Activity Guide Release
The Oregon Park District issues three guides per year in April, August, and December. You can find the full Oregon Park District Activity Guide on the District’s website at www.oregonpark.org. The Activity Guide is also distributed in the Ogle County Life newspaper. Since 2008, the Oregon Park District has been recognized as an Illinois Association of Park Districts and Illinois Park and Recreation Association Distinguished Accredited Agency, the highest award a Parks and Recreation Agency can receive in Illinois.

Oregon Park District offers 5 easy ways to register for programs, passes, and rentals! Online Registration – Visit us at www.oregonpark.org to sign up for an online ID and register for any of our activities over the Web. Online registrations will be accepted starting Thursday, April 26. Mail-in Registration – Send your payment and signed registration form to Oregon Park District, P.O. Box 237, Oregon, IL, 61061. Please remember to include a check or Visa/MasterCard number and expiration date. The Park District is not responsible for mail-in registrations not received.* Fax-in Registration – Fax a signed registration form to (815)732-3736. Please remember to include a Visa/MasterCard number and expiration date. Fax registrations will be accepted starting Wednesday, April 25, at 9:00 am.* Drop-in Registration – Stop in at the Nash Recreation Center and register for any of our activities, passes, or rentals. Phone-in Registration – Call (815)732-3101 and one of our friendly receptionists would be happy to enroll you or your family. Program Refund Policy
Annual Pass Holders
Annual pass holders will be allowed to register on Tuesday, April 24. Resident annual pass holders will begin registration at 7:00 am and non-resident annual pass holders will follow at 9:00 am. Registration on April 24 can only be submitted by members of your immediate family.
Non-Annual Pass Holders
Registration for non-annual pass holders will begin on Wednesday, April 25. Residents will begin at 7:00 am, followed by non-residents at 9:00 am.
Residency
ID is required for proof of residency or a non-resident fee will be charged. A resident is an individual living in or owning real estate within the boundaries of the Oregon Park District. All Oregon School District students participating in youth team sports are considered residents.
Fees
Fees must be paid at the time of registration by cash, check, or credit card. The first fee listed is the rate for Oregon Park District residents. The second fee is for non-residents. No registrations or rentals will be accepted without the proper payment.
Class Changes
The Oregon Park District may cancel, postpone, combine classes, or change instructors. Classes may be cancelled due to insufficient enrollment and refunds will be issued. All participants will be notified of any scheduling changes or cancellations.
Waiver Policy
The Oregon Park District requires all class participants and pass holders to sign a waiver release form. Waivers will be signed and kept on file at Nash Recreation Center. Registrations are not considered complete until a waiver has been signed.
- A full refund will be issued if the Park District reschedules or cancels a class. - To withdraw from a program, a refund application must be completed. - An administrative fee of $5.00 shall be deducted from the amount of a refund to offset the cost of processing the refund. A full refund, less the fee, will be granted if the application for refund is filed with the office at least ten days prior to the scheduled start of the program/activity. - Refunds will not be granted after the registration deadline. - All program refunds are subject to program coordinator’s approval. - Refunds will not be approved on Park District passes. Passes/cards are non-transferable.

*Family: Persons must reside in the same household. Each household is limited to two adults who are joined in a marriage or civil union and any full-time students between the ages of 18 and 24. An unlimited number of persons 17 and under can be included under a family membership.
Automatic Monthly Payment Option
Racquetball & Wallyball
This is a convenient way to pay for your pass and selected programs. The automatic debit monthly fees are shown above. With your permission, automatic credit card charges will be made each month. The first amount is the initial payment that will be made when registering, followed by the amount of 10 equal payments to be charged on the 15th of each month.

Gift Cards
A Nash Recreation Center pass or daily fee allows patrons to use the pool and whirlpool (during scheduled hours), gym, and fitness center. Racquetball court rental is included in the annual pass fee and is $3.00/hour for non-annual pass holders. Wallyball court rental is $5.00/hour. $1.00 Sundays/Fridays at Nash! The daily fee for everyone is only $1.00. $1.00 Sundays are in effect through Sunday, May 20. $1.00 Fridays will begin on Friday, May 25.
Group Reservations
Groups of 15 or more will receive a 10% discount on daily fees if reservations are made at least 10 days in advance. Contact the Oregon Park District for reservation information and details about areas that would best suit your needs.
Corporate Memberships
The Oregon Park District offers four corporate membership options for resident and non-resident companies. For more information call (815)732-3101.
Lockers
The Oregon Park District has lockers available for rental to annual pass holders for the term of the pass. The resident fee is $60.00 and non-resident fee is $75.00.
Mt. Morris Village Residents
Mt. Morris Village residents can register for all programs, memberships, facility rentals, and daily fees at the Oregon Park District resident rate. Additional non-resident fees are subsidized by the Village of Mt. Morris.
Gift certificates are available for passes as well as our many programs. For more information, inquire at Nash.
Nash Fitness Center
The Nash Fitness Center is over 6,000 square feet and features a three lane rubberized track that surrounds our CYBEX strength training machines, free weights, and cardiovascular equipment. Our friendly Fitness Center staff is available to set up an orientation for any and all users looking to begin a fitness routine.
Age Restrictions
Children under the age of 5 are welcome to use the gym and pool area free of charge but must be accompanied by a parent or responsible person, 11 years or older. Participants must be 7th grade or older to use the Nash Fitness Center and 9th grade or older to use the free weights.
Health Clearance
All users are asked to fill out a health history form. Anyone with prior health problems may be asked to obtain a doctor’s release before being permitted to work out. All health forms and doctor’s clearance forms are kept confidential.

Nash Recreation Center Pool
The Nash pool features stairs to a 3 foot bay area attached to a 25 meter 6 lane pool. The deepest area is 10 feet. The pool is equipped with a new handicap chair lift to assist patrons in and out of the pool. After your workout you can enjoy the 13 person hot tub with both high and low jets.
Multi-Use Swim
Multi-use swim is open to all ages, however, children are to be accompanied by an adult. Patrons may swim laps, play in the bay area, water jog in the deep end, or enjoy time in the hot tub. Swim lessons are scheduled during this time and will have first priority for pool use. Please be aware that areas of the pool may not be available.

Special Open Swims

Open Swim
All areas of the pool are open for use, including our diving board and basketball hoop. Pool toys are allowed in the pool at the discretion of the aquatic staff.
Lap Swim
Six lap lanes will be available for swimmers 7th grade or older. Swimming 32 laps is a one mile workout.
Hot Tub Hours
The hot tub is available for use during lap swim, open swim, and multi-use swim. The hot tub can also be used during swim lessons, water aerobics, and twinges classes. You must be in high school or older to use the hot tub.

The focus of Starbabies is to help very young children become comfortable in the water while also teaching the parent or caregiver the importance of water safety. This class does not teach the child how to become an accomplished swimmer or to survive in the water. One parent or caregiver must be in the water for each child registered. Fee: $35/ $42 NR

Zumba Toning

Deep Water Aerobics Ages 18 years & Up
Deep Water Aerobics is a more intense workout than your typical water aerobics class. Working out in the deep end will allow you to get an intense cardiovascular workout without the impact. You will also increase your endurance, flexibility, and strength. Participants do not need to know how to swim. An aqua jogger belt will be provided. StarGuard is a nationally recognized lifeguard training program that teaches the skills needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies. Candidates will receive hands-on training with actual equipment and realistic situations. Upon completion of a skills test and written test, participants will receive a certification in lifeguarding, First Aid, CPR/AED for the professional rescuer, and prevention of disease transmission. Attendance is mandatory and you must be 16 years of age upon completion of the course. New Student Fitness Orientations
Students entering 7th grade are allowed to use the fitness center at Nash Recreation Center. We invite these students to participate in a fitness orientation to properly learn how to use the equipment. This orientation is free of charge. Moon Walk
Be a walk star and join us in this friendly competition! Compete against other teams in this 10 week “race around the moon”. Each team must accumulate as many miles as they can within the 10 weeks, trying to walk the 6,783 miles around the moon. Each team that walks around the moon wins a prize. The team with the most accumulated miles wins the grand prize. Each team must consist of a minimum of 4 members, with a maximum of 8 members. Each registered team member will receive a Moon Walk T-shirt. Gather your co-workers, book club, family, or lunch buddies for this event. This is a competitive and fun way to get healthy! A captains’ meeting will be held at Nash on 5/30 at 6:00 pm. The kick-off walk for all teams will be held at Oregon Park West on 6/4 at 6:00 pm. On 8/13, at the end of the 10 weeks, there will be a Walk Star Cookout at 6:00 pm to present the final count of all miles, congratulate all teams, and conclude with an awards ceremony. Enjoy the opportunity to buy high quality, fresh, nutritious, and affordable farm products directly from our local farmers. Nature Discovery Walks
This program is designed for adults and children (with parents) who enjoy the outdoors. Many times we enjoy a short walk and pass up the opportunity to see the wonder of nature around us. Family Fun Fishing Day
Bring the entire family to the Rock River for a day of fishing fun. This year fishing will be included as one of the many activities taking place during Oregon Trail Days. The first 75 children will receive a free container of bait compliments of Rock River Outfitters. Learn to tie knots, bait your hook, cast, and more. Of course, you should also fish for a bit so we can measure, weigh, and take your photo with your fish. Enjoy the casting contest and sinker games. Register to win a fishing gift basket. We even have fishing for children 5 years and under (no water involved). The IDNR will be giving a presentation about fishing, as well as showing live species. Volleyball SLAM, Grand SLAM, SLAM Dunk...You name it, it’s happening in the park! Families can also enjoy some JAMMIN’ tunes and fun in the sun at the Splash Pad or Skate Park. Be a spectator or sign up your team for the Bags Tourney, 3 on 3 Basketball Tourney, Co-Ed Sand Volleyball Tourney, and more. Enjoy everything from t-ball games, youth baseball/ softball, a celebrity softball game vs. OHS softball alumni, family fun (inflatables, games), food, and raffles. There is something for everyone at the 2012 Slam-N-Jam at Park West. All baseball games will be played to celebrate the short life of former Park District employee and huge baseball fan, Joseph Kerwin III. Recognition and a moment of silence to remember Joe will be held prior to the Celebrity Game. This is a must see game for all...with great community participation and fun. The Co-Ed Sand Volleyball Tourney is a fund raising effort for the Malorie Zeigler Scholarship Fund.
Kids’ Outdoor Flea Market
It’s time to get rid of those old toys and games that are cluttering up your room! This is your chance to make a little money and get your room cleaned up. Bring your items to the Kids’ Flea Market at the Blackhawk Center Parking Lot. One table per vendor will be provided. Shoppers should be plentiful as the Flea Market will be held in conjunction with the kids’ Touch-a-Truck program and the Bicycle Rodeo. Each youth vendor must also have one adult helper on site. Touch-a-Truck
Come out and enjoy this free handson event for children to see, touch, and explore their favorite big trucks, heavy equipment, and large vehicles. Each vehicle serves a purpose. Bicycle Safety and Rodeo

Registrations for the 2012-2013 school year are currently being taken. A $20 deposit (to be applied to your child’s September tuition) and your child’s birth certificate are required to register. Children must be the appropriate age by September 1, 2012. A packet containing an enrollment and medical forms will be mailed to each student in early August. See page 4 of this Activity Guide for all of the possible ways to register. If the session you are hoping to enroll your child in is full, please consider the other session, but also have your child’s name put on the waiting list. Openings can occur and will be filled off of the waiting list.

Oregon Park District Tutoring Center Grades Kindergarten - Entering 4th
The Tutoring Center will provide one-on-one instruction for Math skill review and development. Customized lesson plans targeting specific skills for each child will be used while accommodating each child’s learning style. We are encouraging early registration for the Tutoring Center. This would allow for communication with the current teacher for any input which will serve as a basis for the child’s summer skill work. Sessions will be one hour in length. The number of hours you want to register for is up to you. Tutoring sessions are scheduled by Nancy Kerwin. After report card day, start your summer by planting a tomato plant that you can watch grow all summer long! Each participant will learn the importance of seeds, soil, water, and sunlight. Community Bike Trail
In June, 2011, the City of Oregon and Oregon Park District partnered to implement a 7 mile bike trail using shared roadways and paved trails through Oregon Park West and Fairgrounds Park. A detailed map of the bike trail can be found at www.oregonpark.org. The entire 7 mile trail is marked with directional signage. Parking for the trail is available from dawn to dusk at Oregon Park West or Fairgrounds Park. The trail is a great way to see our beautiful city, the sculpture trail, and historic points of interest.
Photography Contest
Give us your best shot! The rules of this community-wide amateur photo contest are simple. As you enjoy the Oregon Park District parks, facilities, and recreation programs, capture these moments on your camera. Submit them by June 15 for a chance to win a prize and have your picture appear in the Oregon Park District Fall/Winter Activity Guide. Oregon Park District Party Rentals Party Like A Sports Star
If you want to have a fun-filled sports party then this is definitely the party you want to throw! Your party will take place at the Blackhawk Center. It will include two hours of sports where you can hit baseballs/softballs in the batting cages, play badminton, and play tennis. You can even play basketball where our Oregon teams play. The room that you will be in also has a refrigerator for your food and beverages. The rental fee includes up to 30 people. Contact the Athletic Facility Manager for more information. Fee: $60/ $70 NR
Wii Gaming Party
Have your next group outing or birthday party at the Oregon Park District! Up to 15 guests will enjoy our Wii interactive virtual video games that you control by running, kicking, throwing, or jumping. One of our gaming instructors will serve as your virtual guide and host. An array of games will be provided or you can bring your own. Parties must be booked at least two weeks in advance and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Space will be available for refreshments and opening presents. The fee includes room rental for two hours, use of the Wii gaming system, and daily fees for up to 15 people. Fee: $60/ $70 NR
Splash Bash Pool Party Package
Bring family and friends to celebrate a special occasion or to just have fun at the Nash Recreation Center. The fee includes a party room for one hour and daily pool fee for up to 25 people. Each additional guest is $2.

Celebrate your event with the Nash Recreation Center pool all to yourself! These parties occur after the facility has been closed to the general public and pass holders. Oregon Coliseum
The City of Oregon has partnered with the Oregon Park District for management purposes of the Oregon Coliseum. The Oregon Park District is excited to offer an additional rental facility to the community that will be accompanied by the same great service our patrons are accustomed to. The facility will be host to many Oregon Park District activities and events and will be available to patrons for family reunions, special meetings, wedding receptions, and other gatherings. As an affiliate group, the Oregon Park District relies heavily on the Village of Progress for services 710 South 13th Street offered to meet the needs of the developmentally disabled. Ruby Nash Museum The Ogle County Historical Society and Ruby Nash Museum are both affiliate groups to the 111 North 6th Street Oregon, IL 61061 (815)732-7545
Oregon Park District. The Ruby Nash Museum contains many Ogle County historical collections including artifacts, books, maps, and photos. The Museum is open for tours on Thursdays from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm (year round) and on Sundays from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm (April - October). Admission is free.
Forward Oregon
The Oregon Park District proudly supports Forward Oregon. This not-for-profit organization strives to give Oregon area residents the best quality of life through promoting business, tourism, education, and instilling pride in the community for its parks and heritage.

Elite Pacers Club 2012
If you log 1,000 miles in our Fitness Center by the end of October, 2012, you will receive an Elite Pacers Club T-shirt. After your workout, simply fill out one of our Pacers Club cards and drop it in the box. We will then enter your workout information into our computer. All miles and/or time will be converted into bike miles. The totals will be posted every Monday. If you are a new member, please ask the fitness supervisor on duty and they will explain how to record your miles.
Americans with Disabilities Act
The Oregon Park District is happy to comply with the spirit of the Americans with Disabilities Act. If you need special accommodations (such as an interpreter or physical assistance), please call the Oregon Park District (TDD or Voice) two weeks in advance so that we may make the necessary arrangements for you.
Scholarship Program
The Oregon Park District believes that every child should have an opportunity to participate in recreational programs. For this reason, the Oregon Park District offers scholarships to Park District residents for reduced program rates according to financial need. Application forms are available at Nash Recreation Center or online at www.oregonpark.org. Applicants for scholarships are not guaranteed program registration or choice of program location. Scholarship fund availability cannot be guaranteed.
Memorial Tree
Donate a tree in memory of a loved one. You can choose the type of tree and park location. Contact the Park District for more information about this program.
Bird Walk
Enjoy a scenic walk through the parks while enjoying nature’s winged friends. Each bird location features a bird habitat structure that simulates the bird’s natural habitat. Pick up your guide at Nash Recreation Center.
Photo Policy
The Oregon Park District and/or professional photographers under contract may videotape or take photographs of participants in Park District activities, classes, programs, or parks. These photographs and videotapes are used for future recreation guides and brochures.
FREE Rental Of Fishing Equipment
Would you like to go fishing but lack the equipment? The Oregon Park District has partnered with Rock River Outfitters to offer sport fishing equipment through the IDNR. Fishing rods, reels, and tackle are available to borrow at Rock River Outfitters, 114 N. River Road, Oregon.
Night Fishing Permits
You can now fish at night in Oregon Park District parks by purchasing a required Night Fishing Permit. Permits are available at Nash for $20.00 and are valid thru 12/31/12.

Lost & Found Oregon Park District Gift Cards Make A Great Gift!
