Dear Donors

These pages reflect the profound impact of your generosity and dedication throughout the year. As we look back on all that we’ve accomplished together, we are overwhelmed with gratitude for your steadfast commitment to our mission. The Masonic Family’s passion for service and philanthropy continues to be the driving force behind our ability to uplift those in need.

Because of you, we have provided critical resources, guidance, and relief to individuals and families facing difficult times. Your kindness has not only changed lives—it has strengthened the bonds of community and compassion that define Oregon Freemasonry. The difference you make is real, and the hope you provide is immeasurable.

With your continued belief and support in our mission, we are inspired to continue to maintain and expand our outreach efforts and strengthen our impact in the years ahead.

As we embark on another year of service, we invite you to remain an integral part of this journey. Thank you for standing with us, for giving so selflessly, and for embodying the heart of the Masonic Family. Together, we are building a legacy of kindness that will endure for generations to come.

YOU’VE HELPED STUDENTS THRIVE IN STATEWIDE READING GROUP CHALLENGES.

Thanks to the generous support of Multnomah Lodge, students at Holcomb Elementary had greater access to quality literature during the 2024 Oregon Battle of the Books (OBOB). With this help, Holcomb was able to provide Kindles loaded with e-books and audiobooks, giving all 46

student participants more flexibility and accessibility in their reading experience. Ten teams of 3rd–5th graders read 16 books and competed in school battles, with the Reading Masters team ( above ) advancing to the regional competition— placing in the top four out of 21 teams. Their hard work, teamwork, and love of reading were truly inspiring to witness.

Community partners like the PTA, Oregon City Schools Foundation, and

Oregon Freemasonry played a vital role in making this enriching experience possible for everyone involved. We are proud of every student who participated and deeply grateful for the generous support that helped bring these stories—and their lasting lessons—to life.

This ongoing commitment to student success beautifully reflects the heart of Masonic philanthropy—creating a brighter, more connected world for all.

Since 2009, MasonicAid has offered steady assistance to our members and their families in times of need. MasonicAid seeks to support quality of life for worthy and distressed Oregon Master Masons, their wives, widows and children, and female members of the Oregon Order of the Eastern Star. We proudly offer the following services (subject to eligibility):

RESOURCE NAVIGATION

Clients work with a MasonicAid case manager to help streamline the process and ensure they understand the best solutions available to them.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

MasonicAid can provide funding to assist members with health and household needs in their own homes and communities. We may also be able to offer a financial subsidy for those living in a retirement community.

CHILDREN’S

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

The costs for medical, vision, or dental services and equipment can be overwhelming. Funds are available to lighten the cost of care for children and dependents through age 21.

Finding a safe, supportive place to live can be one of the most stressful challenges a person faces—especially during times of personal transition or hardship. For one grateful beneficiary, the assistance provided by MasonicAid made all the difference.

“You have relieved me of a tremendous amount of stress ,” she shared, expressing heartfelt thanks for the opportunity to move into The Jennings McCall Retirement Community with MasonicAid’s support. Now, she enjoys a secure, clean, and welcoming environment where she feels truly at home.

She emphasizes the kindness and compassion of the staff, who go above and beyond every day: “I am blessed by the

generous attention of an excellent staff that is caring in all they say and do. Your spirit [of care] is inspiring.”

To support our community and local schools, Oregon Freemasonry partners with Fox12 News to honor a Classroom of the Month and invite the public to nominate those in need of supplies and support at www.KPTV.com/classroom.

Throughout the school year, recipients are selected from those nominations and awarded $1,000 in supplies of their choice, typically from a wish list.

Local Freemasons are invited to participate in the presentation of these supplies. Fox12 films the presentations to air across digital and television platforms, including Good Day Oregon, sharing the good works of Freemasonry and building relationships and rapport.

CLASSROOM OF THE MONTH

“I love working with the Masons!”

“I was very excited and overwhelmed with gratitude. I’m beyond grateful the Freemasons have taken time to acknowledge us, so I want to thank them from my heart. I appreciate this gift to our children.”

- Ms. Mehera-Rosa Edgar Teacher, Sitton Elementary

Without fail, the recipients are humbled by the award and often child-like themselves in picking out all the new tools and supplies for their students. It’s a great opportunity to fill the gap for classrooms in need and support those who diligently invest in children.

Since 2019, we’ve recognized with unique $1,000 awards of essential supplies for local students.

YOU GAVE YOUNG LEARNERS FRIENDSHIP, LANGUAGE, CONFIDENCE, AND HOPE.

Teachers face the daily challenge of meeting the diverse needs of their students. That’s certainly true for Ms. Lee Ann Banning, a sign-language interpreter turned teacher, who leads the K-6 Deaf and Hard of Hearing classroom at Groner Elementary School in Hillsboro, Ore.

“Thank you, Oregon Freemasons. We are really appreciative of your generosity and kindness,” says Ms. Banning. “A lot of these kids don’t have a first language, so providing language models, watching them communicate with friends, and learn to read and write—it’s just a warm and fuzzy feeling .”

Thanks to the Classroom of the Month effort, Oregon Freemasons provided muchneeded supplies, including a high-quality speaker. “The sound quality really makes a

difference for kids who use their residual hearing,” Ms. Banning explains.

“The fact that we get to be here and help with this—to give classrooms the things they need but might have trouble getting— is really special ,” says W.B. Joseph Miluso of Sherwood-Midday Lodge No. 164. “It’s a great feeling to walk in, bring what’s needed, and see the smiles on their faces. ”

students benefited from the support provided to their families.

As our longest-standing program, Educational Assistance has benefitted the children and grandchildren of Oregon Master Masons since 1950. Specifically, financial assistance is provided to help families struggling to make ends meet while children are in public schools (K-12) and post-high school, through age 22.

Student success is of utmost importance, prompting this offering to help pay for school supplies, tuition, and even utilities and rent if the child lives at home. Need-based support is coordinated through The Grand Lodge office with help from the associated District Deputy and Lodge. Through this collaboration, dozens of families were helped throughout the school year. Our donors should take pride in the impact they have made, and will continue to leave, in the lives of these students and families.

EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANCE

When we lift up one family, we strengthen the whole Masonic community. During times of hardship, Educational Assistance ensures children and grandchildren of Oregon Masons succeed in school. Every family deserves the peace of mind that their children’s well-being won’t be compromised by rising costs or life challenges.

“Thank you so much again for this aid, it has made ‘making it through’ college possible, and I am grateful beyond words.”

- Grateful Student, University of Oregon

“Thank you so much for your help over the past year—it has made a huge difference.”

- Appreciative Student, Oregon State University

Students achieve the greatest success when equipped with essential supplies & support.

For students’ healthy pastimes like clubs and sports, support can save families $800 a year.

Funding plays a crucial role in addressing food insecurities, giving families peace of mind.

LODGE REPAIR & IMPROVEMENT GRANTS

While the numbers presented in this publication focus on assistance provided to our members, their families and communities, it is important to note that funds were also distributed to maintain our Masonic history.

Grants are available to any Oregon Lodge up to $10,000 annually, provided in the form of matching funds to support improvements and ensure longevity of Lodge buildings. This has enabled Lodges to finally conduct work that has been on hold for decades. Masonic buildings are more than just a meeting place, they are a beacon of the history and brotherhood of Freemasonry—worthy of conservation.

In 2024, nearly

$180,000

was provided directly to 20 Lodges to maintain our local Masonic history.

Partnering to Inspire the Next Generation of Readers

At the Oregon Masonic Charitable Foundation, we believe in investing in Oregon’s future—and that begins with strong readers. That’s why we proudly provided $50,000 in sponsor support to SMART Reading, helping children statewide build vital literacy skills and a love of reading.

With over 60% of Oregon third-graders not reading at grade level, the need has never been greater. Thanks to SMART Reading’s dedication and community support, more than 21,700 children received one-on-one or group reading sessions—and books to keep.

We’re proud to support a vision of Oregon where every child can thrive through the power of reading.
