Time to bring out the old face mask and hand sanitizer, or stuff them back into the glove compartment? The latest report from the Orange County Health Care Agency indicates that new coronavirus cases may be on a slow to-andfro path to increases, but that contradicts national and state statistics.
Friday’s report – which covers the three-day period from July 26-28 – shows a total of 3,790 cases which averages out to 1,263.3 cases a day. That compares to Tuesday’s report, which shows an average of 1,144 daily cases, and is the highest in two weeks. Deaths rose from six to Continued on page 2
Surf is definitely up for a week with Vans US Open of Surfing The Vans US Open of Surfing 2022 is coming to – where else? – Huntington Beach starting on Saturday and running through Sunday, Aug. 7 on the beaches and ocean south of the iconic pier of “Surf City.” Featured will be competitions in surfing, skateboarding, BMX dirt bike riding and more. There will be vendors selling apparel and other goods, clinics and more. Surfing competitions will be organized and judged by the World Surfing League. The event is free to the public. Santa Ana man is held on child porn charges A 34-year-old Santa Ana man has been arrested for possession of child pornography. According to the SAPD, the arrestee is Miguel Arenas. The investigation began when a civilian investigator assigned to special investigations received a “cyber tip” from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Police say that multiple online searches indicated that Arenas had uploaded images and videos of the material.
