Dear friends,
As you will read in the accompanying June 2025 Global magazine, after nearly ten years of serving as the OM in the UK Field Leader, I am moving on to a new role serving with OM International.
As I reflect upon my time with OM in the UK, some of my fondest memories are of OM prayer meetings. I’ll never forget being in prayer meetings with George Verwer (OM’s founder) – no falling asleep in those meetings! Today we have our weekly team prayer times at the Quinta, OM’s headquarters, our monthly Global Prayer Meetings which are also streamed online (all are welcome to join us on the first Thursday of each month*). What a joy it is to hear about and pray for people and situations around the world. What a calling and responsibility we have!
Prayer is central to all we do at OM, and this is why we value, esteem and thank God for you, our Heartbeat prayer partners who stand with and prayerfully support our ministries and workers all around the world.
“Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus”

The backdrop of ministry life
It is difficult to capture in a few words the things that lie at the core of a large international missions movement. This month we pray about the issues that touch all of our lives — family, leadership and training. These three areas of ministry life form part of the backdrop that strengthens and sustains us and all we do. They are the vital ingredients in the rich mix that enables us to push forward for God’s glory.
1
SUN Midway through the year is a good moment to give thanks for all that the Lord is doing as we look forward with confident assurance that He is working for His glory around the globe.
2 MON Thank God that encouraging numbers of young men and women are following His leading into intensive short-term missions training.
3
TUE Across the world we see the wonderful life-changing results of various discipleship and missions training programmes. The body of Christ is blessed by young people who have faced up to the challenges and realities of longer-term missionary life and service.
4
WED Missionary families face particular stresses where one parent’s role involves a lot of travel. The parent back at home needs a good support group and energy as they continue the daily activities of family life.
5
THU Thank God for Facebook, video calls, WhatsApp, emails and all the other things that make distance and separation easier to handle. Write to someone today.
6
FRI Remember children and the special issues they face when one parent is travelling a lot. These things can affect children living in the UK as much as in remote places.
7 SAT Thank God that everyone in OM is part of a team and is responsible to someone - there is always support and guidance available.
8
SUN Our International, Regional, Country and Field structures make for good governance with various boards, specialist consultants and advisors. Thank God for many wise and Godly men and women who fill these roles.
9
MON World mission involves a multitude of important partnerships, all of which are vital to the task we share. Join in praise for all those who are part of the prayer and finance support teams behind each OM worker.
10
TUE Pray for any OM worker you know. Perhaps a text or call would encourage you both today. If you are linked to a worker with any other mission do pray for them now and contact them too.
11 WED We are thankful that many women hold key leadership positions across OM. Their gifts and insights are esteemed and sought after. Several are in major leadership, consultative and ministry roles.
12 THU Many of our leaders have family responsibilities too. Remember them as they juggle the complexities of family and ministry life.
13 FRI Our International Director Lawrence Tong and the Global Leadership Team (GLT) constantly face challenges and opportunities in equal measure. They always welcome prayer for righteous decisions about critical issues, often concerning large groups of people and matters of finance.
14 SAT Lawrence and the GLT spend a lot of their time considering the future. They need to understand trends and discern how OM can best be ready to meet ever increasing opportunities.
15 SUN Church leaders need our prayers. May they be filled with the Spirit as they lead services, preach and teach today. Your words of thanks and encouragement will be a great blessing.
16 MON Sometimes leaders don’t feel up to the challenges confronting them. It is easy for them to feel isolated in this situation. Keep them uplifted in prayer.
17 TUE Praise the Lord for generous giving to our appeals. Thank you! Prayerfully placed funds can provide seed money to business projects that can become self-sustaining. Sometimes there is dramatic growth ranging from feeding a family each day to transforming an entire community.
Raising the next generation
Our various discipleship training programmes are having a big impact in the lives of students who give themselves to the courses in various fields. Young believers are discipled and equipped to be part of God’s transformation of lives and communities both locally and among the nations. Participants live cross culturally and gain practical experience during hands-on outreaches.
18 WED When intentional witness and discipleship is included with these projects it often becomes possible to establish vibrant communities of Jesus followers through the ministry of business.
19 THU Global Prayer Day. At this time of year many teams will be praying that God will raise up more workers for His harvest field. There is also a focus on praying for teenagers and youth groups who will be at various TeenStreets in a few weeks’ time.
20 FRI Praise God for the scores of self-help projects, micro business loans, farming improvement schemes and women’s skill training courses take place with our teams. Alongside these there is the everyday sharing of the love of God from southern Africa to southeast Asia and from Siberia to the Himalayas.
21 SAT No Christian worker is exempt from trial and temptation. Pray for men and women on our teams who, today, may be struggling with sexual temptation. Ask our Father for the “way out” of 1 Corinthians 10:13.
22 SUN The biggest need for every OM worker today is a closer walk with Jesus. May God reveal Himself in a fresh way today.
23 MON Some are hesitating in applying to join an OM programme. Ask for courage and wisdom to take hold of the great possibilities that God has for them wherever they might serve.
24 TUE Those coming to the end of their commitment with OM are thinking and praying about the next step in their lives. Their recent life experiences will be invaluable in their new roles. They need wise and understanding guidance.
25 WED We have the privilege to serve in partnership with many other missions and NGOs around the globe. They all need more prayer and most need more recruits and finance. Ask the Lord to meet their needs too.

26
THU Long-term team members must sometimes return home to care for elderly and frail parents. While disruptive, this may often lead to new ministry opportunities. Pray for those who live where there is no well organised social care.
27
FRI Training colleges around the world are a vital part of God’s work. For many students the cost in time and finances is a big challenge. Pray for those who are studying as they seek to deepen their knowledge of God and enhance their usefulness.
28 SAT Learning through practical experiences always goes alongside classroom teaching on our OM training programmes. Ask that our training leaders and teachers would be experienced encouragers, rooted in God’s Word.
29 SUN Many young people are beginning to hear and respond to God’s call to go to the least reached. At this strategic point of their lives knowledgeable and wise advice is all important. Pray for experienced mentors to come alongside them.
30 MON Outreach teams can be gateways to intense practical learning. Team leaders are sometimes out of their comfort zone! Praise God that He uses new and amazing experiences to strengthen and train.
Sowing seeds of hope
Around the world OM ministries are sowing seeds of hope in the lives of the lost, poor and broken, through vocational skills training, microfinance and self help groups. By God’s grace and power these seeds are “growing into oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendour” (Isaiah 61:3).

Muslim community
Summer provides amazing opportunities for evangelism and outreach to communities near to home and in remote locations. Activities unthought-of a few decades ago are now commonplace; far-off destinations and peoples are reasonably accessible to those with a sense of adventure and the eye of faith. The best thing is that the lives of those who go and those who hear are often dramatically and permanently changed. God is at work in both the brief encounter and the careful long-term commitment.
1
TUE Praise God that many Muslims are in the process of moving from Islam to new life in Jesus. Our Father knows exactly who and where they are. We must pray in faith for an increasing harvest.
2
WED Thank God for hundreds of OM workers and all those in partner organisations who are serving in the Muslim heartlands. Many are helping internally displaced populations. Others minister to migrants.
3
THU Teams working amongst Syrian refugees need prayer. Ask for the inner strengthening of the Holy Spirit as many face awful suffering and distress every day. Intercede for more Syrians to meet Jesus.
4
FRI While celebrating Ramadan earlier this year many Muslims will have experienced dreams revealing Jesus. May they begin the search to find Him.
5
SAT Ask God to lay on your heart a specific Muslim nation or people group. Trust Him to develop your knowledge and prayer burden for those people (see operationworld.org for inspiration).

6
SUN The women of a very poor Central Asian country need special prayer. There are severe restrictions on social contact and a complete ban on their education. May they hear the good news on Pamir Radio.
7 MON Iran’s internal and external power struggles are often in the news. Thank God that the Iranian people are now among the most open Muslim people groups in the world. Iranians are coming to Christ faster than at any time since the arrival of Islam in the 7th century.
8
TUE Our teams distributed masses of literature and Bibles in Iran before the Islamic revolution in 1979. Pray that some of these Bibles and gospels will still bring light and encouragement in hours of need.
9
WED Ask for great flexibility as our teams look for specific outreach opportunities across the Middle East. Small groups can utilise the gifts of those who excel in challenging and high-risk environments.
10
THU Join in thankfulness for untold numbers of Muslims who have become our brothers and sisters in Christ in recent months. Many knew that their decision could mean death. Ask for the discipling of entire families who come to know Jesus.
11
FRI Uphold westernised Muslims who find that their deeply ingrained Muslim thought patterns regarding the Bible make it hard for them to understand the message of freedom in Christ.
12
SAT Praise God for good numbers of Pashtun men and women in northern Pakistan who started in discipleship and Bible study groups a few years ago. Pashtuns are an influential group in nearby countries and number 65 million worldwide.
13
SUN In recent years hundreds of southern Pakistani women and youth have been trained in various sewing and computer training projects. Thank God for the effectiveness of these projects, and ask that they would create opportunities for evangelism and witness.
14
MON Following Pakistan’s first hugely successful TeenStreet in 2023, the impact is being felt in 40 active groups among more than 500 teens in Lahore and the surrounding area.
15
TUE Ask that God would increase the rapidly growing influence of TeenStreet in Pakistan. The beauty is that God is changing families through teenagers who are being discipled during the year in small groups.
16
WED Give thanks for the conservative estimate of 10,000 believers in Turkey today. At last, 60+ years of sowing is bearing fruit.
17
THU Praise that the Bible Correspondence Course (which is now all online) has responded to half a million contacts since 1962. Thankfully, with many chat rooms, the BCC is now mostly run by Turks.
BY
‘The wind blows wherever it pleases…’
JOHN 3:8
Across the world of Islam the Holy Spirit is drawing groups of Muslims to faith. As more people commit to pray for Muslims and increasing numbers of workers serve amongst them, we trust that the gradually increasing harvest will continue.
18
FRI It is now difficult for foreign Christian workers to stay in Turkey. Hundreds have been denied visas, many banned from ever returning. Pray for those that remain, expats and Turks, to have wisdom, determination and much fruit.
19 SAT Most TeenStreet participants are back home to normal life. Thank God for those who made serious promises to the Lord at the TeenStreet events. Ask that they will all stand firm and shine brightly in their families and fellowships.
20 SUN Some teens returned to difficult circumstances - perhaps to a dysfunctional family or a church with no other keen teens. Commit them all to our Father’s keeping care.
21 MON Global Prayer Day. This is a day of big information flow. Teams around the world share topics for praise and requests for urgent help and breakthroughs. As you join with them ask for encouragement, more workers and renewed spiritual resources.
22
TUE A country in North Africa which is being destroyed by civil war has now been hit by famine. 130 OM workers and partners are trying to reach people without access to the gospel in the west of the country.
23 WED Give thanks that we now have 500 workers in the Middle East North Africa region. Half are now nationals. Ask the Lord for more open doors.
24
THU The Church in Central Asia is young. Believers need discipleship. Pray that they will grow in their understanding of God’s Word and prayer.
25 FRI Young Central Asian believers are being helped and encouraged to take the lead in ministry. Pray for them as they make these important advances.
26 SAT Ask that as young Central Asians meet Jesus as Saviour they will also understand what it means to make Him Lord of their lives.

27
SUN In Central Asian countries, while Russian Bible translations remain widely available, the spread of Scripture in local heart languages is closely monitored by the government. Every year it is becoming harder and more uncomfortable to distribute God’s Word.
28 MON Wisdom and protection are needed for those working to distribute the Central Asian Bibles throughout the region. They ask for good relationships with pastors and for churches to accept their responsibility and opportunity to share God’s Word.
29
TUE Many UK churches located near Muslim communities struggle to reach out and befriend their Muslim neighbours. Pray for more to be trained and shown how to do this lovingly and effectively for the Kingdom.
30
WED Our international evangelism teams work all over the UK. Some serve with local churches where there are very few Jesus followers in the Pakistani, Bangladeshi and Somali communities. Pray for more to come to know Jesus in these leastreached groups.
31 THU More people are needed to join the harvest workers amongst our UK Muslim neighbours. Can you make this opportunity known in your fellowship?
Transforming
hearts and minds
Many Muslims are very westernised in their way of life. Digging deeper may reveal Muslim values and ways of thinking that make it hard for them to transform their thoughts about the Bible and the gospel message of freedom.

Widespread sowing and reaping
This is the season of massive outreach events of every kind in churches and specialist organisations across Europe. God has used TeenStreet (in its many manifestations) to bring enormous challenge and growth to many thousands of teenagers from everywhere in Europe. Across seven countries, at least 8,000 teens will attend this year.
1 FRI Ask for God’s best blessing on TeenStreet. Values of discipleship, truth, action and connection undergird the event. Today is the first full programme day at the Europe event in Germany. Hopes and expectations will be running high.
2 SAT TeenStreet UK starts today at Capernwray Hall, Carnforth. Pray for good weather. Here and in Germany the events work best when the weather is kind.
3 SUN ‘Coaches’ are key to a successful week for TeenStreeters. They are responsible for leading and discipling a small group. Being a Coach has become a lifestyle for many of these young leaders who intentionally remain in contact with the teenagers throughout the year.
4 MON The international nature of TeenStreet has a huge impact on teens who attend. Many have made longlasting international friendships. Pray that these friendships continue to flourish.
5
TUE Godly servanthood, demonstrated in the lives of the many adults on site, has made a big impression on the teenagers over the years. Pray for these adults as they find creative ways to reach out and engage with teens this summer, continuing to share God’s love with them.
6
WED Some teens have attended TeenStreet for years but still feel uncertain about their faith. Pray that even if they can’t physically attend this year, they would be compelled to reach out to God and find Him in the midst of whatever they are facing at the moment.
7
THU Many teens still feel disadvantaged by the effect of coronavirus and lockdown. Finding freedom in Christ can help them move forward.
8
FRI Our Father has a purpose and a plan for every teenager. He is calling each one to play a part in His mission to the world. Remember them as they seek out ways to share God’s love in their home communities and look into short-term or gap year opportunities.
9 SAT Ask for ongoing creativity and insight for the TeenStreet team as they continue to develop social media content that will reach thousands of teens around the world throughout the year.
10 SUN Praise God for generous partners who support OM financially and in prayer. All gifts, no matter the size, help OM teams to continue sharing the good news.
11 MON Because world economies vary, some teams may be struggling more than usual right now. Give thanks for those who are able to respond with an extra blessing in these days.
12
TUE So much depends on a local team’s ability to respond well in the face of disaster and human tragedy. Pray for teams across the world responding to the challenging needs of their communities today.
13 WED Many workers serve in places acutely impacted by dominant religious systems. It is vital that they know how to live out love amongst their neighbours. Pray for creativity and energy for these people.
14
THU New ministry openings arise all the time. Pray for wisdom as tough choices must sometimes be made.
15
FRI Every worker has times when they feel unsupported and overwhelmed by circumstances. Sometimes those who have been serving overseas experience this on returning to the UK, feeling out of place and unused.
16
SAT Pray for anyone you know who is sharing the love of Jesus in a difficult context at the moment. Think of a way in which you can encourage them today.
17
SUN God is always working. Praise Him for how He is active in many conversations and acts of service, often without us noticing. He is always drawing people to Himself.
“Literal adherence to the principles laid down by Jesus Christ would, without a doubt, result in worldwide revolution. A revolution motivated by love, a revolution executed by love, and a revolution culminating in love.”
GEORGE VERWER, OM CO-FOUNDER
18
MON Global Prayer Day. Join with the international OM family as we uphold each other in prayer today. Keep in mind those in remote places who may, as yet, be the only Jesus followers. Trust God’s great love and grace to be evident as they seek to bless the communities in which the Lord has put them.
19 TUE The majority of the workers serving amongst the least-reached people of the world now come from the Global South. Thank God that so many countries which used to be receiving missionaries are now taking the initiative, sending and supporting their own workers to share the gospel.
20 WED Online ministry is increasingly vital and effective. Uphold workers around the world who rely on encouraging and discipling people remotely. Praise God for wisely used technology.
21 THU Continue to pray for those who are coming to know Jesus following the strategic prayer during Ramadan a few months ago. They need to find fellowship with other Jesus followers to help understand the Bible message.
22
FRI Wherever our teams are and whatever kind of work they do, our aim is to share the love of God with all we come into contact with. Ask for many open doors today.
23 SAT In many countries that come to mind our brothers and sisters in Christ are suffering very real opposition and strong persecution. As you read this, cry out to the Good Shepherd for His help and protection today.
24 SUN Some OM workers serving around the world are beginning to feel washed out, jaded and ready to quit. Pray that good friends, skilled member-care staff and understanding team members will be on hand. Sometimes reasons are deeply spiritualcommonly all that is needed is a proper holiday.
25 MON Pray for churches as they serve their local communities and make Jesus known in their neighbourhoods. Ask that many more fellowships would be engaged in sharing God’s love with their global neighbours too.
26
TUE Stand by anyone considering an application to OM or any other mission agency. Ask for good contact with encouraging and wise people.
27
WED Large numbers of UK believers worship in churches where the teaching is weak and the Great Commission never mentioned. Ask the Lord for a renewed interest in Bible study and obedience to its teachings.
28
THU Pray for Bible colleges which have a strong emphasis on missions and give thorough preparation for Christian service.
29
FRI Pray for anyone you know in their late teens or early twenties. Could they benefit from a month or a year of training and outreach with OM? Be bold, speak to them about it and point them to our website.
30
SAT During her visit to Trinidad at the end of 2024, Logos Hope saw 204,000 books sold (61,000 Christian books) and 19,000 Bibles and New Testaments!
There were 85,000 visitors. Pray that these books will have a deep and strong spiritual impact on Trinidad.
31 SUN Pray for our mobilisation teams as they go into countless churches around the globe to speak to God’s people about the importance of missions.
Unnamed but not forgotten
You may have noticed that we rarely mention workers’ names. Now we are not mentioning some familiar countries either! Several areas and fields in OM require an increased level of security to ensure that no person or work is put at risk. You might need to read between the lines! We still work with real people in real places. Our Father easily interprets our prayers!

Disciple making in a tough world
We live in a world full of need and are faced with an endless range of opportunities to share God’s love. In a big and busy movement it is very easy to do many, many things. We are reminded of Jesus’ simple statement of intent at the very start of His work on earth in Luke 4:18: “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim Good News to the poor.”
SEPTEMBER
1 MON The increase in world population outstrips the growth of the Church. More and more people need to hear about Jesus. Ask that Christians from all nations will respond to the command to “Go!”
2 TUE Lots of young people are beginning to hear God’s call to go to the least reached. They need help, encouragement and opportunities to test the water and good mentors to come alongside them.
3 WED Training centres around the world are a vital central part of God’s work. The cost in time and finance is a big challenge for most students. Crossing these hurdles will help prepare them for bigger challenges later on.
4 THU On our training programmes the opportunity to gain practical experience always goes hand in hand with classroom teaching. Pray that trainers and leaders will be firmly rooted in the Word of God.

“You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask
5
FRI As a result of your prayer for the summer outreach teams, thousands of gospel conversations are taking place every year and on every continent. Pray for the hundreds who have started their lifelong journey with Jesus during recent weeks.
6
SAT Ask that these new Jesus followers will be encouraged and supported in their new walk by warm and welcoming Christian communities.
7
SUN Outreach teams can be places of intense practical learning in which team leaders sometimes find themselves out of their comfort zones. Pray that God uses new and puzzling experiences to strengthen and train them.
8
MON Large numbers of new OMers will be joining and settling in on scores of teams around the world at this time of year. Trust that on both sides realistic expectations will be met.
9 TUE Discipleship involves growing in our understanding of God, ourselves and each other. Thank God that OM teams give great opportunities for growth in each of these areas of life whilst also forming deep, lifelong friendships.
10 WED Many teenagers have made big promises to God during the summer at OM’s TeenStreets and many other Christian events too. They are now facing the daily tussle of staying true. Pray for any teens you know.
11 THU During the TeenStreet week teens spent a lot of time in their small groups. These spiritual growth and accountability groups continue, often online, throughout the year. Pray that these groups would provide an enormous help and blessing to teens, their families and churches alike.
12 FRI Discipling young believers is a key part of OM’s ministry. Helping them meet Jesus in the Bible is linked with practical growth that leads to evangelism and sharing their story with friends and neighbours.
13 SAT Recounting missionary exploits used to be a core part of the Sunday school curriculum. Pray that today’s children and young people will be given the chance to hear and be challenged by what God is doing around the world today.
14 SUN Ask for open doors for returning OMers to tell their stories to children and other young people in their sending churches.
15 MON Christian parents face a tough challenge from social media and other time-absorbing activities. They need vision and wisdom as they access suitable Christian missions materials for their families.
16 TUE In a large North African country, many young people are becoming disillusioned with the religion of their parents and are looking to materialism and New Age practices to meet their needs. Ask that numbers turning to Jesus will continue to increase.
Costly discipleship
God’s purpose in salvation is always for believers to grow in their knowledge of Him and to be involved in the ongoing task of making other disciples. Being a Jesus follower can be very costly for some of our brothers and sisters who live in hard places. It may be difficult for those living in the Muslim world and in remote locations to find fellowship.
17 WED Many Afghans outside their home region are teenagers. Either asylum seekers or already settled, they are meeting Christians and beginning to follow Jesus for themselves in encouraging numbers.
18 THU Global Prayer Day. Our Global Prayer days are a source of great corporate strength across our work. Up-to-theminute prayer information for crisis situations blends with shared rejoicing for even the smallest victories won.
19 FRI Remember many teens, across Europe and many other tough places, who are geographically isolated but continue to be spiritually linked with their TeenStreet small group friends through social media.
20 SAT Join with many thankful church leaders and families who are noticing a continuation of the work God started in the lives of their teenagers at TeenStreet. Pray for these young people as they grow and develop in Christ, and for their church leaders who help disciple them.
21 SUN Discipline is always needed to make time for spiritual refreshment and deeper intimacy with God. Pray that OM workers would be deeply rooted in rhythms of prayer and reading God’s Word.
22 MON Many OM workers are seeking opportunities for further specific training to equip them for their ministry. Pray for things to come together for such people to be able to benefit from just the course the Lord wants them to attend.
23 TUE Teams will be looking out for answered prayers following last week’s Global Prayer Day. Give thanks in faith.
24
WED We work with many partner organisations. Thank God for our partnership with Operation Mercy, an international relief and development organisation with over thirty years’ experience. They serve the poor and marginalised with relief and development professionals from 30 nations speaking more than 60 languages.
25
THU Operation Mercy works to empower women, improve health, care for children at risk, equip the next generation and respond to crises in ten countries throughout Central Asia, North Africa and the Middle East. Thank God for the impact of these life-changing initiatives.
26
FRI In Jordan Operation Mercy projects help poor farmers adopt hydroponics and other systems to deal with water and soil quality issues. Supporting farmers with strategies to improve the quality, quantity and price, their produce is a tangible support to the populations they feed.
27
SAT In Kyrgyzstan Operation Mercy runs a Children at Risk project to see children living in healthy families where they can reach their potential in all areas: social, physical, mental and spiritual. Uphold the international specialist teams.
28 SUN Today many relief and development workers will have to make an effort to find a time and a place to worship together while surrounded by desperate human needs and urgent situations that they must address.
29 MON Operation Mercy teams in Iraq seek to support a culture that gives birth to hope, love and forgiveness. Restored relationships and people living up to their potential can transform their country.
30 TUE Pray for long-term outcomes following Morocco’s 6.8 magnitude earthquake in September 2023. Throughout the High Atlas mountains many villages were completely destroyed. Operation Mercy teams help oversee ‘Build Back Safer’ construction. Today many provide mental health and psycho-social support.
Choosing to forgive
A Middle Eastern Christian reported recently: “Seventy members of my family were slaughtered by ISIS, but I have learned that to truly overcome their hatred, I must surrender my pain to God and choose to forgive. Love and forgiveness are the only way forward.”
Ships Update
Doulos Hope made history by voyaging through the Mekong River during June 2024. This journey fulfils a dream that has been in the making since Doulos Hope’s launch. Her agile build and smaller size enable her to visit communities that would otherwise be out of reach.
During her five-week stay in Phnom Penh, crewmembers connected with locals through the distribution of glasses to improve vision, children’s programmes, the bookfair, and food donations.
In February, Logos Hope had the opportunity to return to Grenada for the first time since the catastrophic hurricane of July 2024. The ship docked in Saint George’s with a crew ready to help.
A team of six crewmembers dedicated a week to practical work on the island of Carriacou. Together with local hosts, they visited schools, organised and distributed resources and spent time connecting with locals.
