The EMG Lookback is published by Emerald Media Group, Inc., the independent nonprofit media company at the University of Oregon. Formerly the Oregon Daily Emerald; the new organization was founded in 1900.

What a fantastic year it has been at Emerald Media Group.

Thank you to our readers and the entire UO community for your continued support of independent student journalism. I’d like to express my gratitude and appreciation to all of the Emerald Media Group students and staff who give so much of themselves to this wonderful 126-year-old institution.

Just a few highlights from the past year:

• The Emerald won three Pacemaker awards. The national Pacemaker Awards are unofficially known as the Pulitzer Prizes of student journalism. The Emerald won in newspaper, multiplatform and online categories and was one of only five college media organizations in the country to win in all three. The awards were announced in October at MediaFest ‘25 in Washington, D.C.
