLDERS
Annual pass holders will be allowed to register on Monday, July 24. Resident annual pass holders will begin registration at 7 am and non-resident annual pass holders will follow at 9 am. Registration on July 24 can only be submitted by members of your immediate family.
NON-ANNUAL PASS HOLDERS
Registration for non-annual pass holders will begin on Tuesday, July 25. Residents will begin at 7 am, followed by non-residents at 9 am.
RESIDENCY
ID is required for proof of residency or a nonresident fee will be charged. A resident is an individual living in or owning real estate within the boundaries of the Oregon Park District. All Oregon School District students participating in youth team sports are considered residents.
FEES
Fees must be paid at the time of registration by cash, check, or credit card. The first fee listed is the rate for Oregon Park District residents. The second fee is for non-residents. No registrations or rentals will be accepted without the proper payment.
CLASS CHANGES
The Oregon Park District may cancel, postpone, combine classes, or change instructors. Classes may be canceled due to insufficient enrollment and refunds will be issued. All participants will be notified of any scheduling changes or cancellations.
WAIVER POLICY
The Oregon Park District requires all class participants and pass holders to sign a waiver release form. Waivers will be signed and kept on file at Nash Recreation Center. Your registration is not considered complete until a signed waiver is on file.

PROGRAM REFUND POLICY
* A full refund will be issued if the Park District reschedules or cancels a class. * To withdraw from a program, a refund application must be completed. * An administrative fee of $5.00 shall be deducted from the amount of a refund to offset the cost of processing the refund. A full refund, less the fee, will be granted if the application for refund is filed with the office at least ten days prior to the scheduled start of the program/activity. * Refunds will not be granted after the registration deadline. * All program refunds are subject to the program coordinator’s approval. * Refunds will not be approved on Park District passes. * Passes/cards are non-transferable.

A Nash Recreation Center pass or daily fee allows patrons to use the pool and whirlpool, gym, and Fitness Center.
RAQUETBALL & WALLYBALL
Racquetball court rental is included in the annual pass fee and is $3.00/hour for non-annual pass holders. Wallyball court rental is $5.00/hour.
NASH FITNESS CENTER
The Nash Fitness Center is over 6,000 square feet and features a three lane rubberized track that surrounds our CYBEX strength training machines, free weights, and cardiovascular equipment. Our friendly Fitness Center staff is available to set up an orientation for any and all users looking to begin a fitness routine.
GROUP RESERVATIONS
Groups of 15 or more will receive a 10% discount on daily fees if reservations are made at least 10 days in advance. Contact the Oregon Park District for reservation information.
LOCKERS
The Oregon Park District has lockers available for rental to annual pass holders for the term of the pass. The cost is $65 for residents and $80 for non-residents.
MT. MORRIS VILLAGE RESIDENTS
Mt. Morris Village residents can register for all programs, memberships, facility rentals and daily fees at the Oregon Park District resident rate. Additional non-resident fees are subsidized by the Village of Mt. Morris.

AUTOMATIC MONTHLY PAYMENT
This is a convenient way to pay for your pass and selected programs. The automatic debit monthly fees are shown above. With your permission, automatic credit card charges will be made each month. The first amount is the initial payment that will be made when registering, followed by the amount of 10 equal payments to be charged on the 15th of each month.
3 PAY PAYMENT PLAN
Your annual pass is paid off in three equal consecutive payments! The pass fee is paid on the 15th of month, for the first three months, and is only available on annual passes.
AGE RESTRICTIONS
Children under the age of 5 are welcome to use the gym and pool area free of charge but must be accompanied by a parent or responsible person, 13 years or older. Participants must be 7th grade or older to use the Nash Fitness Center and 9th grade or older to use the free weights.
HEALTH CLEARANCE
All users are asked to fill out a health history form. Anyone with prior health problems may be asked to obtain a doctor’s release before being permitted to work out. All health forms and doctor’s clearance forms are kept confidential.

NASH RECREATION CENTER POOL
The Nash pool features stairs to a 3 foot bay area attached to a 25 meter 6 lane pool. The deepest area is 10 feet. The pool is equipped with a handicap chair lift to assist patrons in and out of the pool. After your workout you can enjoy the 13 person hot tub with both high and low jets.
LAP SWIM
Six lap lanes will be available for swimmers 7th grade or older. Swimming 32 laps is a one mile workout.
OPEN SWIM
All areas of the pool are open for use, including our diving board and basketball hoop. Pool toys are allowed in the pool at the discretion of the aquatic staff.
MULTI-USE SWIM
Multi-use swim is open to all ages. However, children are to be accompanied by an adult. Patrons may swim laps, play in the bay area, water jog in the deep end, or enjoy time in the hot tub. Swim lessons are scheduled during this time and will have first priority for pool use. Please be aware that areas of the pool may not be available.
HOT TUB HOURS
The hot tub is available for use during lap swim, open swim, and multi-use swim. The hot tub can also be used during swim lessons, water aerobics, and twinges classes. You must be at least 16 years old to use the hot tub. The hot tub is equipped with a handicap chair lift to assist patrons in and out of the hot tub.

Private lessons are 30 minutes of one-on-one instruction. Students may choose to focus on specific skills or work on all skills required to pass a swimming level.

Are you afraid of the water or never learned to swim? Does this describe you? It is never to late to learn to swim! Our instructor will work with you one-on-one for 30 minutes to help you enjoy the water and learn desired skills. Are you looking for a new type of egg hunt this year? On March 2nd join us for an egg hunt in the pool! We will have two different release times and will have Open Swim to follow immediately after both hunts. Non-swimmers can wear a lifejacket, if they wish, but they must have a parent or guardian (over 13 years old) in the water with them. The hunt will start promptly at 6:45 pm. Independent swimmers (at least 5 years old and able to swim independently without a lifejacket) will start promptly at 7 pm. For the safety of the swimmers, BAGS WILL NOT BE PERMITTED. ‘Wiggly Field ’ Dog Park
Officially opened in July 2012, Wiggly Field Dog Park is the first off-leash dog park operated by the Oregon Park District. The dog park is a 1 acre fenced off-leash area with two separate entrances and exits for safety. The first area is an open running area and the second is an agility training area. The park offers water fountains for people and dogs. Wiggly Field Dog Park is open seven days a week from dawn until dusk. Agility equipment will be removed during the winter months and brought back in the spring. We ask all owners to have fun, but be responsible. All users and dogs must have a permit. Please stop by Nash Recreation Center to get a permit and receive the rules and regulations. Proof of rabies vaccination is required upon registering. A $20 Key Fob deposit is collected for all first-time users. Families and their four-legged friends will enjoy the 6th Annual Wiggly Field Howl’oween Canine Costume Contest. Bring your pooch for the doggie parade at 5:30 pm dressed in their Halloween Costume. Judging will follow with awards to the winning canines and a Howl’oween treat for all participating pooches. Categories for judging include: Best Purchased Costume, Best Homemade Costume, and Best Group. Get your photo taken with your pooch at the Haunted Howl’oween Cemetery to commemorate the fun evening. HALLOWEEN CARNIVALS PRE-K TO 5TH GRADE
Put on your Halloween costume and come to Nash for the annual Halloween Carnival celebration. Try your hand at many games and win candy and prizes. Each child will receive 12 FREE tickets in a Halloween bag. Purchase additional game tickets as well as raffle tickets for a chance to win great gift baskets. BUILD A BIRDHOUSE CONTEST ALL AGES
If you enjoy birds, woodworking, friendly competition and need a fun winter project, this contest is for you! Design your own birdhouse or create one from an existing pattern. Cut and assemble your house and embellish if you choose. Specific contest rules with categories of entry for both youth and adults are available at Nash Recreation Center or at www.oregonpark. org. Judging will take place in the spring and the birdhouses will be on display at Nash. Some houses may be chosen for use in the parks. Travel by motor coach to see Broadway’s biggest blockbuster, WICKED, at Chicago’s Oriental Theatre. WICKED tells the story of what happened in the Land of Oz before Dorothy arrives. JR. HIGH SERVICE HOURS OPPORTUNITY
Are you interested in becoming an Extended Time or Camp Counselor? Maybe you are just looking for more volunteer experience working with leaders in the field and children who look up to you. This program is a great start for 7th and 8th graders! This is a free volunteer based program to both gain silver service hours and build your leadership skills. Learn how to plan and lead daily activities, safety standards and more from our experienced counselors. Applications are available at Nash. HOLIDAY LIGHT CONTEST
Enter your family’s, friend’s, neighbor’s or co-worker’s home in the 9th Annual Holiday Lights Home Decorating Contest. Any home with an Oregon address is eligible for this contest. Simply decorate and light up your home, complete an entry form, and you will be entered to win this year’s grand prize. First place will receive a Quarter Family Membership to the Nash Recreation Center. Judges will be out the week of December 11th. The winner will be announced on Monday, December 18th. The Ogle County Historical Society and Ruby Nash Museum are both affiliate groups to the Oregon Park District. The Ruby Nash Museum contains many Ogle County historical collections including artifacts, books, maps, and photos. Odds & Ends ELITE PACERS CLUB
If you log 1,000 miles in our Fitness Center by the end of October, you will receive an Elite Pacers Club t-shirt. After your workout, simply fill out one of our Pacers Club cards and drop it in the box. We will then enter your workout information into our computer. All miles and/or time will be converted into bike miles. The totals will be posted every month. If you are a new member, please ask the fitness supervisor on duty and they will explain how to record your miles.
BLOOD PRESSURE MONITOR
The Park District offers a free blood pressure and heart rate monitor in our Fitness Center. It is a fully automatic selfattended monitor. Be heart-healthy and happy! Know your blood pressure!

Lost and found articles are kept a maximum of 30 days and then donated to charitable organizations. If you think you or a family member may have lost something in one of our parks or facilities, please call or visit Nash Recreation Center.
SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
The Oregon Park District believes that every child should have an opportunity to participate in recreational programs regardless of financial hardship. For this reason, the Oregon Park District offers scholarships to Park District residents for reduced program rates according to financial need. Application forms are available at Nash Recreation Center or online at www.oregonpark.org. Applicants for scholarships are not guaranteed program registration or choice of program location. Scholarship fund availability cannot be guaranteed.

Donate a tree in memory of a loved one. You can choose the type of tree and park location. Contact the Park District for more information about this program.
BIRD WALK
Enjoy a scenic walk through the parks while enjoying nature’s winged friends. Each bird location features a bird habitat structure that simulates the bird’s natural habitat. Pick up your guide at Nash Recreation Center.
PHOTO POLICY
The Oregon Park District and/or professional photographers under contract may videotape or take photographs of participants in Park District activities, classes, programs, or parks. These photographs and videotapes are used for future recreation guides, brochures, Facebook and other marketing materials.
NIGHT FISHING PERMITS
You can now fish at night in Oregon Park District parks by purchasing a required Night Fishing Permit. Permits are available at Nash for $20.00 and are valid through the end of the calendar year.
SOCIAL MEDIA

MILITARY POLICY
Military home on active duty, their resident family members during military tours and wounded warriors will have access to Nash Recreation Center at no charge.
