EDITOR'S NOTE Welcome to the 4th issue of FAKfulness Art Magazine. The idea of this issue topic "Lunatics and Prophets" surfaced me as a picture of all uncertain times: wars, economic crises, pandemics(!)

Theses uncertain times have always been a breeding ground for the works of artists, writers, philosophers.

It shows what happens to the world when sanctions that guarantees order and possibility of meaning are taken away.The hypersensitivity of creators has caused and makes their visions, intuitions appear and appear long before the arrival of a real threat. That is why in times of relative calm they are often considered insane or at least harmless neurotics.

One of the oldest debates in psychology concerns the relationship between creativity and madness. The notion that there might be a link between genius and madness has been in existence since the times of the ancient Greeks. A scientific research shows that, there is indeed some evidence of the counterproductive or undeserible features associated with creativity.

Without delving inti research of scientists, I have been enthralled and enraptured exploring the space between madness and visionary. I strongly belive that: "Intellectual composure and feeling good, have never stimulus for great things" as Ernst Kretschmer said Therefor I am exited to share with you the works by artist who answered the call.. I hope you will enjoy learning about this issue featured artists as well as the creative inspiration and effort that goes into their unique artworks.

Janicole

By investing a fantasy character, I called Janicole, I tried to illustrate the difficult concept of the individual identity.

Built as a choreography in which the setting is deliberately wanted informal, Janicole must face his true self and wonders : is he a substance ? An immediate data ? Or an outsider thinking that one should be a completed reality, stable and compliant ?

With my own body as unique vehicle and using poses, Janicole can finally be, exist. He is able to express the idea that the concept of identity would always implode between identical and otherness, similarity and difference.

He is a polymorphic structure, like a tree with multiple blooms.

SATORI Nightly, Satori gives birth to eggs and sells them in order to make enough money to survive so she can continue to make art. Satori becomes worn out and conflicted with this act of selling part of herself and discusses this and the many aspects of being an artist with her friends: An encouraging unicorn, the all-knowing goddess, Isis, and a very disagreeable Beta fish. Together they help Satori find a way into the Universe where she goes in search of meaning and answers about her current existence as an artist.

Vigilambulism The term vigilambulist means a sleepwalker in the waking state.

It was firstly employed by psychiatrist Paul Sollier in his studies of hysteria. Vigilambulism is a condition of unconsciousness regarding one's surroundings, with automatism, resembling somnambulism but occurring in the waking state (Medical Dictionary for the Health Professions and Nursing). The philosopher Gilles Deleuze in his writing on painting contraposes surrealistic imagination, based on an arbitrariness of a fantasy, to being in a state of weird vigilance – not a dream, but an insomnia, when dreams themselves bounce off it, falling apart. The clairvoyance of vigilambulism is a blackness and stupefaction, anemia, petrification – it is suspended in a weightlessness or sinking into a ground. This series of works is inspired by my walks in deep black autumn, when winter is approaching – the devastation and lack of any reference points

s a three-week project directly inspired by the pandemic and the medical world. The circle of the characters is the fictitious representation of the virus which turns around the bodies, in a surreal and original environment.

A universe of reality and also of surrealism. The drawings on bodies and walls show us a future project of a sublimated and possible life. The body of the model is a structure formal.

Through my works in the series "Paradis Perdu" I explore the relationship between the human being and the confinement next to the virus which enters the minds and bodies. i

A binary code performance created collaboratively in response to delivering a digital version of a healing, holistic art performances by digital/binary means; created with live coder Northwoods (Charlie Kramer, US). Translations of texts concerning healing as art and digital emptiness into binary rendered into audiovisual output that will as exist two videos, and a live streaming event of 1 hour duration when the stream will generate constantly changing live coded meditative output including a binary code soundtrack.

Along with broadcasting the two prepared videos, working with Charlie Kramer, pre-loaded binary code will trigger generative art in audio-visual form, celebrating this unusual and exciting artform. This can be arranged easily and created as an event with your co-operation using equipment in the online space. Viewers can enjoy the healing properties of this artform and meditate, exercise or do anything else they feel inspired to do while it is being broadcast, including responding with new artforms of their own. The idea is easily adaptable and easily staged. It can be adjusted to any new requirements and needs very little time investment to make possible. The prepared videos can be supplied and the live event negotiated to make it possible with minimum resources on your part.

The trip of my dreams!

April 30, 2020. The day that was marked in my memory. It was the first day of a planned trip for five years. The whole script, the logistics, the plans to take the food, make it and return with the garbage I produced. It was 10 very intense days. A few hours of sleep to find the ideal light and manage to take my photos in the fullness of that arid landscape.

You travel for miles and don't find a "living soul". Gasoline, you need to store it, because you can't find a place to refuel.

I had to cover my whole body with appropriate clothes, otherwise I would have an insolation that could put everything to waste. I was very happy to experience every cloudy day in this wonderful desert. I felt that I was in the right place at the right time, I consider life coincidences.

I took a 6x6cm medium format camera and my tripod and hands on! The result was this essay “The trip of my dreams!� in which I proposed to take a photograph a day, like a board logbook You who have read this text so far, I need to apologize! This whole story I just told is a lie!

These photographs are actually clippings from an appropriate digital file on the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) website. The original has 88797 x 22958 pixels, made by Oportunity, a geological exploration vehicle on Mars. A robot, which is millions of kilometers from planet Earth, has sent countless spectacular images of the surface there.

I think I'm a little fascinated by photographs of Mars, thinking so far and so close.

You may be asking me why this whole story of mixing a fantastic vacation trip with the best in research, science and technology. My intention is to question the consequences of lying.

This is because the political period in which Brazil is going is durable, a true global mockery. It is inconceivable for a public man, without content, with a single purpose: power. Everything is fake news, released by the millions, like the one that is so questioned, that it prevents debates on Brazilian television networks. If he were, millions of Brazilians who were not voted out of discontent or force majeure did not allow to elect Jair Bolsonaro as President of the Federative Republic of Brazil.

Twenty-two million informal workers registered in the first 24 hours to receive Emergency Aid from the Federal Government in the amount of R $ 600. Many still have not been able to withdraw the benefit even though they spend hours in line, amidst concentrations of people in the middle of a pandemic caused by Covid-19. Those same people who need that small amount are the ones that make Brazil pulse.

In a time of social isolation, we have an unprecedented experience. I never imagined that we would go through a situation like this. And, worse, that we would have a representative like that that shames a nation.

Series of photographs Pastels, Streaks, and Shadows.

Pastels, Streaks, and Shadows is a series of photographs devoted to the phenomenon of shadow and reflection of real-life items. The author focuses not only on the sole idea of shadows, but is interested also – or maybe above all – in the colour that this phenomenon may have.

Shadows are generally depicted as uniform, dark shapes and their diversity is still unnoticed. Although they may seem monocoloured, the greyness they are associated with has many shades. As proven amongst other by Neo-impressionists who used the Pointilism technique, greyness may have a hue of any other colour. Moreover, depending on the saturation of the light falling on the photographed item and the material it is made of it, shadows have various colours.

What is also important for this effect are two different sources of light that are independent from each other.

On photographs by Bernard Mailer, we can notice that the shadows of the photographed items sometimes are indeed monochromatic – grey, sometimes with a brownish, sometimes with a reddish hue (as in the case of the photographed lamp designed by Ferrucio Laviani).

In the Pastels, Streaks, and Shadows series, the author, analogically to his previous work, focuses on a seemingly elusive event that lasts a mere moment.

HEALERS Small pieces, fragments of stories printed on paper. Stories of apparent healings in the disease. The Healed rises when he accepts his condition as a human being and the Healer helps him to do so; while working on this action, he himself is healed. The Healers series intends to reflect on the theme of healing (in the broad sense), through the fleeting contact between two human creatures, as if the simple act of "touching" brought more benefits than all solutions that scientific progress and technology offer. They have taken an important place in everyday life, but still offer illusory solutions in the perspective of man's finiteness. From a formal point of view, Healers are an investigation of sign and color.

obs-cu-ra, 2020 Ancestral of the photographic camera, the oldest reference to the principle of the camera obscura is attributed to the Chinese philosopher Mozi, in the 5th century BC But it is in the Renaissance that it starts to be used as an optical device: a completely dark box or room with a small entrance of light projects, in the opposite part of this opening, an inverted image of the external scene.

Since then, the technique has been used for the most varied purposes: the visualization of solar eclipses without jeopardizing the vision; helping painters in search of a more faithful and two-dimensional representation of the world; until it served as inspiration for obtaining the first photograph in history, "View from the Window at Le Gras", produced over an eighthour exhibition from the window of French inventor Joseph Nicéphore Niepce, in 1826, in the city of Saint-Loup -de-Varennes, France.

Not by chance, the window as a point of view is a recurring motif throughout Art History.

From “Woman at a Window” (1822), by the German Caspar David Friedrich, the Rear Window,

by Alfred Hitchcock (1954). From waiting to voyeurism. there are many references, including Dalí, Picasso, Matisse, Magritté, to the most recent inspiration in the work of Cuban photographer Abelardo Morell, who transforms ordinary environments into surreal settings in his series Camera Obscura.

A place that starts to be re-signified by different contemporary artists around the world in Covid-19 times. Nowadays, the window starts to represent the border and the abyss between the outside and the inside world. Freedom and confinement.

Obs-cu-ra is the sum of it all. A series designed by photographer Bruno Alencastro from the 4th-floor window of the apartment where he lives in the Copacabana neighborhood, in Rio de Janeiro. From there, he went to the homes of 12 more Brazilian photographers who agreed to turn their houses into large-format obscure cameras and captured life in times of pandemic. Each with its uniqueness. Achievements and losses. Wishes and privileges. Fears and hopes.

The result is a photo essay characterized by a dark and enigmatic atmosphere, such as the indecipherable future that no one knows for sure. Until then, contact with the outside world continues to happen through this limited frame of reality, the representation of a changing life. A present that makes us think about the past in search of answers for when all this is over.

Through the self-interpreter in relation to the space and the “strip” three dimensional object, I seek to awaken perceptions in the other subject who participates in the action.

When carrying out a critique of the impositions of daily life, a reflection on the performative act that will be read (delivered or not) by the other.

The moment I take over a specific space, it doesn’t let it be public. The urban individual is driven to defined areas following a tactic of selected construction and individualized bodies, so that the partition of individuals is a strategy of managing the population and maintaining order. While I’m contained within the individual range of my own safety strip, my circulation expands and allows me to effectively be, to experience as body operations dubiously useful within the individual space that it creates and controls. The subjection to the discipline creates a “docility-utility” relationship which I contrast with a certain idleness and uselessness. An experience of authority of the subject in the contemporary city.
