What is OPT?
OPT (Optional Practical Training), a benefit, is available to foreign students with F-1 visa status who are enrolled in or have completed a degree programme in the United States. This work is used for things like: before completing a course of study
during a time of annual leave
after finishing your education
The date of your "completion of studies" (such as the date of your final exams or the submission of your thesis or dissertation) is the day on which you really meet all requirements for a programme of study. It's not necessarily a given that graduation parties will be held on this day.
What is CPT?
Through collaborative agreements with your institution or university, a sponsoring firm can offer Curricular Practical Training (CPT), an alternative to work/study, internships, co-ops, or other types of necessary practical training.
