KINETIC FACADE MODEL

The challenge in this project was to create a pyshical model of a facade that will react to sunlight. That will eventually work as a kinetic facade. To get the model work a micro-processor and sensor were needed. Scan the QR code to see the model working.

Laser cutting and 3D printing was used to create the components of the facade model. The gear that moves the racks was 3D printed while the frame and racks were laser-cutted.

Electronic part of model was sorted out by Arduino, a micro-processor with open software. Arduino was programmed to work with two different sensors which gives two different data. First is the distance sensor and second is the light sensor. According to the value of the sensors a servo motor opens and closes the model as shown below.
