As a community, we share each of these assets and all the recreation benefits they provide us.

Access to parks and recreation is just a short walk away. Over 4,000 of our residents live within a half mile of a park or recreation facility. Economically, parks enhance property values which, in turn, increase revenue while attracting and retaining home buyers and workers who live and play in this community we all call home. Quality facilities and the benefits experienced in our community come from careful planning and community input. The Board of Commissioners and staff will embark on a journey to complete a new Master Plan this fall. Your thoughts and ideas will be an important part of this process. I invite you to participate in our community surveys, focus groups, and public input meetings. Look for more detailed information coming this October.

The mission of the Oregon Park District is to provide quality services through programs, parks and facilities to fulfill the needs of the community in a fun, safe and friendly environment. We cannot achieve our mission without ‘people’. This means you as participants and volunteers, the dedicated Oregon Park District staff, and business owners. Local businesses donate funds, giveaway items and volunteers to ensure we can provide quality year round events at little to no cost to each of you. Some of our largest supporters can be found on page 24. We thank the ‘people’ of our community who make us one of the best park districts in northwest Illinois. Over the next few months staff will be preparing for our 50th anniversary. Look for a complete listing of the fun we have planned in late November! We are excited to celebrate 50 years of creating fun for a lifetime with each of you this December. I invite you to help us continue to successfully achieve our mission. It is home of your Oregon Hawks Indoor Athletics and utilized for Park District programs and school activities.

Oregon Park District is proud to be recognized as an Illinois Distinguished Park and Recreation Accredited Agency, the highest honor a Parks & Recreation Agency in Illinois can receive. The District has held this status since 2008!

ACTIVITY GUIDE RELEASE

Digital activity guides are released each year. Print versions are also available by request at Nash Recreation Center front counter. Our next guide will be released in November and include December-July. A full updated guide can always be found by visiting the district’s website www.oregonpark.org.

SIBLING DISCOUNT *FOR SELECT PROGRAMS

The Oregon Park District offers a sibling discount of 10% off the regular fee for each additional child enrolled in a program where one child has already enrolled at full price in the same session. Registration for all siblings must take place at the same time in order to receive the discount at Nash or by phone.

Fall Registration Begins August 19 ANNUAL PASS HOLDERS

Annual pass holders will be allowed to register on Thursday, August 18. Resident annual pass holders will begin registration at 7:00 am and non-resident annual pass holders will follow at 9:00 am. Registration on August 18 can only be submitted by members of your immediate family.

NON-ANNUAL PASS HOLDERS

Registration for non-annual pass holders will begin on Friday, August 19. Residents will begin at 7 am, followed by non-residents at 9 am.

RESIDENCY

ID is required for proof of residency or a nonresident fee will be charged. A resident is an individual living in or owning real estate within the boundaries of the Oregon Park District. All Oregon School District students participating in youth team sports are considered residents.

FEES

Fees must be paid at the time of registration by cash, check, or credit card. The first fee listed is the rate for Oregon Park District residents. The second fee is for non-residents. No registrations or rentals will be accepted without the proper payment.

CLASS CHANGES

The Oregon Park District may cancel, postpone, combine classes, or change instructors. Classes may be canceled due to insufficient enrollment and refunds will be issued. All participants will be notified of any scheduling changes or cancellations.

WAIVER POLICY

The Oregon Park District requires all class participants and pass holders to sign a waiver release form. Waivers will be signed and kept on file at Nash Recreation Center. Your registration is not considered complete until a signed waiver is on file.

PROGRAM REFUND POLICY

* A full refund will be issued if the Park District reschedules or cancels a class. * To withdraw from a program, a refund application must be completed. * An administrative fee of $5.00 shall be deducted from the amount of a refund to offset the cost of processing the refund. A full refund, less the fee, will be granted if the application for refund is filed with the office at least ten days prior to the scheduled start of the program/activity. * Refunds will not be granted after the registration deadline. * All program refunds are subject to the program coordinator’s approval. * Refunds will not be approved on Park District passes. * Passes/cards are non-transferable.

Online registrations will be accepted starting Saturday, August 20. Mail-in Registration – Send your payment and signed registration form to Oregon Park District, P.O. Box 237, Oregon, IL, 61061. Please remember to include a check or Visa/MasterCard/Discover number and expiration date. The Park District is not responsible for mail-in registrations not received. Mail will be opened on Saturday, August 20.

Fax registrations will be accepted starting Saturday, August 20, at 9:00 am. Drop-in Registration – Visit Nash and register for any of our activities, passes, or rentals. A Nash Recreation Center pass or daily fee allows patrons to use the pool and whirlpool, gym, and Fitness Center.

RAQUETBALL & WALLYBALL

Racquetball court rental is included in the annual pass fee and is $3.00/hour for non-annual pass holders. Wallyball court rental is $5.00/hour.

NASH FITNESS CENTER

The Nash Fitness Center is over 6,000 square feet and features a three lane rubberized track that surrounds our CYBEX strength training machines, free weights, and cardiovascular equipment. Our friendly Fitness Center staff is available to set up an orientation for any and all users looking to begin a fitness routine.

GROUP RESERVATIONS

Groups of 15 or more will receive a 10% discount on daily fees if reservations are made at least 10 days in advance. Contact the Oregon Park District for reservation information.

LOCKERS

The Oregon Park District has lockers available for rental to annual pass holders for the term of the pass. Cost is $65 for residents and $80 for non-residents.

MT. MORRIS VILLAGE RESIDENTS

Mt. Morris Village residents can register for all programs, memberships, facility rentals and daily fees at the Oregon Park District resident rate. Additional non-resident fees are subsidized by the Village of Mt. Morris.

AUTOMATIC MONTHLY PAYMENT

This is a convenient way to pay for your pass and selected programs. The automatic debit monthly fees are shown above. With your permission, automatic credit card charges will be made each month. The first amount is the initial payment that will be made when registering, followed by the amount of 10 equal payments to be charged on the 15th of each month.

3 PAY PAYMENT PLAN

Your annual pass is paid off in three equal consecutive payments! The pass fee is paid on the 15th of month, for the first three months, and is only available on annual passes.

AGE RESTRICTIONS

Children under the age of 5 are welcome to use the gym and pool area free of charge but must be accompanied by a parent or responsible person, 11 years or older. Participants must be 7th grade or older to use the Nash Fitness Center and 9th grade or older to use the free weights.

HEALTH CLEARANCE

All users are asked to fill out a health history form. Anyone with prior health problems may be asked to obtain a doctor’s release before being permitted to work out. All health forms and doctor’s clearance forms are kept confidential.

NASH RECREATION CENTER POOL

The Nash pool features stairs to a 3 foot bay area attached to a 25 meter 6 lane pool. The deepest area is 10 feet. The pool is equipped with a handicap chair lift to assist patrons in and out of the pool. After your workout you can enjoy the 13 person hot tub with both high and low jets.

LAP SWIM

Six lap lanes will be available for swimmers 7th grade or older. Swimming 32 laps is a one mile workout.

OPEN SWIM

All areas of the pool are open for use, including our diving board and basketball hoop. Pool toys are allowed in the pool at the discretion of the aquatic staff.

MULTI-USE SWIM

Multi-use swim is open to all ages, however, children are to be accompanied by an adult. Patrons may swim laps, play in the bay area, water jog in the deep end, or enjoy time in the hot tub. Swim lessons are scheduled during this time and will have first priority for pool use. Please be aware that areas of the pool may not be available.

HOT TUB HOURS

The hot tub is available for use during lap swim, open swim, and multi-use swim. The hot tub can also be used during swim lessons, water aerobics, and twinges classes. You must be at least 16 years old to use the hot tub. The hot tub is equipped with a handicap chair lift to assist patrons in and out of the hot tub.

The focus of Starbabies is to help very young children become comfortable in the water while also teaching the parent or caregiver the importance of water safety. Private lessons are 30 minutes of one-on-one instruction. Students may choose to focus on specific skills or work on all skills required to pass a swimming level.

Afraid of the water? Never learned to swim? Does this describe you? It is never to late to learn to swim! Our instructor will work with you one on one for 30 minutes to help you enjoy the water and learn desired skills. EARLY RISE EXERCISE WITH AIMEE

Class meets at Blackhawk Center Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 5:50-6:50 am and will get your day started in the right direction. The class consists of a warm-up that eases into a cardio routine followed by cool down. An adult sized, weighted hula hoop will be provided to increase the intensity and burn more calories. Fitness-based hooping has been said to have effects comparable to doing treadmill work, kickboxing and power yoga, but with less impact. This is ideal for those with joint pain and much more fun! Both men and women are invited to join this challenging non-stop workout! Originating in Russia, a kettlebell is a centuries-old training tool that looks like a cannon ball with a handle. Kettlebell training is different than other forms of weight training because many parts of the body are exercised simultaneously, and, in addition, kettlebell training elevates the heart rate for effective cardiovascular training. Children’s Center The Oregon Park District Children’s Center program will help prepare your child for Kindergarten as they learn to interact with their peers. REGISTRATION FOR THE 2016-17 SCHOOL YEAR

Registrations for 2016-2017 School Year, which begins September 1st and 2nd, are still being taken. A $20 deposit to be applied to your child’s first month’s tuition and your child’s birth certificate are required to register. Children need to be toilet trained and the appropriate age on or before September 1, 2016. If the session you are hoping to enroll your child in is full, please consider the other session, but please also have your child’s name put on the waiting lists. ‘Wiggly Field ’ Dog Park Officially opened in July 2012, Wiggly Field Dog Park is the first off-leash dog park operated by the Oregon Park District. The dog park is a 1 acre fenced off-leash area with two separate entrances and exits for safety. The first area is an open running area and the second is an agility training area. The park offers water fountains for people and dogs. Wiggly Field off-leash dog park is open seven days a week from dawn until dusk. Agility equipment will be removed during the winter months and brought back in the spring. We ask all owners to have fun, but be responsible. All users and dogs must have a permit. Please stop by Nash Recreation Center to get a permit and receive the rules and regulations. Proof of rabies vaccination is required upon registering.

Odds & Ends ELITE PACERS CLUB

If you log 1,000 miles in our Fitness Center by the end of October, each year, you will receive an Elite Pacers Club t-shirt. After your workout, simply fill out one of our Pacers Club cards and drop it in the box. We will then enter your workout information into our computer. All miles and/or time will be converted into bike miles. The totals will be posted every month. If you are a new member, please ask the fitness supervisor on duty and they will explain how to record your miles.

BLOOD PRESSURE MONITOR

The Park District offers a free blood pressure and heart rate monitor in our fitness center. It is a fully automatic selfattended monitor. Be heart healthy and happy. Know your blood pressure!

Enjoy a scenic walk through the parks while enjoying nature’s winged friends. Each bird location features a bird habitat structure that simulates the bird’s natural habitat. Pick up your guide at Nash Recreation Center.

PHOTO POLICY

The Oregon Park District and/or professional photographers under contract may videotape or take photographs of participants in Park District activities, classes, programs, or parks. These photographs and videotapes are used for future recreation guides, brochures, Facebook and other marketing materials.

FREE RENTAL OF FISHING EQUIPMENT

Would you like to go fishing but lack the equipment? The Oregon Park District has partnered with Rock River Outfitters to offer sport fishing equipment through the IDNR. Fishing rods, reels, and tackle are available to borrow at Rock River Outfitters, 114 N. River Road, Oregon.

NIGHT FISHING PERMITS

You can now fish at night in Oregon Park District Parks by purchasing a required Night Fishing Permit. Permits are available at Nash for $20.00 and are valid thru the end of the calendar year.

SOCIAL MEDIA

MILITARY POLICY

Military home on active duty, their resident family members during military tours and wounded warriors will have access to Nash Recreation Center at no charge. Proof of miltary status must be provided. In addition, Wounded Warriors must provide documentation of their status as a veteran disabled during service. Oregon Park District to celebrate 50 years! Save the Date - Friday, December 9th Join us as we celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Oregon Park District at our kick-off event. Watch for details in our Anniversary Guide, releasing November 18. Our next guide will coincide with the 50th Anniversary Celebration, occuring December through July, 2017. Lots of fun, new and exciting programs and special events are planned for our patrons. Our kick-off/open house event will feature a fun evening of celebration at Nash Recreation Center.
