Something More Creative® STORIES AND IMAGES:

Dear friends, As Logos Hope continues her journey around the UK, we have much to reflect on and give thanks for. Since arriving in London, we have seen God open doors, bring people together and create opportunities to share His hope with thousands of visitors across the nation. What has been especially encouraging is seeing the many people who have played a part in making this tour possible. From the line-up teams, volunteers, churches and ministry partners working alongside us, to those who have prayed, given and invited others to come, this has truly been a shared expression of the body of Christ working together. Each conversation, act of service and moment of encouragement has been part of a much bigger story that God is writing. As the ship continues towards Belfast and Liverpool, we are reminded that the impact of Logos Hope is not limited to the months she spends in these ports. While the ship will eventually sail on to new destinations, our prayer is that the relationships formed and connections made will continue to grow. Through a greater local presence in the ports visited, we hope to walk alongside churches, individuals and communities, encouraging discipleship, prayer and outreach long after the ship has departed. While Logos Hope has been a significant focus for us this year, it is just one part of the many ways God has been at work through OM. Across the UK and around the world, we have seen Him transform lives through creative outreach, practical service, church partnerships and the faithful witness of His people. We continue to see that God is at work in ways both seen and unseen. As you read the stories in this edition, we invite you to celebrate not only what has happened, but the God who makes it possible. Every prayer offered, every gift given and every person who has stepped forward to serve has helped make these moments possible. Thank you for standing with us and being part of this mission. As we look ahead, our prayer remains that more people would encounter the hope of Jesus and that together we would continue to see His name made known among every nation, tribe and tongue.

A light behind bars: Russia’s prison ministry The door clanged shut behind me with a finality that still echoes in my bones. In an overcrowded cell, I sit on cold concrete, staring at the sliver of sky visible through the barred window. Days blur into weeks and the passing of time feels like a punishment in and of itself. The weight of knowing that life outside has moved on becomes increasingly heavy. Friends feel like memories, and family seems distant. Loneliness and hardship are a daily reality. For many prisoners in Russia, this picture is not far from reality.

W O R D S K A R E N RO B I N PAU L

Today, Russia is often viewed through the lens of war, political tensions and concerns about human rights and freedoms. Yet even amid these challenges, God is at work. His love reaches beyond walls and prison bars, bringing light and hope to lives that many have forgotten. Russia is home to over a quarter of a million prisoners, many serving long sentences. While offences vary, a significant number are linked to substance abuse, broken relationships, poor life choices,

and a lack of moral and spiritual foundations. Prison conditions can be harsh, and hope is often in short supply. In the vast region of Siberia, OM supports a remarkable ministry sharing the transforming hope of Christ with those behind bars. Run by Baptist churches in the Novosibirsk Region, this prison ministry was restarted in 2011 and operates under an official agreement with the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia. This unique partnership provides rare and valuable access, allowing ministry teams to offer ongoing spiritual care and practical support to inmates across the region. Today, teams regularly visit nine correctional colonies, leading prayer meetings, Bible studies, discipleship groups and personal conversations. Larger outreach events, including concerts and lectures, also bring encouragement to many prisoners each year. The ministry distributes Bibles, New Testaments, Christian literature, calendars and small gifts, extending

kindness not only to inmates but also to prison staff. Beyond the prison gates, it supports families through home visits and practical care, helping restore relationships and offering a powerful reminder that no one is beyond God’s reach or redeeming love. The goal is simple yet profound: to introduce prisoners to Jesus Christ, establish Bible study groups within prisons, restore broken families and offer hope where despair once reigned. While many will criticise governments and political leaders, Christians are called to pray for all people and to seek peace. Above all, we are called to remember that every life matters to God.

Will you partner with us in bringing the life-changing message of Christ to those who are still waiting to hear? UK.OM.ORG/GLHB-GIVING

Train in the UK — Reach the nations! WORDS NICKY ANDREWS 02

Is God calling you to cross-cultural church planting here in the UK? For in-depth hands-on training, OM now offers a year-long UK Church Planting Immersion Programme starting in January 2027. Andrew Berry, Director of Disciple Making Ministries for OM in the UK, introduces this exciting new initiative:

Engaging people in mission over the long term always flows from God’s call on a person’s life. Often it starts with a desire to experience something different – a travel adventure, a new culture or the challenge from God’s Word ‘for the nations to be glad’ (Psalm 67).

ISSUE 2 2026

R E A C H I N G ‘ T H E N AT I O N S ’ S TA R T S H E R E !

For believers based in the UK, that used to mean going overseas, but today the world’s peoples are on our doorstep – in our communities and cities – not forgetting a whole generation of Brits growing up in a secularised post-Christian culture. So many people in this land are living outside any effective presentation of the gospel — they are least reached. Here in OM, for 40-plus years, we have pioneered a range of ‘Disciple Making Ministries’ in our main urban centres, serving Jesus amongst leastreached people. CHURCHES REPRODUCING CHURCHES

Our workers, otherwise known as ‘disciple makers’, serve alongside city churches which are either intercultural or from a specific background — often from varied Asian or Middle Eastern cultures. We are seeing new followers of Jesus become His disciples, reach their peers, get trained up into leadership, form new gatherings which make more disciples… there’s a term for this cyclical growth — church-planting! I’ve observed that an increasing number of mission agencies are catching a vision for this in a UK context. LET OM TRAIN AND EQUIP YOU

So here’s my challenge: are you an established disciple who senses God’s call to serve Him as a ‘disciple maker’ amongst the least reached? Maybe that’s within your home church, elsewhere in the UK or

ultimately abroad. Do you want to be equipped with quality training, transferable skills and in-depth experience, helping small groups of disciples grow and reproduce in the cyclical manner I’ve described? If this is you, and you are looking for a serious training programme please prayerfully consider our new UK Church Planting Immersion Programme: an in-depth training programme across 12 months on practical biblical mission. Each month you’ll receive one week’s residential classroom teaching at one of our OM bases, followed by three weeks serving alongside one of our seasoned cross-cultural Disciple Making Ministries. They will provide you with ‘immersive’ hands-on experience and mentoring in one of our ‘disciple making’ ministries in the West Midlands or London, so that your study is being put into practice. If you feel a burden for a particular people group, we will aim to customise your practice placement accordingly. So if, for example, your heart is for people who have come from Hong Kong, we will pair you with an OMer involved with a pioneering Chinese church. But wherever you serve, by the end of the programme, you should be able to look back and say, “God has used me to bring a small group together” and know that you’ve helped lay the foundations for its future healthy growth. GOING DEEPER

In each classroom block you’re reunited with your fellow trainees,

so the whole group represents a spread of what is happening in OM across the UK. You’ll be studying topics including Basic Elements in Discipleship; Crossing Cultural Boundaries; Biblical Theology; New Testament Church Leadership in the book of Acts; Introduction to post-Christian Modernism, and Soteriology (how we present the gospel in different cultural frameworks — what are the essential ingredients any person needs before they can respond personally to an encounter with Christ). FINDING OUT MORE

Could God be leading you to this programme? Whether you’re younger or older, single or married, you’ll have some relevant previous experience or training AND a pioneering spirit — someone who says, “I want to do something different, I want to be on the leading edge.” If this is you, please head to uk.om.org/uk-churchplanting-immersion-programme to find out more. We’d love to hear from you! Join us in January 2027 — come and experience partnering with Jesus in His mission to see people who will worship Him from every nation! (Rev 5:9). 03

God at work in South Asia Across the mountains and villages of South Asia, God is drawing people to Himself in remarkable ways. Through simple acts of service, compassionate conversations and faithful witness, lives are being transformed as people encounter the hope and freedom found in Jesus. These two stories remind us that God is at work even in places where the gospel is little known, revealing His love to those searching for truth and demonstrating His power over fear, shame and spiritual darkness. 04

Carrying stones *NAMES CHANGED

Days of work helping a family build a new house provided a group of believers the opportunity to share about Christ through both words and deeds.

WORDS ANNE-ROOS

Amid faint rolling hills in South Asia lies a village steeped in darkness. Pemba,* an OM partner, has travelled there with a group of believers to help a villager build a new house. Another two dozen villagers join in the work. Soon, Pemba learns that one family — Tashi* and her son Kelsang* — carry a heavy burden. An evil spirit haunts their family, they tell him. It

keeps them awake at night. The lama is powerless, and the rituals don’t work. Yet Tashi and Kelsang have never heard of the Light of Christ. “As we spent the night with them, we encountered the evil spirit too,” Pemba recalls. “But we know the One who is more powerful, and we asked Him for opportunities to share.” And opportunities soon came. In the following days, everyone worked together, digging the foundation and carrying stones. “It was tiring,” Pemba says, “but our love for the lost helped us keep going.” Over dinner, the believers shared about their Saviour. Day after day, they

talked about Jesus. Tashi and Kelsang listened intently. By the time the roof was completed, Tashi and Kelsang were ready to follow Him. In front of many others, they declared their newfound faith. Together, they made a fire and burnt all the idols and items they used for offerings; they would not need them any more. Other family members watched in amazement. “We are considering accepting Him too,” they said. “Nobody would sacrifice their time and help us like this. This is the genuine love of your God!”

Not by karma *NAMES CHANGED

Despite the risk of persecution, a shepherd gave his life to Christ after understanding that his disability was not because of karma or his sins: “Jesus is the only way.” In a remote Himalayan village 4,200

metres above sea level, Kersang*, an OM worker in South Asia, met Pema*, a shepherd. It was there, while Kersang was helping to set up some greenhouses for the community, that he gave Pema a solar-powered audio player.

Pema’s hand had been permanently injured in an accident. “Was this caused by my bad karma or sin?” asked Pema. Kersang explained the story of the blind man in John 9:1-3. “In this true story, we can see,” explained Kersang, “that neither the man nor his parents’ sin caused the disability. Instead, his blindness happened so that a work of God might be displayed in his life.” After a long discussion, Pema and his wife were eager to commit their lives to Jesus. Kersang asked: “Are

you sure that you want to do that, because there will be significant challenges from your Buddhist community and family if you do?” Pema replied: “You chose to follow Jesus because you knew it was the only way, so we want to do the same.”

Join us in praising God for what He is doing — and in praying that many more across South Asia will come to know the abundant life found in Christ.

Mariam wanted a successful business, but more than that she wanted a fruitful one. After receiving business and discipleship training, she opened a small market in her neighbourhood.

OM has a business training project in the Caucasus to help people start small businesses and become financially independent. They also offer microloans to national believers who successfully complete the training, like Mariam.* After receiving training and a small loan, she opened a small market in her neighbourhood, where most people were Muslims. *NAMES CHANGED W O R D S S H A R E N PA R S L E Y 06

Mariam wanted to have a successful business, but more than that she wanted a fruitful one. Having also received discipleship training from OM, she desired to use her market for the Kingdom. She sold groceries, such as bread, sweets and tea. Shortly after opening her shop, she hired Sama* to help her. Sama was not a perfect employee. Sometimes she came to work late and made mistakes, but Mariam showed her love and grace. This surprised Sama, who was a Muslim. One day she

asked Mariam, “Why do you always show me love? Even though I’ve made a lot of mistakes, you haven’t fired me.” Mariam replied, “God loves me, and I love you. I also want to teach you that you can work better.” Sama had a lot of questions about Mariam’s faith. During work breaks, Mariam patiently showed her the answers to her questions in the Bible. After three months of discipleship, Sama became a Christian. They decided to hire another woman, Ariana,* to help them. Similar to Sama, she was a Muslim when she began working in the market, and she became curious about Jesus after spending time with them. They treated her with love and kindness. When she made mistakes, they showed her grace. After about a year, she also decided to follow Jesus.

Now the three of them — three sisters in Christ — work on a rotation: two work in the market, one in the morning and the other in the afternoon, and the third does ministry outside of the market. The next day, they switch, and a different person does outside ministry. Focused on discipleship of women, their ministry is varied. Some days they meet and share the good news with women who are interested in Jesus. Other days they read the Bible with believers to encourage their spiritual growth. They disciple women both in their own neighbourhood and in distant villages where they have connections.

Please pray for many women to experience Jesus’ love through these sisters. May this business shine as a bright light in the neighbourhood. May more businesses with a heart for ministry start in the Caucasus.

Following Christ’s missional example

“His ministry combined speaking God’s Word, showing God’s love and power and living among the people He came to save," shares Bill. “God’s presence moved from the temple to everyday life. This is now the pattern for the Church to follow as it joins God’s work.”

Bill Drake lives in Atlanta, USA. He leads OM’s Catalytic Ministries, through which he engages with Jesus followers all over the world to help them express their faith and worship through their God-given gifts, talents and expertise. The prologue to the Gospel of John recasts the creation narrative from the point of view of the incarnation: “The Word became flesh and dwelt among us” — John 1:14 (ESV).

WORDS BILL DRAKE

The Greek verb used here for dwelling is skenoo, which literally means ‘to pitch a tent’ or ‘to tabernacle.’ By choosing this word, John identifies Jesus as the new and living tabernacle. What previously had to happen through temple and ritual is now embodied personally through Jesus — our Emmanuel, God with us.

John’s language also echoes the Aramaic word memra (‘Word of Yahweh’), used in ancient translations and interpretations of the Hebrew Bible to denote God’s personal self-expression. By combining two well-known concepts from Greek philosophy and Hebrew theology, John demonstrates that Jesus is the everlasting divine Word who connects God’s greatness with His nearness. Through Christ, God’s message becomes a shared life with Him, perfectly in step with His purpose. Jesus Christ becoming human shows what whole mission looks like. His ministry combined speaking God’s Word, showing God’s love and power and living among the people He came to save. God’s presence moved from the temple to everyday life. This is

now the pattern for the Church to follow as it joins God’s work. The incarnation transforms mission from something we do to something that we are. To be sent means copying Christ’s self-giving love. Mission flows from this: word and deed, speaking and living the message, go together in Jesus, and the Church is called to follow His example. John’s word ‘glory’ (John 1:14) echoes Exodus 40:34–35, where God’s presence filled the Tabernacle. In Jesus, that glory now lives in a human body (Colossians 2:9). But this glory is not revealed in power and triumph, but in sacrificial love — “full of grace and truth.” The Word who lives among us brings a new kind of glory: power expressed through service and compassion, and presence that gives dignity and invites us to participate. 11

ANGOLA

From biographies to the dental clinic When Naty went on her first mission trip to Angola, she never imagined that mission workers could serve from a dental clinic.

Born in Argentina, Naty is a 31-year-old dentist. Her journey with missions began when she was 17. While trying to decide what to study, her love for reading led her into the world of cross-cultural missions through a series of mission workers’ biographies. One of those books was Through Gates of Splendor by Elisabeth Elliot, which tells the story of five mission workers who gave their lives out of love for an

At the same time, Naty was beginning to lean towards a career path. While attending orthodontic appointments, she noticed that her dentist was so kind that each visit turned into long conversations. That was when a spark was ignited. “I started falling in love with the profession. You’re always with people and relationships form easily. I thought, ‘This profession works anywhere…everyone has teeth!’”

indigenous tribe in Ecuador. MISSION THROUGH CAREERS

“I used to think, ‘That kind of Christian life is very different from mine,’” Naty shared. “I had never considered whether my life had an impact on others. But in that process, I realised: I want that life — the kind that gives everything for Christ.” W O R D S C A M I L A B A B AT I VA 12

Naty grew up in a church where global mission was uncommon. In the church’s nearly 78 years of history, no one had ever been sent crossculturally, which raised questions for her about what missions might look like in her own life.

Upon finishing her university studies, Naty completed one year of Bible training. After praying and seeking guidance, she decided to go on a short-term mission trip to Angola. She joined a team of mostly health professionals who were using their careers as tools for ministry. That was when one of her biggest surprises came. “I was surprised to see that doctors had schedules to keep and many patients to attend to. It wasn’t just standing in front of people and

talking about the Bible once. It was living among them, sharing daily life and showing God through the way you live.” When she returned home, Naty shared with her church elders her desire to serve long-term in Angola. One of them then told her about FIT Global, a training programme created by OM in partnership with other organisations to equip professionals who want to use their careers as mission tools. The church didn’t just encourage her — they offered to cover all the costs. “FIT Global helped me see in practice what I had already been sensing: it is possible to glorify God through my profession,” shared Naty. “Life is not divided into spiritual and secular. Work is part of God’s plan.” Today, Naty is the first person her church has sent to serve in long-term cross-cultural mission. “Ten years ago, this would have been impossible. But God was preparing everything. Now my church is fully

involved. Since that first trip, they have supported me not only spiritually, but also financially and logistically.” One of the most beautiful things Naty shares is that the work in Angola is no longer her personal project. “The elders were very clear with me: this is a church project. Even when I have doubts, the church stands firm — and that sustains me.” GOD PROVIDES

The dream was to open a dental clinic that could support the ongoing medical work in Angola, but the budget of USD 13,000 seemed impossible. They began sharing the vision without knowing what God would do — and the unexpected happened.

“To my surprise, we raised much more than we expected, even though it wasn’t yet the full amount budgeted.” Of the USD 13,000 needed, they raised USD 9,000 through the collaboration and effort of several churches and individuals united by the shared dream. When they arrived in Angola, they discovered that the dental chair cost far less than expected. What they had was exactly what they needed. Equipping the clinic was completed faster than they had imagined. In less than 15 days, they had almost all the materials, a technician to assemble everything and even made progress on the paperwork for Naty’s dental licence in the country. Today, everything is up and running. Naty is already able to practise her

profession legally, although she is still awaiting a few final documents. Please pray that God will guide her in everything and that through her hands and her conversations, God would open doors to people’s hearts so she can share the love of Jesus.

If Naty’s story has inspired you, perhaps God is inviting you to use your own professional skills in His mission. Whether in your own community here in the UK or overseas, there are opportunities to serve long term through your career. F I N D O U T M O R E AT UK.OM.ORG/LONGERTERM-OPPORTUNITIES
