A Family Tradition Since 1926

Orchard Lake Country Club President's 2 nd Quarter Letter May 24, 2023 Dear Fellow Members: Welcome back! Summer is finally here, and the Club is bustling with activity and excitement. Chef Doug and his culinary staff have started the season with a bang with Easter Sunday, Cinco de Mayo, the Kentucky Derby, and Mother's Day nearly all being sellout events and all receiving high marks for the delicious food, presentation, and service. Peter has hired a new Clubhouse Manager, David Simpson, who is off and running assisting with our overall club operations. Paddle tennis is winding down and pickle ball will be ramping up. Our Director of Racquets, Lincoln Wirgau, currently has his tennis clinics and cardio classes up and running (no pun intended). Be sure to stop by the newly finished Racquet House to look over the new Pro Shop and recently stocked merchandise and OLCC gear. Golf is in full swing with both Men's and Women's leagues well underway. The men's Early Bird on May 5th and the women's Opening Day on May 11th were both huge successes. The new Ladies Night Out Golf 101 has also been a big hit and is welcoming many new women golfers to the game. Our Head Golf Professional, Brian Sleeman, has brought on two new assistants this season with the hiring of Jacob Connell and Ben Poppy. Also new to the golf staff team is Bill "Red" Rice who will manage the men's locker room. Please stop by to say hello to all three! Our golf course is in fantastic condition so early in the season thanks to the dedication and hard work from Superintendent, Aaron McMaster. We continue to see a high volume of traffic on most days which is being closely monitored. Thanks to all our members who are living up to the 4-hour round mandate as the early results are encouraging. We now need you all to apply the same effort to repairing ball marks and raking sand traps! Down at the lake front, our Sailing Director, Bruce Lilley, hosted the Blessing of the Fleet on May 12th and oversaw the installation of our new Commodore. We have two new sailboats, and a new second pontoon boat, for member use and enjoyment. The pool deck will soon be busy as well, as the 2023 Blue Carp swim team is scheduled for June 9th kickoff. All this Club activity is obvious for all to see. What most of our members have not seen, however, is the level of effort and the amount of hard work our entire staff and management has put into the preceding months with the planning, organization, and development of new policies and procedures to raise the bar and improve your overall member experience. This off-season, Peter and his team were tasked with breaking down and analyzing each of his department's policies, procedures, and workflow to identify potential bottlenecks and critical
