Coronavirus stats show increases After a sharp decline on Tuesday, the pace of confirmed new coronavirus cases in Orange County more than doubled in Friday’s report. According to the county health care agency, for the period of July 5-7, con-
firmed new cases were at 4,583. That’s a rounded average of 1,528, compared to Tuesday’s average of 666. Deaths rose from zero to 19 and hospitalizations increased from 227 to 277. The use of intensive care

Get ready to get slimed. But in a fun way. On Thursday night the Garden Grove Planning Commission unanimously cleared the way for the construction of a 500-room Nickelodeonthemed hotel on Harbor Boulevard. The panel approved developer Kam Sang’s request for approval of a planned unit development
and site plan for a 3.72acre site on the west side of Harbor immediately south of the existing Sheraton Hotel. When the Stanton City Council meets on Tuesday it will be asked to extend an existing moratorium on certain “personal service and medical office businesses” for an additional 10 months and 15 days.
