Health Care Reform Update Colonial Life monitoring potential ACA changes under new administration Updated: 01/31/2017

It seems like just yesterday that we started to get the rules around the Affordable Care Act figured out. Now a new Presidency brings the possibility of change to the health care market. As you know, this type of regulatory uncertainty can dampen and confuse the market, coaxing decision makers into a “wait and see” mode in regard to health plans, as well as supplemental health products.

What can we do about it?

No matter what changes may take place under the new administration, the underlying need for Colonial Life’s supplemental health products remains the same. Since 2009, deductibles have increased seven times faster than wages. High-deductible health plans (HDHP) have increased by more than 200%, while other types of health plans have declined. This rapid cost shifting continues to leave employees exposed to unexpected health events at a time when the job market is loosening up and retention is top of mind for employers.

So, while you’re making it clear to your clients that our products are simply the best solution for this evolving market, you can be sure that we will be staying on top of regulatory shifts in health care reform. Remember, along with significant change and challenges comes significant opportunity for those willing to reach out and grab it. Group Critical Care Marketing Materials New look, but same great product Updated: 02/01/2017

Available now on the online ordering system, you can find the newly branded brochures for Group Critical Care (GCC). The Critical Illness products will follow a similar model as the newer Colonial Life products. The bi-fold “wrapper” brochure describes the need for Critical Illness insurance and one family’s journey. The inserts provide more detailed information about the GCC plans. The wrapper can be used for GCC or Critical Illness 1.0 (CI 1.0). Critical Illness 1.0 plan inserts will be updated later in 2017.

In addition to the wrapper and inserts, there is a new health screening brochure that can be used for both GCC and CI 1.0 products. The Building Benefit Rider on GCC is also newly branded. The final piece to round out the portfolio is the Decision maker/Broker brochure, which will be available in March.

Critical Illness Insurance has been proven as one of the largest growing products in the worksite market. The new marketing materials will help you position Colonial Life’s Group Critical Care as we continue to keep our strong foothold in this market.
