EXPERIENCING THE ARTS

ORANGE LUTHERAN HIGH SCHOOL • 2025-2026

Dear Lancer Community,

Welcome to the 2025/26 arts season at Orange Lutheran High School! For more than 50 years, the Lord has done marvelous things at Lutheran High School of Orange County. Since 2003, the Nechita Center has been a place where the talents, skills, and abilities of our students have been joyfully displayed. Through these gifts, and under the guidance of talented and creative teachers, directors, technical directors, and leaders, the Lord continues to use the Arts program to share the eternal message of salvation found in Jesus Christ with students, parents, donors, and the greater Lancer community. At Orange Lutheran, we believe it is entirely possible to remain faithful to Jesus Christ, our Savior, while pursuing and achieving excellence in the arts.

Whether you are enjoying a musical, concert, play, art exhibit, recital, or lecture, it is wonderful to attend an event in the Nechita Center. It’s not the space that makes the event special, but rather the dedication, hard work, and diligence of faithful students and leaders who pour themselves into each production. This year, hundreds of students will participate in the events that take place in “the Nechita”. They will sing, dance, play instruments, act, draw, create, and use their amazing abilities, gifts, and skills.

The Fall Concert will open our season this year, followed closely by Catch Me If You Can. Before we know it, Christmas arrives, where we celebrate the birth of our Savior with instruments, song, and dance. A fan favorite production of Charlotte’s Web will lead us into a vocal concert of Let’s Go to the Movies. You will not want to miss the Dance Student Showcase stepping up just before Into The Woods. Truthfully, it’s difficult to choose my favorite between the Instrumental Student Showcase and The Best of Broadway. A highlight of the year is our amazing Annual Art Show in May, where our visual arts are in full display. Finally, be sure to save the date for Night of Worship! We close the year being reminded of the work of our Master Artist who has created and designed each of us in His image, to the Glory of God.

Thank you for being here, and enjoy the show!

DIRECTOR’S LETTER

FALL VOCAL CONCERT

Dear OLu Arts Supporters,

Thank you for joining us for this year’s Fall Concert as we kick off another exciting season of Performing Arts at Orange Lutheran! Classes started exactly seven weeks ago and tonight you will hear a wide variety of repertoire that the students have been preparing in class. This truly is a special group of students. I am so excited for the year ahead and the many ways that the Lord will use these students as they lift up their voices for His glory.

Tonight, many students will experience performing on the Nechita Stage for the first time. Some of the students performing have been singing their entire lives, and others may have never sung before this year. Regardless of each vocalist’s background, they will all unite together as they close tonight’s concert proclaiming as one voice: “The Joy of the Lord is my Strength”. My prayer is that each student will feel strengthened by Christ and encouraged to use the gifts that He has given to them throughout this year.

Thank you for being here to support these students. I hope that as you listen to the words being sung, you will experience moments of joy, moments of entertainment, and most importantly, I pray that you will experience a moment of worship!

WELCOME TO THE TEAM!

THE ARTS

I’m thrilled to join the OLu family as your new Director of the Arts! With over 20 years of experience building and leading arts programs, I’ve had the privilege of mentoring students who now perform and create professionally around the world. The past months have been amazing—getting to know our incredible OLu arts families and the talented students who bring so much heart and dedication to their craft has been truly inspiring. I can’t wait to see all that we will create together in the year ahead!

ARTS & HUMANITIES ACADEMY SENIORS

AYLANIA LEBLANC, JEMMA MCCABE, AND FAITH NOVAK

OLu’s Arts & Humanities Academy is comprised of students who have a passion for the Performing Arts, Visual Arts, or Humanities. This year, there are 15 students in this Academy whose focus is on the Performing Arts (Acting, Dance, Instrumental Music, Musical Theater, or Vocal Music). Aylania, Jemma, and Faith are the three seniors who will be graduating from the Arts & Humanities Academy with a Performing Arts Focus.

Graduating with this endorsement is an accomplishment that truly highlights these students and the dedication they each have to their craft. Each of these gifted young ladies sing in Honors Choir, Bel Canto and Vocal Jazz. They are active in the musical theater program and will be performing in Catch Me if You Can at the end of this month. These girls take voice lessons and music theory class, participate in master classes and vocal juries, and are constantly working to improve as performers. Tonight’s concert features a special song that these students are learning as part of their Arts & Humanities requirement. We are so proud of how these students have grown over their time in the Academy program & look forward to seeing continued success from them throughout this school year and beyond!

MY FAVORITE PART OF BEING IN THE ARTS & HUMANITIES ACADEMY IS...

Aylania LeBlanc ‘26

“...the opportunities I have to work on my individual growth and talent from things like master classes and vocal juries. I also love how supportive we all are of each other and especially how much support and love goes into our end-ofthe-year recitals!”

Jemma McCabe ‘26

“...getting to do what I love with the people I love. I am blessed to be surrounded by talented performers who not only inspire me, but push me to grow as both an artist and a person. It’s an amazing opportunity to learn from others who share the same passion, to work together, and to build friendships.”

Faith Novak ‘26

“...the friendships I’ve built with people who are just as passionate about the arts as I am. It’s heart warming to see everyone around me grow in their vocal abilities and performance skills. This community that we’ve built around Christ and the Performing Arts has truly been remarkable, and I’m so grateful to get to be a part of it!”
