Island paradise for Porsche drivers
Perfect weather conditions at Phillip Island made for a racer’s paradise when a group of around 20 Porsche owners and their cars enjoyed exclusive use of the iconic Victorian circuit. Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup Pro driver Dale Wood was on hand to provide guidance and ensure that the drivers had a rewarding experience, one that would enhance their enjoyment of their car as well as their ability to extract even more fun from it. ‘I really enjoy those days, because I think this is a great group of people who all have the same interests – Porsche enthusiasts,’ Dale says. ‘For me to be able to assist them with my knowledge of Phillip Island and seeing the progress from everybody from the first session of the day throughout the day to the last session is a very worthwhile experience.’ Dale was the only professional driver on the day, but he was able to spend valuable track time with each driver and give each advice that would enable them to not only go faster but also hone their track skills, so they were safer and extracted even more fun from their cars.
By the end of the day, everyone was tired but very pleased to have been able put in some memorable laps while gaining a deeper understanding of abilities of these very special sports cars' abilities. •
