Senior Accountant OPSB Finance and Operations Central Administration Assistant Comptroller

Job Summary Under the supervision of the Assistant Comptroller, the Senior Accountant provides general accounting expertise in support of month and year end close and assists with OPSB Financial Reporting requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.

Assists with month and year end close.

Compiles various financial/accounting schedules, documents, financial statements and performs subsequent analysis.

Summarizes General Ledger Activity.

Prepares and posts journal entries.

Maintains fixed assets.

Performs bank reconciliations, including NSF analysis and manual check processing.

Maintains and files all cleared checks.

Performs/Analyzes other General Ledger Account Reconciliations as required by the OPSB system of Internal Controls.

Assists in the preparation of schedules and work papers for External Audit, the LDE Annual Financial report (AFR) and the Comprehensive Annual Financial Reports (CAFR).

Performs other duties as required and/or assigned by the Accounting Manager.

Prepares daily and periodic schedules and reports to determine future funds availability and portfolio profitability.

Monitors daily cash activity in commercial bank accounts.

Ensures that adequate funds are available to meet bond issue, interest and loan requirements Coordinates the day-to-day funds flow, as it relates to cash availability and operating or indebtedness requirements.

Understands and assists with MFP calculation.

Performs other duties and assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities This individual supervises the accounting unit.

Qualifications The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job.

A. Education and Experience Required: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. Five plus years of relevant experience preferred.

Solid knowledge of GAAP required.

B. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other Requirements Preferred: CPA. C. Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required Strong Microsoft Excel skills required. The ability to fulfill the responsibilities listed above.

Salary Range: Grade E06 of the Orleans Public Schools Central Administrative Salary Schedule.
